  1. Unless you find a really good deal I'd not book now until you are sure of the dates. Carnival typically pre covid had good prices closer in. I found better prices by waiting. I know you want to plan but I'd wait until you know for sure the dates. Would have to be a heck of a deal to book early for me. .. and those deals seem to have dried up. Wait to book.
  2. They always leave a scan to plan thing on my bed where you can tell them you wanted to walk off.
  3. I got a almost free carnival alaska cruise and turned it down. I dont want to fly the way flights arent dependable. I'm glad I decided no the more i read. Nothing to do with alaska, I think I'm not the only one who doesnt want to fly. It's a mess.
  4. When you get onboard there is a popup or go into settings and sign onto rcl wifi and then when asked click use the app for free. I could access all rcl sites in addition to the app. For free. Check prices for future cruises etc. Put your phone on airplane mode so it doesnt try and connect. I used a tablet so didnt have to do this.
  5. My cruise planner I saw says 12 bottles or 24 cans of water. I think its to give rcl the choice which to deliver. You cannot choose which .. it just says one or the other, 15% off $17.99 or whatever.
  6. I just read yesterday that due to supply chain issues the wines on amenity list might be substituted and the now the truffles are gone, not just the towels that were already reported. Still has 3 white and 3 red to choose from, but not the same as listed .. I think the blog who reported this cant be named. But diamond plus also gets a amenity. ..
  7. I was always a terrible speller and great at math. Given a choice I'll take math as it's done more for me. Those tests where they give you 4 spellings of a word, after looking at them they all start to look wrong. But if there was no spelling on the tests I score genius. Good thing I can make you feel good by correcting my spelling. I freely admit I cant spell and never could. Doesnt bother me. But ,inda fun it bothers you. You arent going to fix me being able to spell .. but keep trying. Amazingly enough I did well in other english courses. I have a teaching degree in English (and music) hahahahaha. Just goes to show you. I changed to business and never taught. I picture you like my latin teacher who used to stand at the top of the stairs to spot gum chewers.
  8. I've had excursions booked for sept since at least march, way before 90 days out and friends booked UDP and other pkgs. Agree it's a made up reason. I had trouble booking a excursion just over a year out and their answer to me was maybe it's because it's more than a year out you cant get it out of your cart and finish the purchase, wait until it's just a year out and try again. .. I've since moved vision to radiance to get Panama stop but there were things showing over a year out. They dont know and just making up answers.
  9. I was talking about the ones with Hitachi or however it's spelled. Not the sushi part. Just wasnt spelling it all the way out.
  10. I see you want a hotel with cruise parking and to do things in new orleans. There are hotels in the garden area that include parking and the holiday Inn had cruise parking. There is a cc area where hotels might be mentioned. I started parking across the river at a hotel where you could park and it had a shuttle but even pre covid ran over $150. Sounds like you want to be close enough to walk so google hotels and look at that area on cc and price them out. I can remember way back when holiday inn was 99 plus tax but those days are long gone. The hotels right outside the main area will be less costly. Then see what you want to do. Sure are lots of bars lol. I'd start with the hotel then see what you can walk to.
  11. I do think there can be a noticeable difference on less expensive cruises on older ships. Ecstasy 3 day might have a different crowd than mardi gras. I certainly noticed it on grandeur. Of course criticising anything among the loyal you get attacked. OP was on a ship more than 20 years old. I noticed fewer places to eat. She said WJ opened at noon. On grandeur the cafe alternated hours with WJ. They dont have the staff I thought to have both open at the same time. Lines every morning at the coffee bar. On newer bigger ships there is a line for coffee and another for pastries or fruit or whatever. Only room for one crew to be standing there taking orders at the cash register. While older ships are pretty and lower priced, newer ships have more choices. Part of her complaints to me are just being familiar with the brand. First and last time on rcl. I felt that way on ncl, out of my element. They didnt clean my cabins for days and I kept asking. I didnt know I'd hit a switch that turned on a light over my door that meant dont clean. I went 4 days before guest services finally mentioned the light over the door. I was kinda aggravated as a first timer. Judging by a older ship and only trying the line once I'd have never done ncl again.
  12. I've ordered 2 appetizers and 1 entree. I think entrees are limited to 1, but appetizers dont have a limit. Idk children's ages for charges.
  13. There is messaging on the app for 1.99 pp but not everyone is thrilled. There is no notice when the other person gets sent a message, he just has to be checking messages and see it. Yes you can get wifi for 1 device and all 4 share it.
  14. I'd like to see Panama canal choices and prices.. glad you can see something. ..progress. Though now I got a back up on carnival dream who also goes to 2 of the ports. Panama and Columbia. Maybe I need a back up to my back up cruise.
  15. If you love the movies by the pool that's one thing grandeur had. Spider man long way home and other recent movies. I read it was broke on this ship. It's also brome on liberrty and they are so tired of being asked when it will be fixed.. never. Might be replaced in a dry dock. Parts too old to replace. Dont fo liberty OTS either if you want movies at night. I'm ready for some new ships I havent done. I'm even watching jubilee for a sale. New would be so nice... I'm in the mood.
