  1. We have sailed on many Celebrity cruises. We chose Azamara Quest for the Norway Intensive July 25. We loved the small ship and the service was outstanding. Captain Johannes was very personable, interacting with passengers. When COVID presented its ugly head, he was very transparent giving us the new numbers every day until it got to 0 new cases. There weren't too many in total. We thought the food in the dining room was bland and the steaks way overcooked in spite of asking for medium rare, so we stopped eating there, choosing the Windows dining room which was open on our sailing having been shut for some time for dinner. We really liked the Ethnic food theme they were serving there. Yes, the bathrooms are small and the shower tiny.
  2. I would choose the 11 day if price is almost the same. Amsterdam is a wonderful city where you could do a canal cruise and visit the Anne Frank museum which is amazing. If you do choose this cruise make sure if you decide on the Anne Frank museum that you get your tickets early. It often sells out. Of course Paris is Paris with great food fashions and the Eiffel Tower etc. What ship? I can't seem to find either of these itineraries.
  3. We enjoyed this also, on Quest. We had a delightful little server from the Philippines at dinner.
  4. On our Azamara account we were recognized as Discoverer Plus before we sailed on our first Azamara cruise. After the cruise we received the points on both Azamara Circle and Captains Club about a week ago.
  5. So sorry about your suit WMF. This was certainly Celebrity's fault right from the get go. They should remember the occasion that precipitated the need for dry cleaning. I would take Chemmo's advice. I had a favourite cashmere sweater that I sent for dry cleaning near the end of a cruise. It came back nicely packaged and I just put it in the suitcase. Didn't look at it till we got home and there was a big hole in one sleeve. Nothing I could do at that point, except to never trust them with any laundry again. Even though we have free laundry etc. I never send anything out but DH's underwear. I don't want my things ruined for free.
  6. I thought the Azamara bag was lovely. Way better than Celebrity's current offering.
  7. Just off our first Azamara cruise. This was on Quest. We found the food bland and the chef in Discoveries doesn't know how to cook steak medium rare. He only knows well done and tough, so we stopped eating there preferring Windows with their ethnic offering each night. Crew were amazing and we thought the service went above and beyond. Loved Captain Tysee with his amazing sense of humor. Also loved the small ship.
  8. I think you have all the bases well covered. I agree with Barwick. ArriveCan is about arriving in Canada and it's a pain for those of us who like to go to the USA for gas and groceries. Since you are already in Canada, having done this at the airport, you don't have to complete it again to board the ship. Have a lovely cruise.
  9. Easy quiz this time. I must have missed the one that gave the 3 points everyone is talking about.
  10. Celebrity's first venture down under on Mercury, 2007 Honolulu to Sydney. I am also starting to hate flying.
  11. We tip extra also. Another thing we do is go to Guest Relations and ask them for a note (it used to be called "attention to detail"). We fill it in with the name of the crew member and what they did to make our cruise special. I believe they get some extra time off for this or maybe even a promotion in due time. Enjoy your first cruise, Belfast. It will always be a special memory.
  12. We just got off Azamara Quest, Aug 8 and yes, we got the reciprocal benefits as Elite + on Celebrity. We have already received our points on both Captains Club and Azamara Circle. i wish this would continue till next May when we sail Azamara again.
  13. We have just completed our first cruise with Azamara (the one preceding the one referenced here) and fell in love with Captain Johannes. He is so personable, mingling among the passengers and chatting when he could be having a break. I am beyond thrilled that he will be Captaining the Quest for the Suez sailing next May. As for these abusers, do they think the crew has control over the weather? Captain Johannes showed his kindness and tolerance by not tossing them off the ship right away. DH often says the thing he likes best about cruising is the people he meets and the thing he dislikes most about cruising is the people he meets! Love your picture of Portree, uktog. What a delightful little place.
  14. We have done at least 6 TA's and have never been bored. In fact, it often happens that there are two things happening simultaneously and we have to make a decision which one we want to attend. i love the ease of not having to get up early for an excursion each day.
  15. I'm a Canadian and I think Denny is funny! The Canadian dollar is a joke
  16. Yes, we are back in Vancouver. No, we went AMS - SFO - YVR. We are still dealing with jet lag. Schiphol was unbelievable. I never want to see that airport again.
  17. We just got off Quest, our first Azamara, on Monday. Our tier on Celebrity was recognized. We have not received our points yet for this trip. We received 120 minutes of Internet each (half of what Celebrity offers). A word of caution. When you log off, the message says "logged off". However, it does not log off but continues to spin down your minutes till they are all gone. We found this out after using the Internet for 5 minutes. Went to the IT guy and he restored only half of the time. Really? When it's Azamara's mistake? We then went to GR and got the whole time restored.
  18. Ship: Quest Food and Beverage Manager: Oleksandr Brotsman Chief Housekeeper: Agnelo Mascarenhas As mentioned above by uktog, Captain Tysse is leaving Aug 21 but he assured me he will be back for the Suez sailing May 2023. I don't know when he returns.
  19. We very much enjoyed Captain Johannes on the Quest July 25 - Aug 8. He has such a sense of humor. As we were disembarking yesterday (was it only yesterday?), I asked him would he be on board for the Suez sailing May 5, 2023 and he said yes. I was thrilled, went off dancing, and made him laugh.
  20. We arrived home last night at midnight. AMS - SFO - YVR what an odyssey! I said to DH that I never want to see Schipol again or Amsterdam either for that matter. Such crowds and such chaos! Since we had to be off the ship at 9AM, we were 5 hours early for our flight. No one challenged it and we made our way to the United check in quite fast by skirting those horrid lines. We got checked in by a newbie and had to tell him to put the priority tag on our bag which we qualify for by being gold. We worried we would never see it again. Then we proceeded to Aspire where we hoped to avoid the chaos in a quiet lounge. Dream on. There was a long line since the lounge was full. Then they called for Star Alliance people after we had waited for quite a while. When we showed our boarding passes (economy plus) we were denied access!! First time ever. This lounge is only for bz and first class!!! Anyone ever heard of putting up a sign to say this so people don't wait? Amazing that someone buying a bz class ticket and flying on United for the first time can access that lounge, but someone who has been loyal to UA for thirty years and 2 million miles gets the bums rush. Great business plan! So we went to the gate and sat there for 3 hours! At least we were not fighting the crowds. I echo midwestchick's assessment of Amsterdam. Dirty filthy city full of very rude people taking up the whole of the sidewalk as if it were only one way and for them only! Glad we saw it years ago when it was a nice place to be. We got back on the ship. Don't know where people were getting taxis to Schipol from the port for 40 euros. We got charged 70! I hope others have a better experience in AMS.
  21. Just did our tests and we're negative. Yay.
  22. So sorry to hear this. i hope you recover soon and can book another trip.
  23. I have loved your review Lunastella. You are a very good photographer. What am I doing on Cruise Critic? We leave tomorrow for Dublin. BTW long ago we lived in Clontarf. Can't wait to sail out past the Bull Wall again 65 years later!
  24. Yes, you can. However, you have to carry it on board yourself. If I remember correctly the baggage crew got tired of handling it, so now it is up to the owners to carry it on board. Enjoy your cruise.
