  1. Was it you who said you only book cruise ships that have surfing? The idea is spreading. A restaurant here in east dallas just opened with surfing. I'm booked on wonder next feb 2025. A year away. So long to wait.
  2. Right now they said year over year earnings up 40% which of course cant continue once the current prices are the base. For right now for me it's a buy, but long term I expect growth to slow a lot. I was talking to my broker yesterday. I'm not sure I want to put lots of shares in a long term account at these prices. I'd put them in my trading account where it costs me nothing to trade in and out. We had some treasuries come due yesterday and moved some $$$ into stocks. Bad timing the day after rcl ran up. Couldnt in that account until yesterday. Day before it was more like $114 where I would have bought, not at 122 near top of the current range. Cruise prices cant grow at 40% a year forever, not a bean stalk or nvidia. Yea I know growing earnings 40% isnt exactly the same as prices growing at 40% but certainly related. Even coke is saying they are getting some pushback now on price increases. Expedia thinks travel is leveling out and bad forecast. It's just rcl who says higher higher. (Not counting tech AI). People watching earnings are worried the consumer is pulling back. Buying the store brand instead. Buying a msc cruise instead of rcl.
  3. There are also other social sites where they are allowed to advertise rates. Or ask someone on your next cruise.
  4. The TA actually to me isnt crazy, though I looked at it now online and solo without putting in my number or DP340 says it's over $2800 booked direct. The crazy high one is the next leg, for 10 days I also booked. Said if I'm already on the ship it would be a shame not to see greece. The 2nd leg is the one where a balcony booked direct is over 5k. For 10 days but still high to me.
  5. No I'm on mariner 7 day this may, then I'm moving to florida. Already had booked oct harmony and added legs to it so flying back to texas this oct after I hopefully am moved. Then starting in dec booked out of PC mostly. May 2025 I'm booked on voyager TA. Not this may. I think my balcony for 13 days was about $1340 total. Is that price high to you? It includes my DP340 discount. I'm not sure what the advertised price was. So are you saying if I wait prices will be lower than $100 a day all in? It's just a regular balcony but I asked for pool deck and got it. Will be convenient.
  6. It's going to be tight, but I now have a doctor who another patient said before I went in, hes really good about the eye surgeon. That's all his card says eye surgeon, not what kind. I'm thinking my stuff moves without me at worst. And I go when I can after I get thru surgery. The quilts from my mom are a big deal to me and i just got a bunch from my bil daughter. No idea what she kept and gave me what she didnt sell at her store? So i called my cousin in lubbock and said any chance you will be in dallas before i move? She can pass stuff to my cousin in new mexico who really really values quilts too. Theh said as a matter of fact they could. They are visiting their lawyer daughter in Austin and can swing by tomorrow. They have a free hotel night and I said I'd take them out for dinner. I didnt volunteer to cook lol. I called for hours and all day is happy hour. I know my cousin will want a drink. Really looking forward to a night out. I saved out a few quilts for my friend in san Antonio I plan on getting to also before I move. This is going to be such a busy time. I've dreaded moving but now the time is upon me. .. and then I want to squeeze in cataract surgery. Idk how bad it is, he suggested it and I asked if it's better to wait because my dad did it and then lenses got better. He said no, now is better. So I said ok, let's do it, the sooner the better. I'm moving soon. I hope nothing else gets added to my schedule.
  7. Now that's awesome. I love the aft. You have me convinced to watch prices after final.
  8. I'm still not convinced a group rate booked early isnt a better deal than booking last minute. Though it gets hard to compare. If I book a group rate early, then get a balcony discount and DP340 on top of that. Vs booking late where I cant get those discounts. Or early booking obc. The leg after my TA, a balcony was over 5k, but with group etc "only" $2700 total. About half the printed rate, but 25% was my solo discount. I could find the published rate for my TA but I really have a hard time comparing since I dont book the published rates. But once I get moved I will certainly consider last minute TAs from Florida. Where is that magic wand to get me moved. So much work ahead of me.
  9. The big thing nowadays with royal imo are group rates which are refundable and a good deal less expensive than booking direct. More so than freebies. With rates so high now I think people would rather have lower rates than freebies. I get some obc with group rates, or early booking bonus, not sure plus 100 shares of stock that almost always cover my gratuities. Got a few coming up with even better prices, no obc. Prices are double and triple what they were coming out of covid and so prices of the cruises and how to get lower deals I think seems to be my personal emphasis. I'm sure there are a few TAs doing freebies but I'm going with a TA with group rates.
  10. That's kinda what I'm doing. Except using a heating pad first for 5 minutes. Thanks. Agree on the comment above. I was disappointed when celebrity took gratuities from their included pkg.
  11. Those long flights worry me. I was looking at flights for dates closer in just to get a idea. Stay over a few days in rome and leave very early in the morning and fly all day are what I'm hoping for, rather than a over night. Trying a TA may of 2025. Cant see flights and hotels yet for my date. I have nothing booked all the rest of 2025. Waiting for inspiration lol. Moving to florida to cruise and then finding nothing royal offers that tempts me. So I'm looking around but havent hit on anything yet. All I see is I will get very tired of coco cay. Lol. Not just a new and different ship, but I'm interested in new ports. Royal seems to do same over and over more and more.
