  1. Do yourself a favor and bring your own wine with you. The stuff they give away is swill. As for the binoculars, also bring your own. The ones they supply look like Cracker Jack prizes! Quick story. On my first cruise in 2001 we were on Celebrity Zenith. Zenith and her sister ship Horizon used to sail from New York to Bermuda together. One would go to Hamilton, and one would go to St. George's. They would stay one night and then switch. They would sail back to New York together. On our way back I was on deck having a drink and watching Horizon with my binoculars. I spotted a guy on Horizon, with a drink in his hand, binoculars in the other, watching Zenith. I tried to get his attention by waving, but it was no good. I hope your dad has better luck than I did! Elvis
  2. Now you're talking!!!! Remember how they used to open it up an hour early just for pictures? Those were the good old days! Elvis
  3. Allow me to relate our experiences on our recent Escape cruise. Cagney's was okay noise-wise. The food however, was not as good as it's been in the past. My prime rib was very tough. Not inedible, mind you, but tough. Le Bistro was great! I thought the food was excellent. I also always have my favorite dessert: Ile Flotante, "Floating Island". Ever since I saw Katherine Hepburn make it for Spencer Tracy in a movie I've been a big fan!
  4. I've been reading the "members reviews" to see if my review has been posted. (It hasn't) It seems that 9 out of 10 reviews are negative. I have no complaints. Of those complaints that were cited, I just didn't see it. Now, we were in the Haven so we got exceptional service to begin with. But, when we were at the bars and restaurants, we got nothing but good service. This was before anyone ever saw our Haven sea pass. I guess some folks are just impossible to satisfy!
  5. Don't remember the name. but it's up from the dock, on the left side of the main street. Elvis
  6. Just a suggestion. There is a really nice ice cream parlor in Bar Harbor if that's your thing! We're on the 9/24 sailing, so you know where we'll be! Elvis
  7. Personally, I think this deserves a declaration of war against Canada!!!! Elvis PS What about the Haven Lounge?
  8. If you walk along the waterfront in the morning and see a guy passed out on a couch, please be quiet! I need my rest! Elvis
  9. Glad to hear it! We're owners!!! How come I didn't get the owners suite? Elvis
  10. On my Breakaway cruise in March of 2022, I was treated by Priscilla to a Louis XIII cognac. It was a religious experience! Is it worth the price? I think it was, but only you can answer that! Elvis
  11. You might see some whales as you sail down the St. Lawrence to Quebec. We took a cruise to Quebec a few years back and there were whales all over the place! They are Minke whales and they travel up the St. Lawrence to breed! We were on Celebrity, 14 day round trip from NY. Elvis
  12. We were upgraded on our very first NCL cruise. We went from a regular balcony to a spa balcony. Pretty good you say, except no one told us we were upgraded! The room was the same except for the spa privileges. About two weeks after the cruise I got a bill from NCL for the bid! After a call to them I ended up with $500 credit! All things considered I would have much more wanted the upgrade! Elvis
  13. It was a well-written book by a knowledgable author on a topic I liked. Yet, after three days, I was only a chapter into it. Because I always fell asleep after four or five pages. Every cruise I always take a book with me. I've never gotten more than five pages into it!!!! Elvis
  14. we just have three days left on our cruise! Can't go on your next one until you're finished with this one! Is mom having a good time? Elvis
  15. We were in Breakaway's Haven in March 2022, just after they were re-starting. When we went to the Haven pool There were maybe 10 people there. The ship was sailing at 65% capacity. Of those 10 people there was a couple with two children, about 6 and 7, that were just running wild! Priscilla and I were in the port side hot tub which is designated Adults Only. Little Poindexter decided he was going to jump in. Priscilla told him that this was adults only. He told us, "I can go anywhere I want! I'm in the Haven!" At that, I got up into the child's face and growled at him. He immediately got out of the hot tub and went and told his father who was busy drinking his beer while mom was doing her needlepoint. Dad never came over and confronted me, but Priscilla yelled at me for growling at children, again!!! Was I wrong in doing that? I don't think so! The kid never bothered me again the whole cruise! Elvis
  16. Now that's what I call a vacation!!!! Elvis
  17. Quick question! Are you traveling with children? If not, you have way too much luggage!!!!! Elvis
  18. On our Breakaway cruise in March of 2022, we left our jackets in the closet when we checked out. My jacket was returned to me about 2 weeks later. My wife's jacket was never returned! Elvis
  19. Bogie, Cary Grant, Sean Connery, And Daniel Craig! They knew how to drink!!!! Elvis
  20. That my friend is a martini! Elvis
  21. In my opinion there is only one drink that should be called a martini and that's a gin martini! I can understand a vodka martini. James Bond drinks that and you can't argue with him! I'll never understand any other drink that is called a martini, like coffee martini or a chocolate martini! As far as I'm concerned, they are all abominations!!!! Enjoy your cruise! Elvis
  22. I'm a vodka martini kind of guy! Tried a gin martini on my last cruise and I wasn't impressed! You should try a Celebrity cruise! They have a martini bar on some of their ships that is outstanding! I've never had a Moscow Mule. I want to try that! I also intend to try a "smoked" bourbon old fashioned! Also, no cruise will be complete without a Louis XIII cognac! Elvis
  23. The technology does exist to make indoor smoking rooms with hepa air scrubbers, so it just comes down to a matter of cost for the cruise line to do so. 😕 I think they should have a separate cigarette lounge just like they have a cigar lounge. However, as a cigar smoker I don't want them anywhere near us! I hate the smell of cigarette smoke and get highly put off when a cigarette smoker comes into the cigar lounge. And to the person that claims to be allergic to tobacco smoke: it's your problem, not ours. I would respectfully suggest that you pick a different vacation venue! Elvis
  24. Thank you! I always wat to know who's doing the driving! Elvis
