Have you tried them yet? Hoping they have the BFC on the Discovery for the Thanksgiving cruise. Looking forward to hearing your report on the ice cream desserts (if you try them). I’m wondering if you can order one and ask them to leave off the lollipop, twizzles and candy canes? I’m not a fan of hard candy so these would go straight to the garbage.

Very interesting and thought provoking thread. It’s given me something to think about. Thank you @HaveDogWillTravel for sharing what you have learned. There an are handful of people I follow and respect on CC and you are on the list. You’ve given me something to ponder and consider on our upcoming cruise where we don’t have a package on one of our legs. I do have to say I feel a little misled by Princess in believing that the gratuities are just that…..tips for the exceptional service we receive…..as opposed to regular salary for the crew.

Are you able to purchase the package on your iPhone? Or do you need to physically talk to someone get the package? Is the price for plus $60 per person per day without the extra % charge for the vacation protection? For me this seems to be the main advantage of waiting to purchase it onboard and of course being able to pay for the package with OBC. We are sailing in 2 weeks on a B2B and have pre-purchased Premier for the first 7 days but have nothing for the second cruise. We are planning to use our OBC to get the plus package for this cruise. Or maybe we will upgrade to Premier depending on how we like it on the first leg.

I was also thinking I gotta connect with this girl offline so I can find out where they are staying so DH and I can go there sometime! I figured it must be some kind of swanky place!!!

I just found your trip report today and thank you for sharing! We will be on Discovery 11/18-11/29. I’d like to try this new restaurant but it’s not available to book so we will try and book it onboard. Our 2 cruises both still list Bistro Sur La Mer. I’m looking forward to the mattresses on the Discovery as we love a firm mattress. The ones on the Majestic, Royal and Sky were too soft for us so we should be happy with the Discovery. I look forward to continuing to read your report and I hope you enjoy the second half of your cruise as much as the first.

I’m surprised to hear they still give out pins! I remember the old days when they would deliver your pin and a benefits packet to your stateroom.

I’m curious to know if you’ll get the Elite benefits on your next cruise automatically or if you’ll have to go to Guest Services to get updated status? Please report back if you can. We have a B2B next month and I’ll be Platinum on the first cruise and Elite on the second cruise. My plan is to hold out on doing laundry until the 2nd cruise and hopefully get it done for free. Also want the mini-bar set up for cruise #2 as we don’t have Plus/Premier on #2.

Love your photos of the sea lions in SF. They are fun to watch and listen to them barking!

We’ve sailed with him twice and we enjoyed him. He’s very friendly and likes to chat with passengers. Had a good laugh with him over the Marriage Match game when he had to deal with a difficult contestant.

@BlerkOneThank you for the MDR menus. This will help us decide which nights we’ll do specialty dining as we’ve got 2 included dinners. I’ve read on a couple blogs that Princess is opening Sabatini’s for lunch on some days. If you have time, would you mind asking if they are doing this on the Discovery? If they are open for lunch what days are they open? We are sailing the same itinerary you are which is why I’m asking. TIA.

We went on this cruise in November 2019 and didn’t have any issues with mosquitoes.

I’d love to be able to set this up as we’ve been using Express VPN for international travel with limited success. I’d like to be able to access YouTube TV and Netflix from outside the US. Do you have any good resources you’d recommend for the setting up a VPN through your home system?

We haven’t received our medallions yet for our next cruise but I did see the same piece of junk was added onto my husband’s order. I thought it was funny (and cheap) that they only give one person the extra item even though we both paid for the Premier package. It would have been nice for Princess to offer a choice for the medallion accessory and also made it 1 per person and not 1 per booking. In the meantime I’ve bought a cute holder with some bling for my medallion on our next cruise and DH can use the cheap blue thing from Princess if he wants to.

We took our first trip to Europe since you know what and I totally forgot about no face cloths. So I spent my first morning in Athens looking for a face cloth. Had to go to several stores until I found one. I used to always bring one on our trips across the pond but I guess since “it” happened I forgot about this little detail.
