  1. If there is no difference, why the extravagant claims in princess ads concerning the greatness of the medallion?
  2. I once had an excursion cancelled by a cruise line because they said they could no longer vet the provider. IIRC, it was in Grand Caymans.
  3. Gee, I have seen posts that tout the medallion for unlocking and opening the door when their hands are full, but no one mentions it does not work as the battery might go dead and you now have to go (and probably wait on a line) to get into your room with your hands full. 🤦‍♂️ As far as I know, no one has ever had a battery run out on a cruise card. 😉
  4. OK. But if the battery goes dead, I assume it will not open the cabin door, correct? How then do you get into your cabin?
  5. Still at some point wouldn't they notice that someone's medallion is showing that he or she has gone overboard?
  6. Let us see if the onboard security personnel are really empowered to handle problems. Will passengers be kicked off the ships for the most serious offenses?
  7. Yes, it was in jest, but if they think a passenger is overboard because the medallion says so, wouldn't they need a muster to count the passengers to account for all of them? The ship in danger is not the only reason a muster may be warranted.
  8. Our best crew show was actually on a Royal Caribbean ship, and I am sure it was made up at the last minute as it was the last night on a 5 day cruise that turned into a 7 day cruise as a hurricane prevented the ship from returning to Fort Lauderdale on time. One of the assistant cruise directors even changed the ship's name from Enchantment of the Seas to Entrapment of the Seas.
  9. True, but let us hope this does not happen. And one thing for sure to follow if it does happen is the complaints that will follow.
  10. Thank you for sharing. And kudos to the crew who did a splendid job of carrying out their duties. Practice pays off! Their muster training was not wasted.
  11. Our TA once told me not to stress over things like this, but to contact him after the cruise to get things settled. Don't any of you use travel agents? Remember the travel agent works for you while whatever they call the person at the cruise line works for the cruise line.
  12. I am big on trivia. I guess if I want to sneak into the singles trivia, I'll have to hide my wedding ring. 🤣
  13. I consider Tallinn, Estonia a gem. Only the second itinerary has it.
  14. If you throw your medallion overboard, are they going to call a muster because they think you have jumped or fell off the ship?
  15. Ok, I knew it was not true. I just asked her where she got the information that you could walk there. And her reply was no, she meant you could walk to the bus that would take you there.
  16. Since they are not illegal (at least in some states), I assume they were confiscated without her being arrested. But, were they returned after the cruise?
  17. In case there are more than one port, we will be sailing on NCL, so whatever port they use. DW said she googled it, and it was walking distance away, but that does not sound right to me.
  18. Now if you had a travel agent, he or she would be the one spending all that time on hold. Or possibly not, as the agent might have a direct contact within the cruise line. Also, as someone who books a lot of cruises for them, the agent might have more pull than just one passenger. Or their contact might have more authority to make a change without keeping going through higher-ups.
  19. OMG, the ship SANK! With all the talk of the new e-muster drills versus the traditional muster drill, could you tell us how this worked out in a real life emergency?
  20. Thank you, I wondered the same thing after our first NCL cruise. I had thought do what you want, when you want really meant that! When I then posted that in the NCL boards, a few agreed with me, but most told me I just did not understand freestyle.
  21. Trying to understand---was this trivia just for solo cruisers, or did he do most of the ship's trivia contests?
