Yeah and my 0/9 success rate includes 4 cruises post covid that were at reduced capacities with bids that a couple were even medium and strong bids ... and I still failed at every turn. Chances now, at least for me, are approaching negative numbers. 🙂 With ships sailing full now I'm still bidding but mostly out of entertainment. I have zero expectation of winning anything.

Symphony or Odyssey For Caribbean
Tree_skier replied to SanzD's topic in Royal Caribbean International
If you enjoy watching the musical acts you will like it a lot more in the Music Hall on Odyssey than Dazzles on Symphony. The Music hall is a vastly superior venue. Putting Playmakers above and looking down on Seaplex is a major upgrade on the Quantum class ships. Odyssey has a Flowrider so you can continue have your drink and watch there too. As far as open spaces... I think Odyssey is equal. My only caveat is with regards to what Ken @Ourusualbeach said about choke points. When I was on Odyssey it was 6 months post covid restart and there were only 2900 people onboard the ship. It definitely didn't feel crowded. -
All I know for sure is the programmer seems to have put in a line of code that specifically says to not accept my bids. I'm 0/9 on RoyalUp bids.

Boarding day lunch with Unlimited Dining
Tree_skier replied to chascougs's topic in Royal Caribbean International
I'll echo what @livingonthebeach said... I've always been able to just walk up to whatever specialty restaurant was open on boarding day and walk in without a reservation. I have never seen one so busy on boarding day that that was a problem. Sorry I can't answer what would happen if you booked in advance and asked a refund. I wouldn't bother since that's just to much extra effort for me. -
Specific MDR recommendations for my cruise
Tree_skier replied to HappyTexan44's topic in Royal Caribbean International
I know that there was someone that said the Carne Asada wasn't good but my experience has been the opposite. I have ordered it on two of my last three cruises and enjoyed it each time. If you are struggling for a pick on Mexican night I wouldn't hesitate to select that. -

I would say, as someone who likes mild spice, that it is just perfect. There is a tiny bite but far from anything that'll set you on fire. -
I don't think that is what @doghog meant... I think he is referring CL to the newly name Crown lounge, formerly the Diamond lounge.

casita locations on Navigator

Some yes and some no. Select you Casita as early as possible and you should get the one you want. -

That is on Mexican night and is very very good. I forgot about that one when I made my recommendation. 🙂. -
Explorer of the Seas Dec 1st - Dec 8th
Tree_skier replied to Oakman58's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Good review, thank you for doing it. DW and I were just commenting yesterday about how much we really love Voyager/Freedom class ships. The Ice show is always our favorite entertainment. I'm glad you enjoyed your trip. -
Has anyone stayed in a Central Park View Cabin?

deleted... I misread and I commented based on a CP balcony. -

Casitas - Harmony of the Seas?
Tree_skier replied to jaredhamburg's topic in Royal Caribbean International
No, no Casitas at all. It's just a glitch in the cruise planner. -
I have noticed that MDR portions have gotten a little smaller but honestly I'm not disappointed. I always eat to much on a cruise and slightly smaller portions help a little bit. I still managed to gain 10 pound on my 14 days on Harmony in Dec so clearly I'm not going hungry.

You will scan your card. -
I've never seen a tax on the DBP... That must be an EU thing since I see you are in Ireland.

Thoughts on Recent Odyssey Cruise
Tree_skier replied to rncruiser's topic in Royal Caribbean International
My assessment is much the same as yours. We loved our time on Odyssey. The only thing I missed was an ice show. That is always an entertainment highlight for us. EDIT: That being said I do agree with the OP about "The Book" it was one of my least favorite shows I have ever seen on any Royal ship. The whole thing just seemed like a bad dream from eating to much pizza before bed. 🙂 -
Ok now I understand question. No you don't apply the 30%. The 30% applies to the full onboard price.

Reservations for specialty dining
Tree_skier replied to alphawave1's topic in Royal Caribbean International
No you don't have to wait, they will give you an in transit pass once the ship is cleared. You can leave the ship and come straight back on without the checkin line. You'll still have to go through security but that should just take a minute or two. I just did this on the Dec 17 in Galveston. I got off the ship while DW stayed on. I Ubered over to Walmart, picked up a couple things and ubered straight back to the ship. I was back on board after getting out of the uber in 5 or 6 minutes. -
I'm not sure of your question? What were you wondering about BOGO 50% off
-
True, for us it makes no difference though since we usually choose Giovanni's/Jamies as our plus meal. If someone is choosing Chops and then Chops I could see them feeling shortchanged.

On French night order the Beef Tenderloin. It is my favorite MDR meal every week... For dessert I love the warm apple cobbler.
