  1. Just read through all of this, I truly hope you are enjoying your vacation even with ALL the missteps from Celebrity. I kind of wish I didn't read through it, a lot of the issues seem minor, but that makes an expensive vacation not so good IMO. I have a Celebrity Ultimate Caribbean in March and if I have the same minor problems and school lunch looking food, it will be my last for a while. Thanks again for the post and ENJOY your vacation!!!
  2. Cancelled and re-booked some excursions and specialty dinning and saved a few hundred dollars. I'll take it..
  3. We need more electric cars to help offset the cruise ships pollution.
  4. Had a similar experience in regards to shows on Beyond in January. I was on Apex in March 2022 and the main production shows where outstanding!!! On Beyond in January 2023 it was incredibly difficult to listen to, bad singing, off key, out of pitch just bad, left early the two show we when to, didn't bother with the third.
  5. I've been on Apex and Beyond and only ate in the MDR once on Beyond and that was in January 2023 and was not impressed at all. We actually got up and left before being offered dessert. Very slow service and very basic food. The issue on this cruise was the Ocean View buffet, for diner they had 75% of the food stations closed, this from what I've been told is no longer the case.
  6. Virgin uses Starlink for internet. On a Med cruise in June I upgraded after day 2 and didn't really have any issues. It did cost me $125 but I was willing and prepared to upgrade...
  7. I booked a 10 day 2024 Caribbean on Beyond in June 2022 SV, premium drinks/Wi-Fi and $800 OBC for just shy of $6000. My parents decided they want to join and itā€™s over $7000 basic drinks/Wi-Fi and no OBC for a less desirable cabin and location. Book earlyā€¦
  8. Was on Valiant in June and we docked. I ended up over sleeping and missed my excursion so I walked around the port area, very easy with plenty of shops/places to eat.
  9. If I listened to the not stop whining on CC I would have never gone on a cruise in the first place, almost cancelled my first ever cruise because of it. So glad I didn't.
  10. Had a similar thing happen on a San Juan excursion. On an Apex 2022 cruise I had a zip-line tour booked, I ended up cancelling and chose a less demanding (covid lung) excursion at the Bacardi distillery. That, for some reason got cancelled, and by then the zip-line was sold out, I was not happy. I ended up booking directly with Bacardi and had a great time. At the end of the day I think these cruise companies rely heavily on third parties for the excursions and anything can happen (staff gets ill, transportation problems, over booking, you name it..) So I cant really blame the cruise line when this stuff happens...
  11. The older I get, the more irritated I get with old people.
  12. With what Virgin Voyages is doing they are going to have to be much more flexible on many things or begin losing passengers. Virgin lets you change 3 days before sailing.
  13. Didn't think of that even thought I stuff all my shoes with stuff. šŸ™‚
  14. Just got off a Virgin cruise in the Med. They have no bottled water, you are provided with 2 carafe's filled with water in your room that are refilled as needed by your room attendant and there are several water filling stations around the ship. I did pack two different sizes of stainless steel water bottles with me (I was freaking out packing these things as they take up a decent amount of space) I thought I would hate this, as I like having bottle available at all times... It actually worked out GREAT. The water I brought on excursions stayed cold and the one time I needed more water on an excursion I just bought a plastic bottle for $2 On previous cruises I always over packed water on my excursions because I did not want to run out, and always seem to come back to the ship with un drank bottles that I carried around all day.
  15. I usually buy a T-shirt on board, but I actually saw a pair of shoes I wanted and after checking them online I realized they were a good buy. When I asked for assistance, the employees seemed shocked I was interested in buying something...I told them my shoe size (12 US mens) and they all looked at each other...after a minute of what appeared to be confusion I just asked for them to bring me any size 12....A short time later the employee came back saying the largest mens size they had was an 8. I understand I'm not at a specific shoe store, but they had at least 5 different styles of shoes on display, with very limited supply to actually sell.
  16. This is correct, any winnings are paid in "real" chips, but you basically need to lose all your promotional chip. I would only use OBC for this, spending your own money for promotional chips may not be the best idea...
  17. If youā€™re willing to spend the money $250 for half, $500 for full do it. On Beyond the cabanas face the pool, Edge and Apex face a walking path towards the ocean. It basically gives a very comfortable hang out spot for the entire day, there are drinks, and a separate lunch menu included.
  18. Virgin and Celebrity have a completely different vibe on their ships.
  19. There were ping pong tables in January on Beyond, in the same spot there located on Apex, so unless they permanently removed them they should be there. There is no arcade or mini golf. They do typically have ā€˜bags gameā€ aka corn hole set up at the roof top garden.
  20. Did not do the wine pairing, however I did have the drink pkg and had a couple glasses of Decoy Merlot.
  21. Best meal/service we had on Beyond. I have it booked twice on my next Beyond cruise.
  22. Smoking is not permitted in the casino.
