  1. Aloha. We have two long cruises in that area and since we have been blessed to be there before we will most likely cancel as the alternate routes are also to places we have been.
  2. Blessed to sail HAL since the 1970s. The old Statendam and every class after. Wonderful memories and while I understand progress and the need for larger ships, the history of HAL is memorable.
  3. Aloha. First…wishing everyone a wonderful and safe voyage. Have been blessed to visit the Middle East and it is certainly an area which is dynamic. We have two long voyages scheduled for this year and next which we may cancel because the alternative itineraries are places we have visited before and while they are wonderful have no need and desire to return. Yes a first world problem but we shall wait and see. As for your voyage you already sailing so I hope that the options are satisfactory. All the best.
  4. Aloha. Blessed to have spent much time in Tahiti. You will certainly enjoy and looking forward to your reports and pictures. Thanks for posting. Enjoy!
  5. Aloha. Enjoying as always your posts. Blessed to visit Grenada many times. Grande Anse is beautiful and we enjoy buying spices for cooking back home!
  6. Aloha. So enjoying your reviews and descriptions. Between you and Pete your styles of writing are comfortable and exquisite at the same time. We too have been blessed to visit Costa Rica and I am now craving Tres Leches which has become extremely popular in NY recently. I have enjoyed it for years but have taken it for granted like tiramisu. I am now on the hunt for it for a dessert choice in the next few days! All the best.
  7. Aloha. Thank you for your honest review. We have been blessed to cruise since the 1970s and for me, you did not offend this NYer who was born and raised in Manhattan. While we continue to sail out of Manhattan, Brooklyn and New Jersey, I personally do not like the NY vibe. The piers, the people etc. Been there done that with a city bordering on Anarchy which is why we divide our time between NY and Honolulu. If not for the kids, I would say bye to the apple. That said and enough of my soapbox I did enjoy your reports and wish you healthy and happy years of cruising!
  8. Aloha. Looking forward to your reports. We have been blessed to sail Carnival for decades and while not with Carnival we have sailed with departures very late at night. Something eerie about that but nonetheless enjoyable and special. Have a wonderful voyage!
  9. Aloha. Glad you had a wonderful voyage and thank you for sharing!
  10. Aloha. Totally enjoying your review and pictures especially I enjoy the food lol. We have been blessed to sail Celebrity since its inception with the Meridien in the 1990s. The Conrad was an excellent choice. Many posts talk about an inexpensive pre cruise hotel but in my opinion a more upscale lodging is just as important as the cruise itself. Enjoy!
  11. Pete and Judy. As you know I love your posts and of course the wonderful food pictures and menus. We have a few grand voyages reserved not only with HAL but with other lines. We enjoy some of the more upscale lines because they are smaller like yesteryear but that said HAL holds a place in my heart as I have been blessed to sail HAL since the 1970s. All the best!
  12. Aloha. Have been blessed to sail since the 1970s on various lines and ships. My experience has been HAL always had a priest and Mass said. During holidays other cruise lines as well. Perhaps there may be instances where the priest assigned became ill but we were fortunate not to encounter that problem. If I am in a circumstance where a priest is not on board there are many sites where Mass can be streamed including my parish in Honolulu.
  13. Aloha. We have been blessed to visit your island since the 1970s by air and sea. Your island is beautiful the people fantastic and just a great big thank you for bringing such beauty and sharing with the world!
  14. Aloha. Thank you for the information. I am thinking that notwithstanding the financial issues cruise lines face, they need to order ships for the purpose of securing shipyard space. It is possible they may not be certain as to which of the subsidiary companies will have them. Thank you again.
  15. Aloha. Enjoying these posts. We have been blessed to sail the world since the 1970s. The Drake Passage is definitely an exciting ride lol. With the Bay of Biscay, South Pacific, TransPacific and TransAtlantic, they are memorable voyages. Enjoy!
  16. Aloha. Looking forward to your review. Was blessed to attend Law School in Michigan and will say that I met lifelong friends there. I find the Michigan folks to be among the most welcoming and loving of those I have met in my world travels. Now dividing my time between NY and Honolulu I respectfully ask how you selected your CC name? That said have a wonderful voyage!
  17. Aloha. Seems like the old Port Guides just revamped. Always enjoy collecting them but they have useful information no matter how many times we have been blessed to visit. Enjoy the day!
  18. Aloha. Looking forward to reading your posts. Have a wonderful voyage
  19. Aloha. Glad things are going well so far. The laundry perk is something we treasure and certainly makes things easier.
  20. Aloha. Love your style of writing and hoping you have a wonderful voyage. We have been blessed to see the world and also sailed in the Zuiderdam. We love HAL sailing with them since the 1970s. Looking forward to your blogs. All the best.
  21. Aloha. Many crew have excellent memories and the same is true for airlines, hotels, restaurants. That said they do have photos of top guests and suite guests, high rollers etc which staff members are encouraged to memorize and remember so the guest feels extra special. We are blessed to divide our time between NY and Honolulu and enjoy a particular hotel in Hawaii for little staycations. The staff wears little earbuds and regularly communicate who is walking in, walking around etc so the name is mentioned. Interesting level of service.
  22. Aloha. As has been previously reported each airline defines its product and services so I would suggest you check that particular airline to determine if it is something you are interested in. For example we are blessed to divide our time between NY and Honolulu. Hawaiian has First Class which we love but since I can sleep the entire time believe it or not, I don’t take advantage of the service and amenities. Their premium economy provides that little extra legroom which is worth the additional cost as well as some other benefits and perks. Please keep us posted!