  12. Yes agree about ozark kid, my thoughts and prayers are with him knowing he is having a hard time right now with life. Thank you for the mask idea. I'd never heard of this problem. My gp acted like well it's not his area, I needed a ear nose and eye doctor, then sent me to a eye only doctor. I asked the doctor and he said now they have specialties they dont do everything. I'm just hoping this is the cause of the discharge from my nose. Its embarrassing during a Mdr meal to have my nose running. Everyone these days thinks covid? A mask sounds like a good idea to sleep with. Wow I'd never heard of this problem or had any clue what could be wrong and my gp acted like he didnt have a clue either. Thank you so much. The balconys on carnival they call cove balconys were a big hit when they were introduced. Idk if exactly the same as they are lower decks than the ones described here. Carnivals have cut outs and usually around deck 2 and if big waves they can be closed up completely. They were novel because they are so close to the water and it was something different to be so low to the water. Supply and demand sometimes they were higher priced than regular balconys they were just a different balcony right over the water. 7A - 7C on carnival .. regular are 8A. .. though I doubt you will ever try carnival, just saying they were a hit because so low over the water. Though these must be what he is referring to when he says cut outs. They can be completely closed from waves.
  13. George I saw nov 2025 msc will be in Galveston. I saw a eye surgeon yesterday. I have had a long time problem with a discharge from my eyes and nose and have told my gp but this time said it's worse something has to be done. Seeing commercials for all these eye diseases scared me thinking I could have something I will go blind from. Like I'm having sneezing fits where I cant stop and then I breath in and .... cant breath for about 5 seconds, cant get oxygen. My eyes are glued together in the morning etc. My eyes itch so bad I want to scratch out my eyeballs. Well I have globbed up oil ducts in my eyes. The oil is rock hard. And he wants to do cataract surgery. But we cant until we get my eyes so I quit rubbing and scratching and ready to tear them out. He prescribed drops 3 times a day and I put a heating pad on my eyes about 5 minutes to melt the hardened oil and then wash out my eyes with hot water and baby "no more tears" shampoo. In 2 weeks I go back to see if I've gotten back to normal and he can do surgery. I'm still set to move by may 20, and have a cruise may 6, 7 days on mariner. Each eye surgery is separate. Going to be tight schedule. At least it's not a disease, just oil clogged up in my eye ducts. That's a relief.
  14. Get 100 shares of rcl stock. Each leg will get another $100 obc. Dont have to hold the stock after its applied. Wouldnt cover my excursions on my voyager TA may 2025, but any obc helps.
  15. Before I sailed. As I said above grand Cayman was late opening after covid. So two different dates like 6 months apart had itinerary changes before we sailed. I know carnival gives obc if port fees are down at time of sailing. Per mbayley@rccl.com office it's on a case by case basis and up to each ship to decide if they want to give obc for lower port fees, or even missing a port. You will also read 10 other people who got obc. Its random. Sometimes they give obc, sometimes not. I've seen plenty who did get obc. I didnt.
  16. I had two changes and got nothing. I wrote and was told they leave it up to each ship if they want to refund port fees. Evidently my ship didnt choose to refund port fees. When grand Cayman was closed. I had booked grand Cayman and jamaica. Without grand Cayman both were cancelled and we were changed to cheaper roatan and costa maya (and cozumel). They dont allow you to get the lower port fees back before you sail per my TA. And after you sail it's up to the ship. This happened to me twice, changed to lower cost ports.. and the 2nd time we missed costa maya. We got back 0. No recourse. It's not a rcl policy to refund overage of port fees and taxes. The letter went on to say since if port fees go up we dont charge you the extra, if they go down, we dont refund the difference ... though now they added new Bahamas tax, contradicting their own letter. Not sure this is a battle you can win. Might or might not get a obc onboard. Some have some have not.
  17. Smokey knows. I'd say if grandchild is in there, you might even be allowed to change bil and wife name, since says one original name has to remain of original booked. Grandson is original booked. Do you have anyone else who can go? Move a adult in with grandson if that's all you need. Do a name change. I have not heard of a fee to do a name change. Whichever you remove from the booking the other can be a no show, if you just need one name change. I would keep 3 in cabin if thars how its booked.
  18. @Ourusualbeachwould know. I'm not 100% positive, but on rcl you can usually do a name change without a charge, though this is after final payment. One name on the booking has to remain the same.
  19. The sheets I have been getting are generic. Now harmony even quit giving invites, they are up in the corner of generic page. As of last dec. Last sept on allure i went to customer service and asked the the letter that is personalized and was told it was discontinued. Now you have to know what you qualify for, or figure it out from the page..
  20. I especially liked the appetizers pork bites and hawaiian shrimp poke. The sauce on the pork bites was what made it for me. Shrimp imo isnt poke. Poke is square cut raw fish, but I still liked the appetizer. I love poblano soup one night which rcl also has. I did several of the salads which are listed as entrees, idk why, waiter said because they are larger. Ribs both times were fall off the bone perfect. I cant remember what all else was listed as emeril picks but I always made sure to check them. New menu items a hit with our table.
  21. Within the past month pasta day or whatever, Jamie's or Giovanni depending which ship, lunch was again 40% off. All be one lunch black friday was 40% off. I've been seeing lunches packed and dinner not as much. Izumi sushi the one day, must have sold out was so crowded. Those 40% off deals sold lunches lol. I bought.
  22. Maui had that fire and ships are still not stopping there, last I heard. No matter what it was going to be rerouted, though I'm sure fewer days is a huge disappointment. All prices are up I'm paying more for less.
  23. Whenever you choose to use a travel agent to book, they now own the booking. You have to go thru them for everything. You could have booked direct but choose to use a travel agent. All price adjustments and future contact its true now has to go thru the travel agent who now owns the booking. You said this is your first cruise. The travel agent is being paid a commission to handle your booking. It was by your choice. So now yes they handle future communication. Sorry, you are having to learn how this works the hard way. This is true of all cruiselines, not royal in particular.
  24. I got 2 booked and thinking about a 3rd so understand what you are thinking. Booked the TA from port Canaveral to spain may 2025 and the 10 day after. The 3rd leg would end in athens greece if I added a 3rd leg. Right now I end in rome. No incentive, just takes more of your $$$.