  16. I did grandeur in may and it's the very oldest. Brillance was built in 2001 so close. I guess I'm spoiled by newer ships but missed having more food options. Fares reflected the ships age, a bargain. I had cheers on carnival and dont remember them leaving instructions in my cabin. So op didnt do any research or know what she purchased. Forgot she had coffee card, and had to ask how to get online. Not that hard. If I'm on rcl and try to use wifi I get a popup asking me to sign in or do I want to use the free wifi for the app. I click set up account, make a name and password. I'm not even a little tech savvy. But glad she at least went to ask how if she couldnt figure it out. I get 2 free days and it says how much I get I can click on. Does carnival leave instructions in the cabin of everyone who purchased wifi? Or if they purchased cheers. I dont remember getting instructions and had cheers twice. It is a older ship. Idk if I would do grandeur again ... though it was very cheap. Half the per day price of newer ships. .. lol I saw the price and that's why I jumped on it. Crew was short staffed. I just saw blerk had a thread where staff is being finally increased. Some govt form thing that was behind. Someone came over to rcl board a few days ago and will never do carnival again. Said the line for guys burgers was 1 hour. .its summer, ships are near full crew is doing their best. I'm taking a break from cruises after grandeur tbh. Until sept. Hoping things with staffing more normal. It's true. Ships are short staffed. Grandeur at least had everything. My liberty back in march was missing some food, cheeses especially. Caprese salad I think it's called with tomatoes and mozzarella they subbed sliced watermelon and feta cheese. I didnt try it but heard it was refreshing. I took a picture of it someone else ordered. I thought it was funny.
  17. Again it seems to vary. My Jan 30th has 0 excursions. I'm waiting for Panama excursion but we have none. I have a lot in sept and had some great sales. Dec we finally have some but not many excursions. No rhyme or reason. All you can do is wait.
  18. I think ctrl park was cheaper for me than ovs. I get a loyalty discount on balconies. Keep checking.
  19. I dont know her but I suspect we are similar age. Would work for me, though I am booking longer 7 days or more just because it's getting more expensive to go to Galveston. I have one of those 1a cabins on dream with one twin and 1 convertible sofa. I dont like hard beds. I'm a no on sleeping on the sofa. Lol. Too late to add someone on that one .. next year april to nov wide open. I'm looking for a deal. Everything went up. I'm not booking anything right now other than what's in my signature I'm sitting on my hands.
  20. Liberty sister ship now you can only book the ice show. The other shows you can add to your calendar but it says this is not a reservation. After you board. Just the one show.
  21. Idk but wonder if this is the same as what rcl calls healing ritual. If so, it's in the port. Your 17 year olds can stand outside and see into the tent or walk around, use the pool, eat Mexican food, see the flamingos. One more thing .. someone on my cruise said he just walked up and got this massage thing cheaper than doing it thru the cruiseline. Rcl has it 104 on sale for 77 and my friend got it less than $77 walking up. It's right inside the port.
  22. as I said I remember when they had NO supplement on 1A. I remember the furor when it was raised to 150% ... I must go further back than you. People were in a uproar when it went to 150%. Now they dont want solos they want families. I need the 2 sept cruises on rcl to hit 340 pts. Booked at double pts. .. I had way more pts on carnival after covid and then I found out about the dp340 code on rcl. Even before I'm able to use the code harmony inside balony is cheaper than a inside on jubilee. I'll wait on jubilee to come down. .. though after sept I'll get 25% off solo cruises on rcl. It's about the bottom line for me. I just want to cruise at the best value.
  23. I think it's also a change in focus. Carnival used to have 0 solo supplements on 1A porthole. Then it was 50%. Now its 100% or double almost always. They want more per cabin for their models not cater to solos. It's one thing that pushed me away. Rcl at 340 pts I get 50% off the 2nd fare. They are also building solo cabins as is ncl. It's nothing against carnival, it's their decision but if another line is cheaper I book the best price. I'm unwilling to pay extra for carnival. If it came down to a solo cabin on prima or a inside on jubilee .. I'd probably book ncl. But these 1A portholes were from a day gone by when carnival discounted solos.
  24. I'm not a no kids person. I know it's all personal. I see someone asks how is the wifi on grandeur. 3 will posts how bad it was and issues. 3 more will post and say how their wifi worked just fine. I couldn't attach pictures to emails and send on yahoo. Its certainly not as good. No way I could stand to do a live from like john is doing on oasis. Wifi was noticeably slow and at times didnt work at all. Other things. I did 3 carnival since restart. I did all pay restaurants for dinner on vista and the price is better than rcl and enjoyed most of the food. The japanese let them pick .. thumbs down but i let them pick the menu choice. The steak restaurant i thought was just as good as rcl. Then i did breeze b2b and regular dinners in Mdr and that was when it was a no from me. ..and i went back to rcl. Ncl to me has better food overall than rcl. I really enjoyed the food on ncl. 3 on ncl. Prima coming to Galveston.. we will see. Prices are also more than rcl. I've done 3 on princess and thought it felt stuffy atmosphere. Also liked celebrity. Maybe I'm not a dressy type is why I dont dislike carnival, though I too am taking a break from carnival after breeze b2b. Not a bad cruise .. but I'd rank equal to grandeur.. not good either.
