    I was responding to the DVD part. We also turn on the TV when in the room to change, viewing your bill is handy, but don't need a DVD for that. We also don't have smart phones, and we also take longer cruises. If I wanted to watch movies I would stay home, we cruise to see, do, and experience things we don't or can't do at home; i.e. an interesting guest speaker.

    Got here just in time to watch her arrive.

    This is a replica of the first French settlement here in 1639. Every year they have what's called First Light, along with fire works.

    Sea days do not save fuel, you burn more fuel cruising then spending a day in port.

    We cruise for the itinerary. We enjoy interesting guest speakers. Did the big party ships when we were younger, partied until the sun came up. Cruised four other lines always came back to HAL, it feels comfortable. Yes some things changed, not always for the best, but over all we enjoy our time on board.

    Seems like a lot of sour grapes. Cruising is suppose to be fun. Missing a port because of a medical emergency or weather is understandable, they never do say why others are cancelled. We had two ports cancelled o our Med cruise in July, no reason given.

    Our 8 year old great granddaughter loved club HAL. She also loved to dress up for dinner in the MDR

    Loved your review of the Nieuw Statendam, great pictures. We are doing a Norway cruise on her in July, it really gives us something to look forward to.

    Glad you made it home OK, not the same cruising with an injury in a wheel chair. Airport sounds kind of what we went through in Venice.
