  1. Mine also, no fee. And once to resolve an issue, he got straight through to the cruise line (in this instance Princess) and had us on a 3 way call instead of calling me right back. I was also left on the phone with his Princess contact and told I could ask him any other questions.
  2. Sailaway is always exciting! With all the controversy about muster, could you comment on the muster drill? Or was is just, "ok we got that over with, let the fun begin".
  3. Another thing to consider when looking at lack of crew is how many former crew members now found other jobs. And those other jobs might not pay as much, but they also do not force you to be away from your family for 6 months.
  4. Right, you do not have to stay a day afterwards if there are things you want to see. We are on one of those cruises. We have previously been to Reykjavik on a land trip. DW says we did not get to the Blue Lagoon last time, and now would be our chance to do so.
  5. I could have written the same post only changing her to his.
  6. Good that he wants to learn; sad that he could be doing this 6 years and received senior status without ever being on a cruise. About time he learned enough to answer questions.
  7. We are booked on that ship and have not been notified of any changes. Have you tried calling NCL to ask?
  8. 2013 Carnival Freedom in the Western Caribbean. I thought we had a decent price, and then there were I forget whether it was 2 or 3 price drops. And then in addition our cabin was upgraded. Our TA was supposed to send us a small check after we completed the cruise, but I told him not to as I could not see how he was making any money on this cruise!
  9. That's a good thought, but unfortunately the comparison you made is an apples to oranges one. You can step outside of a bar to get a smoke, but stepping outside a ship means going overboard. Note I do not smoke, I just think this is unfortunately impractical. But at least they could all make casinos smoke free. The smoke from casinos on many ships also finds its way outside the casino.
  10. That is really a lot of words saying NOTHING. 🤦‍♂️
  11. It was a really fun, great excursion. The only negative is that I cannot now play a Bob Marley cd in my car when DW is my passenger because she gets sad that she is not in Jamaica. We were actually there one previous time for our 20th anniversary and stayed in an AI that was owned by the locals. It was like living in a botanical garden. I asked our guide for the Bob Marley bus about it and he was aware of it and also let me know it no longer existed.
  12. Yes, when we cruised to Alaska, we found 3 cruises on our TA's site that met our timeframe. When we called him, the one that was listed as the most expensive ended up being the least expensive. It was on a line (Princess) that allows TAs to discount (though as you wrote not list it), and possibly he had obtained a group of cabins. (I know he had done this on another cruise in which he got a very good price for us.)
  13. There was a bus with Marley music and a guide who gave information. The route is all twisty narrow turns, and the driver had to honk his horn to warn any vehicle coming the other way as it was all blind turns. You get to the Bob Marley house and mausoleum and explore and hear more music. When you get there, a local product is being sold. (And it is not coffee. 😉) Also, on the ride into the interior, you really get to see a part of Jamaica not often seen by tourists. Can folks who just recently found Sid, join in in that group?
  14. Lest you forget, this is the same IT department that came up with the Medallion. 😒
  15. Excuse my ignorance, but I noticed both you and Sid mentioned "the Tribe"? What is that? We have a booking this summer on the Prima, London (Southampton) to Reykjavik, so will be interested in your review. Do you intend to get off the ship in Jamaica? (Sid did not.) We have really enjoyed Jamaica both on a land trip and a cruise (on a different line) that had a Bob Marley excursion. Have a great cruise.
  16. We've been on 2 HAL cruises, and the after dinner experience on each was vastly different. In 2009, we were on the Noordam sailing in the Eastern Mediterranean. I don't remember the name of the lounge, but we danced the night away. In 2018, we were on the Maasdam, Boston to Montreal. DW liked those BBC films, but I remember them being earlier. We listened to music at the Ocean Bar, but the amount of dance music was negligible. It was disappointing. We actually complained to guest services, and were told to go on a larger HAL ship.
  17. I am sure it does probably stating the only jurisdiction in which you can bring a suit, one that is convenient to them and probably not for you.
  18. In 2020, we were supposed to have a cruise from Southampton that was lost to Covid. We were going to do a ship excursion back to Heathrow that stopped in Stonehenge. DW said she was actually looking more forward to that then the actual Norwegian fjords cruise.
  19. Not to contradict everyone, but we once had an experience where after we disembarked, we still felt we were on our cruise vacation. Our ship was in Dover, and we took a ship's excursion to Heathrow which included a walk in Dover and a trip to Canterbury. Also, there were 4 others on the excursion who had been on our roll call and we had met on the cruise. The trip to the airport still felt like part of our cruise experience, not the usual it's over feeling.
  20. And that is a good thing. If you cannot get your safe open due to either a malfunction of some sort or you screwed up setting the combination or you just plain forgot, there has to be a way to get into your safe.
  21. I find it amazing that there are people who find it funny that "I can only imagine what an utter disaster a real muster would be.".
  22. The first 5 words of your post are WHEN THEY HAD MAGNETIC STRIPES. I guess batteries will stop dying on medallions when they no longer have batteries.
