  1. I think there is a lot of surplus in the industry to remove without looking at the big 3.
  2. 1. Best to keep count of drinks yourself. I have never asked but your server may be able to tell you if you are over your daily limit 2. best part of ship for little motion is mid ship on a lower deck. I don’t like the very lowest decks. Best to find a cabin with other cabins below, above and on the sides of yours. 3. The excursion money is a budget. It will be deducted as you spend it. So if your first excursion is above $100 it will all be used for that one, if not the remainder will be applied to the next excursion 4. wi if is always available in the room. I don’t know about the room service drinks.
  3. We walked around and were confronted with not just a few but many, many homeless.
  4. You get the OBC on the sale price. You usually don’t get it if it is a special casino promotion or other very special pricing by invitation only. Those promotions are usually free or very low priced
  5. I am pretty sure no OBC is consistent with pre-Covid policy, sometimes a person will slip through the cracks
  6. It depends on why you are buying the stock. If it is for the shareholder benefit and you cruise often, sure buy your 100 shares. As someone else said buy it on the way up. I did the same with Ford stock, my benefit is well worth more than the price I paid for the stock. Same with my CCL. I own them both only for the benefit, they don’t fit my investment outlook. My guess is if there won’t be a bankruptcy but there may be some divestment.
  7. Switch it up. We stayed based on reviews and vlogger reviews. It just isn’t that good and the surrounding neighborhood is turning a bit sketchy. The shuttles are no longer free. The evening happy hour was marginal - stale chips, salsa and veggies. The breakfast was very busy and the food could have been hotter. The room was ok but could use some refreshing. I will not be staying again. Lots of newer hotels to choose from. If you have time to tour I would stay on the river shuttle route or at the beach. maybe after Covid they will get better. They are very nice people
  8. Taos are cute. I like Clark’s but I am a fan of leather for northern climes. If going to the beach Sketchers and Toms
  9. Perhaps but some mineral and effervescent waters (technically known as bubbly water) are quite delicious and provide plenty of micronutrients.
  10. This was the one that caused the cruise lines to make significant changes to the dress policy. I guess Cunard being mainly a crossing and used by people who don't fly was not impacted by that change and kept the traditional standard..
  11. CLIA issued a statement. I have only found the original reference of cruisehive. Viking removed all testing unless required by law. I expect we will hear from RCCL today
  12. Waters, canned soda, coffees. Some on my last cruise were also able to get the milkshake at the dive in added to their drink package.
  13. Ar least someone at HAL was able to help you. Welcome home. I agree customer service has been a dismal failure
  14. Ok, Viking has ended most Covid testing https://www.vikingcruises.com/oceans/why-viking/health-and-safety/health-and-safety-program.html
  15. It is a new card. One side says “make up the room” and the other says (paraphrasing) don’t make up the room. Don’t make up is not conclusive enough, that could mean you just don’t want turn down service.
  16. @rkacruiser the new door card with make up the room instructions irritates me. I don’t see why one side can’t simply say do not disturb.
  17. Don’t threaten people. They write the rules, if they want to be more specific they can. I follow the rules as stated. Whether I walk around with a water bottle is not up for discussion, if I did it would be within the rules, if not, it is because I am not thirsty.
  18. . You are going to pay whether it is in tips or not. If they would remove tipping it would be rolled into your fare. If you withhold the tips they will raise fares to compensate because labor is competitive and will demand their full wage. I was told long ago that the reason for the tip system has to do with income tax law. If that is true then that cost would be added to your fare. Businesses offer a product, the customer pays for the product. The customer pays for every single expense there is in delivering that product. No matter how they parse it you pay.
  19. I think for me the big change came with the explosion of lightweight wicking fabrics that are easy wash. The other moment was when I discovered the $20 laundry bag. Light packing became my quest. I never enjoyed hauling big suitcases around and it was liberating to pack for a 30 day cruise with an 8 day wardrobe. I still carry more jewelry than a person should. I am taking a 10 day vacation with my sis in a few weeks and I am carrying a carry on and a small day pack
  20. It’s your money, you decide. We loved Norwegian until they went to the big ships. And no, Oceania is not Norwegian on a smaller scale, if only sigh 😌 why change unless there is an itinerary you want to try where Norwegian doesn’t sail. I have liked all of the lines I have sailed on. The only waste of money in my experience was a recent river cruise (I left a review). For all of the others all have had some redeeming quality that outweighed any negatives.
  21. No, I am pretty sure the policy is except when eating and drinking but I could be wrong.
