Silversea LA to Tahiti in February? Roll Call - Merged

Just snoping at this thread. We REALLY wanted to do this cruise. But prior commitments prevailed. We've been to FP 5 times. The last trip we reserved a over the water bungelow at the Bora Bora Pearl. They gave us a "day rate". They picked us up at the pier. And had a lovely fruit basket awaiting us in the OWB. This was the best decision we ever made.

Anyway, just a suggestion.......

Thanks for the great idea Lyndihop! This is our fifth visit, and may be what we want to do too! How did you arrange this? Did you contact the Bora Bora Pearl Concierge???? Thanks for your advice and input!!!

The Cruise Critic group is confirmed for our meeting in The Bar on deck 5 at 10 am on 8 February.

The reason we are not given Panorama Lounge is this space is often used for morning activities. A light breakfat is served in The Bar. We will also have a Silversea nrepresentative on hand to welcome us aboard and answer questions.

I hope this meets with everyone's satisfaction.

David,

The names and suites have been sent to Cruise Consultant Kinga Szollos. I have inquired if Silversea has "hello lables" for our use. I understand this meeting will be on the bulletin board under an appropriate heading.

So all seems in order except the packing. I take special heed here as I once forgot necktie and a belt...their absence, however, prevented me from hanging myself.

Mahalo for your help.

Aloha Ron & Dee:

From a very wet and cold Los Angeles, good afternoon. I hope it isn't like this in 3 weeks!! Not that we could do anything about it anyhow!

Thanks for taking care of the get together, it will be nice to meet those mysterious people with those mysterious names!!

Packing is still some time in the future but it will be nice to be able to pack with no regard to airline rules. It is fun for me to build a new wardrobe for cruising because the usual dress is shorts or slacks and tee with the occasional dress-up. I love ties but don't get the opportunity of wearing them except on high holidays and some cruises!! I look forward to getting "dressed-up," it makes such a great change of pace. That's one of the reasons we cruise I guess.

Take care.

David.

David and Betty,

Weather here better but cloudy. Yesterday and today I had wonderful swims of sixty minutes; yesterday the ocean was a ten; today a mere nine. Some other thread remarked on the "good life" and that is what we have. While I swim and sauna Dee plays tennis. Are we getting younger?

I agree on the dress. Having lived in Hawaii for so many years I have very little wardrobe. So it nice to break out the blue blazer and suit (no tux) for a cruise. Our South Seas voyage fits well with my closet and drawer content of Aloha shirts and shorts. Also my mood!

A week from Thursday I have lunch and a tour on Seabourn Odyssey when she stops in Honolulu. My perk in paradise.

Aloha, Ron:cool::cool:

That sounds OK Ron. Are you going to bring some "Hello I'm ----" stick on labels?

Greetings David and Betty

Silversea informs me they do not have "greeting" tags to issue. Do you think they are necessary for seventeen CC people for a short "get-together" meeting. I'm thinking none will wear them once exiting the meeting. Of course, I'm easy to identify in my Spook white sheet.

Hey! Ron:

I think we would get to know each other easier when we meet if we wear some ID to put name with face. I will put some blank labels in my luggage which we can use. I didn't mean for them to be worn after the get together.

Incidentally, I see 2 areas marked bar on Deck 5, one aft of the showroom and one amidships. Which one is our designated meeting place?

Regards, DW

It is aft in Show Lounge. Casino Bar very small and I don't remember it even has seating. Docs came to FedEx with enough luggage labels to warrent an entire new wardrobe.

To all the CCr's busy preparing for their South Seas adventure:

I have made name tags with first name and CC name for all. Now we will be able to connect names to faces.

Really looking forward to meeting everyone. D & B:):)

Is anyone else staying at this hotel in San Pedro pre-cruise? We'll be getting in around 5 pm the night before sailing and would love to get together with anyone who will be staying there.

Hi Bob and Victoria!

You will have an easy ride to the pier from this location. We will be driving in (2.5 hour drive) and parking at the LA cruise termianal (which is very nice as you know...) you were with us on Shadow in September for the Mexican Riviera ...correct?)

We already have a Spirit voyage planned, but hesitate to book before we board because I want to guarantee that we get the 5% onboard credit! Do you know if that can be added to an existing reservation once we are onboard? Also, what time have you been told we can embark on Super Bowl Sunday? I hear noon, then I heard 3:00. I am hoping it's noon!:)

Hi Mike & Mary - I believe we met at the pool bar with LuckDragon one day. We have been told that we can get the 5% onboard credit on the Spirit October TA cruise we've already booked. We plan on getting to the pier at noon and are assuming that we can board at that time. If the weather is good, we might even walk from the hotel and drag all our luggage behind us! I have a photo of the hotel taken from the Shadow when we returned from the Mexico cruise so I know it is nearby.

Looking forward to seeing you both again.

Hi All- It seems that our docs are going to be late. Can anyone tell me the number of formal nights for the LA-LA RT? Many thanks!!

We have four formal nights in our 20 night LA to HNL. You might have one more. Silversea can answer this in a jiffy. Next time you cruise make sure final docs are sent to YOU and not a TA if you used one. It only means re-mailing and loss of time.

Hi everyone...regarding the formal night question, there are 3 formal nights between LA and PPT. I just realized that really won't help those doing LA - LA.

Regarding boarding times, my documents say 3pm but after reading

threads here it seems that 12 noon is now the norm. Can anyone clarify. I was thinking of showing up at the terminal at 12:30 to 1pm.

I called SS and asked the same question. I didn't get a firm answer but was told 4-6. But that was a SWAG more than firm commitment.

when we hadn't received any docs as of last Friday, we got worried and called our travel agent. He received them yesterday and was going to mail them to us. We asked for FedEx next day delivery and he agreed to it. As for when we can board the ship, given that hotel check out times are at noon, making us wait until 3:00 or 4:00, if that is true, seems unreasonable considering the small number of passengers they are dealing with. I've never heard of a cruise line having such a late embarkation time. Seems strange to me, but this is our first time with SS so will jsut go with the flow.

Hi all,

Starting to get very excited about this adventure. So glad to hear about the get together on the 8th, too bad we won't be there! How will we know who is who when we board in PPT?! The timing of the LA-PPT portion of this cruise was not good for us, hence just the cruise one way. But a few nights in an over the water bungalow in Moorea will make up for it, I'm sure! So when you notice two people schlepping their luggage from the ferry to the ship at the port in PPT, come say hi to us!

So glad we aren't out in that nasty Pacific weather now. Hope all you LAers are well and dry.

What is the procedure for reservations in the specialty restaurants? Can any be made prior to boarding or is it really a non-issue due to the small size of the ship?

Hi Cindy!

Look forward to meeting you when you board in Papeete! I think we should have another party for the trip Northbound! You will love your overwater bungalow in Moorea!!!! Unless there's a hurricane .....(just kidding) This is our fifth trip to the South Pacific. It is truly our favorite place on earth!!!!! (so far!)

We are really getting it bad here in LA> Many of the streets in San Pedro (where the cruise terminal is) are flooded! Thank goodness we have two weeks to (hopefully) dry out! You can make reservations for La Champagne online, La Terazza only in person, We usually do it in person first thing after we board. If you are doing the wine flight in La Champagne, you will save $50.00 per person, by booking it online!!!!

See you in Papeete!
