This is true. My DH and I used to book balcony cabins. In 2018 we received an upsell offer for a mini-suite and we took it. After that cruise I told DH we would be booking mini-suites in the future. Fortunately for him I didn’t have the same reaction when we stayed in an aft-facing Penthouse Suite. While I enjoyed it I’m perfectly happy in a mini-suite, especially if it’s forward facing on a Royal class ship.

For those recommending Pipi’s and Joe Jacks in PV, are you able to walk to these restaurants from the ship or do you need to take a taxi? We will be in PV in February and would like to try one of these recommendations. TIA.

Thanks for the Live thread! I love Bucee’s!!! We just got back yesterday from a trip to NC and TN and found a Bucee’s to stop at on drive to Nashville. Had to pick up a couple Bucee ornaments for our Christmas trees. Have a great trip and thanks for taking us all along. I’ve enjoyed your previous Live reports!

I don’t have Paramount + but I’m able to watch all episodes on YouTube TV. I’m slowly getting through the episodes and I’ve made it through episode 8. Only 4 more to go!

We were on the Lido deck and I noticed that most of the balcony cabins in our hallway had 4 occupants. Even some of the inside cabins had more than 2 people. That’s why we were over capacity. It would be interesting to know how many passengers can really sail if every bed/couch/upper berth was filled. As stated by @VibeGuythe cruise line considers 100% capacity to be double occupancy in each cabin but obviously many cabins can sleep more than 2 people. On our sailing they offered several people on our roll call the opportunity to “move over” to another sailing because the ship was so full.

The embarkation day lunch was in the Concerto dining room (deck 6 midship) from 12:00 to 1:30.

We had a great experience with boarding the Royal 2 weeks ago. We arrived at the parking garbage (80 Francisco) at 10:30 and were on the ship at 11:00. We walked straight to our cabin to drop off our luggage and rooms were ready. When we walked into the terminal they had already boarded suites, elites, platinums and groups 1 & 2. I was amazed at how quickly the process went despite the ship being at 109% capacity with 3,887 people onboard. We’ve always had a smooth boarding process in SF but of course YMMV.

Princess removed the internet purchase from the Cruise Personalizer awhile ago. You now purchase internet through the Medallion App. If you go into the app you should have an option for Medallion Net. This is where you can purchase internet. I just checked on a November 2023 cruise and I’m able to purchase it for the current (lower) price.

Wow!!!! I only ate in the MDR and Alfredo’s this cruise so I didn’t know the IC ran out of food. That’s crazy!

This wasn’t my experience. I thought it was ironic that I received the Princess survey at 3:20 am and when I clicked on it to start the survey the email wouldn’t open on my iPhone 13 Pro Max. This was yesterday morning on the Royal.

I couldn’t agree with you more!!! Having worked for an organization that used “A” for a major project this was my experience too. My DH and I both sighed when we saw “A” was the developer of the Medallion app.

We just got off the Royal Princess today and the internet was unusable. We had pre-paid for it and requested a full refund on day 2. Our request was granted….no questions asked. Ship was at 109% capacity with 800 kids onboard so this may have contributed to the lack of internet. Our next cruise on the Royal is in January and we’ve got the + package so I guess we’ll be stuck with the internet this time. I’m wondering if they do any partial refunds when you’ve purchased a package. Anyone have any experience getting internet refunded as part or Plus or Premier?

Currently on the Royal Princess and the Love Boat Dream is the red version shown in post #1. But the good news is the Crème Brûlée is back on the dinner menu.

Currently on the Royal. The Vines menu shows a Moscato and 2 Rosés. In addition to the Rosés listed I’ve also seen Whispering Angel Rosé available.

The internet on the Royal is exactly the same…..non-existent! Currently on the ship for the thanksgiving sailing. Ship is sailing at 109% capacity with 3,887 passengers. I think this has contributed to our slow internet. We got a refund for ours and have been catching up on cellular in Ensenada today. Thanks for your trip report as it’s been a fun one to follow.

I learned you can’t purchase Princess Plus once you board the ship. We will end up being money ahead without it on this cruise as we have enough onboard credit to cover tips and some drinks. We did pre-purchase internet for $40 and ended up getting a refund for it because the internet is so bad on our cruise. We are sailing at 109% capacity which makes the internet unusable on our 4 day sailing.

We are scheduled to sail tomorrow and didn’t purchase Princess Plus for this cruise. This afternoon we received an email from Princess with the option to still upgrade for tomorrow’s sailing. The email says to upgrade through the Cruise Personalizer which can’t be done at this late date but I’m wondering if we can upgrade when we get on the ship tomorrow? We have a couple hundred $ in OBC which we would like to apply to Princess Plus if it’s available onboard and we can use OBC. Has anyone been able to purchase the plus or premier package on the first day of a cruise? If so, did Princess allow you to use your OBC to pay for a portion of it?
