  1. That's the advantage those who live near a port have, for sure.
  2. I use a lanyard to loop into the handle of the little handbag I carry, so it's easy to find.
  3. This is when it is helpful to live within a couple hours of a port - just book a 3-day between now and then.
  4. So, when the kerfuffle started last week, I checked my next two cruises that I have e-docs for. The August 21 cruise had the $14.50/day, and the August 28 cruise was $16/day. After a head's up from another group site for the same itinerary, I just checked again, and lo and behold, my August 28 cruise is now Gratuities A $14.50 per guest, per day gratuity will be automatically added to each guest’s SeaPass® account on a daily basis to be shared among dining, bar & culinary services staff, stateroom attendants and other hotel services teams So it was either a clerical error, or the blowback was so extreme that they reversed course.
  5. We took our first Holland cruise in May - and the room key came with a hole punched in it. Brilliant idea. Which ships have RFID chips?
  6. Is it a problem with too many digits, or too few digits, or something else?
  7. Thanks, we'll be using our for the airport - that's how we knew our luggage got left in the hotel with our last airport transfer on another cruise line! It was hairy, but they got it to us with minutes to spare, and we will never travel without them again.
  8. When you open it in the app, the bottom right, under the bar code should have a little icon that says Add to Apple Wallet. Click it, then go to your wallet and you should be able to see it.
  9. Back in the day, the suites would all be open for you to peek into, when you boarded.
  10. I'm surprised there isn't more of an issue of people ordering drinks on someone else's room. 🙂
  11. That makes life a lot easier. If you are so inclined, tell your room steward to skip your cabin on TAD, since that is their busiest day.
  12. Magic 8 ball. Just keep checking every day. Either they will, or they won't. You can look at the bar code on your set sail pass - either use a QR scanner, or send it to your Apple Wallet, and look at the last 4 numbers after the dash. That should be your room number. If it is not assigned by the time you get to the port, you can get one made for you there.
  13. Same cruise, we went from an ocean view to a spacious ocean view for $100 pp. I looked at the deck plans and we moved three cabins over. 🙂
  14. We are diamond and cruised for the first time without a DBP last winter. We did not miss it - the four drinks a day was usually enough, and whatever we bought extra never added up to more than $25-$30/day.
  15. Getting back to the original point, we have no idea if testing will still be required in February.
  16. Oasis, with both adult children and their spouses. We had consecutive balcony cabins (not connecting) and were able to open up the separations for one big balcony. I learned a lot here about what to do, what expectations to have. We asked for them to eat dinner with us every night - they both asked off one night for a specialty restaurant, which was great. We had white boards on the doors (before the app) and we had a general idea of who wanted to do what at each port stop. So we did some things together, some things they were on their own. The hardest part was pinning down a week, a year in advance, and then no one getting pregnant. 🙂
  17. Do they have the You Are Here series? We looked in England, in several places, and no joy. They make great gifts.
  18. The one thing you will have is Saharan dust in the atmosphere, which should make for some nice sunsets and sunrises.
  19. The cruise industry is not going to lose massive amounts of money because of a 'tiny but vocal' group. As you say, they have 10 million data points, and they seem to come to a different conclusion than you do.
  20. Always look at the final price. Pay no attention to the 'sale'.
  21. Oh, it has nothing to do with inflation - it has to do with what people will pay. Look at the Coco Beach Club or over the water cabanas. Their prices fluctuate wildly, with no apparent rhyme or reason. So long as people will pay the outrageous prices, they will stay high. Now if they'd be $18 again for the DBP, that would be something. 🙂
  22. I'm seeing $65 for all three of the Voyager cruises in late August-September. Last I checked it was high $70's, but I stopped looking months ago. I think it has to do with no one buying them.
