  1. We are booked on a 10 day January cruise and had a Mini-Suite and bid on Club Class. Received an email late last week from Princess saying a Club Class Mini Suite was not available but they offered us an upgrade to Penthouse Suite for the same price we had bid on getting Club Class. We were surprised and happily took the upgrade. Happy New Year Princess!!
  2. Agree. In all the cruises we have done can never remember what anyone wore but it always seems like their is a wide variety from very dressy to very causal. Basically, it is like any other night to us on a Princess ship anyway.
  3. Latest national statics are stating that sill over 400 people a day are dying from Covid in the US a day. How many from colds, flu or noro?
  4. When we were on the Majestic it was free for adults supposedly only.
  5. We have always been consistently told by the crew that the one thing that is really beneficial to them is to be mentioned in a follow-up survey or letter for exceptional service. This helps them get their next contract which is what they really strive and hope for. I doubt the big tippers in this thread are as benevolent as they say they are because their attitude sure would suggest otherwise on CC.
  6. Some people sure get themselves twisted in knots over their precious morality. The world is not going to always do what you want to have happen. Just take a deep breath and relax a little. People are not going to stop cruising because you tell them too and they are not going to stop having Auto Wages removed from their folios if they want too. It is their prerogative to do what they want. Much of the name calling on CC to those who disagree with the concept of tipping will not change any behaviors. Princess allows people the choice so it is OK and that is the bottom line. Here is a tip. If you are at certain levels in the Las Vegas casino/hotel rewards programs you do not pay Resort Fees. There's always ways in life to avoid paying unnecessary or arbitrary fees. Hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
  7. Wow. Very hyperbolic because on one hand you say they provide good service because they know they will receive tips and at the same time insult the OP for thinking that tips promote good service. Probably one of the reasons they provide good service is because they know they will not be rehired if the crew or individuals receive too many negative reports in the follow-up surveys. I agree with OP that auto-gratuities (?) seems a little like a resort fee and everyone knows how popular those hidden costs are in pricing of vacations.
  8. Agree. Our doctors would not do it unless we tested positive for Covid. Too many potential side effects they said.
  9. When we did our first cruise with Princess last January under their strict Covid protocols laundry rooms were not available and then on later cruises they we restricted for use.
  10. Vegas can be fun because there are a lot of sights to see. However, kids are not allowed to play in the casinos and there are many pools and clubs that families have no access to because they are designed to be strictly for adult partying during the day and night. Most people do not see Princess as being a cruise line catering to families.
  11. Las Vegas in the 1990's did try to attract families and they did succeed in attracting families. However, they soon learned that kids do not drink, gamble and caused their parents to spend more time with the kids and not visit the casinos. When they did gamble kids were often left alone which created another whole set of problems. Las Vegas has gone back to its' roots of Sin City and has been averaging 1.3 billion dollars a month in gambling revenue on the Strip the last 18 months. I have a feeling Princess will find out that families will not spend the money that the demographics they have now do. I know very few families who could afford a Princess World cruise let alone have the time to take one.
  12. Or elevate how Princess goes about providing entertainment on their ships during the day. Let them do the Hairy Leg/Chest Egg Drop and have even more fun.
  13. People are not even worried about catching Covid on Princess so I have a feeling this is not even going to make most passenger's worry lists.
  14. I think many of the Princess games are just silly, ridiculous and childish. Princess passengers give Carnival passengers a hard time for some of the games they have onboard but Princess games are just as nonsensical as Carnival's.
  15. Princess is the one who is different because its' ship is the one that is making most of the world news about the Covid situation on board. The media companies certainly do not report that it is business as usual to have that many cases on a ship and probably many more onboard.
  16. I still do not see how it would work? If you are not in the room for them to verify then I do not see how it would count. They always give you three chances to let them know you have a bingo before they close the game. I always thought you had to be present to win but maybe the times they are a changing.
  17. Are you sure this is on Princess? There is a cost to use the tablets and usually a person has to be in the room, call out Bingo and be verified to win. I do not understand how being in another part of the ship could qualify a person as a winner in Bingo and that they would allowed to be able to claim a prize?
  18. Some of these defenses and recommendation for traveling and cruising in the era of Covid are so simplistic that they almost sound correct but they are just bogus to the core. 800 passengers on a cruise ship who are ill (with a potentially fatal disease) is not the norm in any world and most would consider it a major major problem. Princess dropped the ball too early on lowering their successful Covid prevention protocols for the sake of profit versus passenger health and that is the only thing that has changed this year since January 2022. People should not pay for an expensive vacation with a high probability of illness if the company has no interest in prevention of diseases onboard. It sounds like some are saying cruising is fun but you are probably going to get sick and not enjoy it? Bon voyage!!
  19. Tipping is such an individual choice and people determining what they will do based on a variety of data points but a major one could be did the service did not warrant a reward. There are no right or wrong answers and the sky is not going to fall if a person does not follow the norm. It is a tip and that's all!!
  20. We have ordered flowers for every cruise we have ever done and now you order them at the Passenger Service Desk when you board instead of pre-ordering. We usually order the Princess Bouquet which is around $39.00/$49.00 and would be much more expensive on land and it is very well done with a wide variety of flowers in the arrangement. It last from 7 to 10 days if you add some water. One of the better products Princess offers at sea.
  21. I agree also that Sur had one of the best filets I have ever eaten. We were disappointed on the Discovery that Sabatini's no longer uses white table clothes. It felt a little bit like a diner to us compared to the usual Sabatini experience on other Princess ships.
  22. In many countries in Europe and other parts of the world restrooms are privately owned and the payment to the attendant is more for the service of being able to use a freshly cleaned restroom and not considered a tip.
  23. Except for what the IRS took or is going to take. That is what happened to us when we won the Snowball Bingo jackpot on last cruise and they were right there with the IRS form for us to fill out. 🙁
  24. This was the same experience with our family contacting Covid on the Ruby earlier this summer. Very little contact once in isolation and we all are still waiting for FCC for those days we missed of our cruise while in isolation. We think it is a broken promise now and lost cause. Unfortunately we are disappointed in Princess because of this treatment.
