  1. It's too bad the boys didn't check out the Lido Marketplace, they have a really nice salad bar everyday. Glad it was a good trip.
  2. That is usually my spending situation as well. Iā€™m not sure what the minimum amount they require is because I usually give them $500, knowing I will never spend it all. ETA: Itā€™s easy to go to GS and add more cash to your account as needed.
  3. Yes, you get it back in cash right on the spot and that's the same for every cruise line. It's nice knowing I won't have any surprises once I'm home and have to try and hassle with it if there do happen to be charges on my account. After learning the hard way, I've done this on my last 12 or so cruises.
  4. You have the option to do either. Credit card or cash. If you start getting close to using up your cash on your account, they notify you to go to GS to add more. For me, itā€™s just easier to do cash.
  5. Yes, I go to GS when I board and tell them I'm using cash for my account and to remove the card. They have me sign a paper stating that and then hand them $500. I settle my account late the last evening of the cruise as I won't be purchasing anything after that. Easy Peasy and no surprises.
  6. This is why I only use cash for OB expenses now. Too many errors and difficult to do anything about after you disembark. Interesting how few errors there are when you use cash as opposed to a CC.
  7. There have been other posts about this. It appears to be legitimate however, I would never just send someone money that called me and then hope I get what I paid for, especially thousands of dollars. Buyer beware always.
  8. Thank you for the detailed explanation. It makes complete sense why they do that but if just two people are going and want a premium deluxe balcony at the aft of the ship (my brother) it's a bummer not to be able to just book it. Some of those balconies as you may know are bigger than others. We're not fans of GTY cabins, but that's us.
  9. Not sure how many people you're booking for in the cabin. This happens to me too when I put in 2 guests but when I change it to 3, the available rooms show up. I'm not sure why this happens but it's very annoying. You may need to call to book the cabin you want.
  10. We all used to cruise with colds, flu, Norovirus going around and now it's Covid added to that list.
  11. The aft balconies on Emerald deck are not covered. Dolphin & Baja deck are the only ones that have any coverage from above, they half covered. If you do a search for images, they are there. I tried to attach one for you but it's not working for me.
  12. The port charges and taxes will be automatically refunded to the original form of payment.
  13. You purchased the insurance once he got the diagnosis. Unfortunately, the insurance will not pay out the claim based on that. Wishing all the best to you and your family.
  14. Keep in mind, if you don't score a lounger in the Sanctuary, just outside that area are plenty of free padded loungers with two hot tubs. One deck below that is the Retreat Pool and Bar. There are lounge chairs there also. Good Luck and enjoy your first Princess cruise, the Discovery is a beautiful ship!
  15. Oh yes, the Splendor! With the pink & black circles everywhere and the "eggs" on the ceilings in the dining rooms. šŸ˜„
  16. I think based on your post, you should cancel and find another vacation. You yourself has said this experience has tainted the entire cruise for you. It won't get better, sounds like you will just dwell on it and especially if anything else goes wrong between now and then.
  17. They used to give out these tumblers with the Bubbles package. This was long before the Cheers! Package.
  18. Of course they did. Enjoy your cruise and land vacation!
  19. Check the booking again tomorrow, Iā€™m sure they are aware & working on the deposit glitch. I have not had much luck with the chat option so if need be just call the customer service line. Good luck!
  20. We all thought we were then also. It's a hassle to keep checking, I know but today is the first day of that promotion so keep trying.
  21. I remember this happening in early December with the $100 deposits on the first day of the promotion. Keep checking because it eventually corrected the deposit amount, I know because I was finally able to book the cruise I was looking at.
  22. I stayed in S218, a balcony on the Discovery last year and I LOVED that cabin. The balcony was larger than the regular balcony cabins and partially covered. I loved being able to open the door and see how busy or not the retreat pool was, it was a short walk back to my cabin if I needed anything. The Retreat bar was there and Lido deck was just one below to grab food. The hot tubs were one deck above. It was quiet in the evenings because the bar & pool close at like 7:00pm. This would be my first choice of cabins based on me loving to hang by the pool which is adult only.
  23. It's for those that book a guarantee cabin. The cruise line knows that there are a certain amount of cancellations that happen after final payment. If they don't get those cancellations, they start asking those that don't have flights, if they are willing to take the move over offer. This frees up the cabins for those that booked guarantee. They keep sweetening the pot until they have enough takers. The over bookings on Royal that happened was a very rare occurrence. The cruise lines have this down to a science. ETA: My parents received several of these over the years. They live 1 hour from the port.
  24. Just don't wait too long to respond if you want to take the offer. They will move onto others until it is accepted.
