  1. We try to cruise every season. But in the summer, prefer a no fly cruise- While I think the fares slightly higher, no hotel the night before or airfare- so not more expensive. It is so simple for us. Icon in March- from Miami Enjoy your cruises.
  2. Following Will be on Symphony in August with family. We just have about a one hour drive from our home on Long Island NY. We will all be in grand suites.
  3. We book with Celebrity air some times. When you pay the final bill the airfare is due. They do send reminders- we typically pay a few days before the payment is due. Never had a problem. If we use a TA and he/she knows we have celebrity air, when we pay we also get notification at least a week in advance- Never had a cruise cancelled.
  4. Hello Lois, Of course if you do not have a family or partner- you should "right size". But many do have children- and step children- and entertain family. We also have siblings- and neices and nephews-and many close friends, so we have a very large extended family. We are all very close and visit each other often. In your situation I am sure your condo works well for you.
  5. Ironically, we have a 2800 sq foot home- but if I could I would look for a larger home. We have four sons who are married and a total of 10 grandchildren- we love entertaining and it is great to have extra space. I do not understand why people downsize? If their family and friend circle get larger, isn't nice to have extra space? However if you can no longer afford the maintain a large house- you need to do what works best for you.
  6. We are senior citizens- Didn't like the infinite balcony, but other options- on the e class- Aft cabins, oceanview or if you can swing a suite great! The e-class ships are wonderful! We went on a b/2/b apex cruise and found it to be the best celebrity cruise we ever had- we were in a sky suite. Our next cruise in about a month is on an S class. We also enjoy the silhouette and reflection, other fine also. But you should try the E-class at least once-
  7. IF you are so concerned, take the cancellation insurance. It is pricey- but might work for you. Unfortunately, the ships are still sailing at capacity. Many people enjoy sailing regardless of any cuts. The cruise lines have the upper hand now- as consumers, we need to decide if cruising is really for us.
  8. Definately use Uber or lyft- not expensive and you will go directly to your ship. Easy- Or we take a regular taxii.
  9. While some people might have the money to spend on those elaborate shore X's and floating cabanas- let's not forget that if the weather isn't good- you paid for perhaps a half day. We went to Coco Cay and few months ago- but early afternoon it started to pour- we went back to the ship earlier then anticipated- I heard that those who remained, were okay after about 45 minutes- Didn't have a cabana. I assume if a storm comes early, you get your money back. But who knows.
  10. Looking foward to sailing on the Ascent. We had a wonderful experience on the Apex in a sky suite. We will do the same on the Ascent and Beyond. We LOVE the suite deck and lounge and the Sky suite and above have true balconies. We had an infinite on the Edge- found it claustrophobic. I felt it was too narrow- The three dining rooms is a true plus- Eden was great! loved that class of ship. But still enjoy the S class ships.
  11. Due to corporate greed, cruise lines, and other business have increased prices and cut service- I expect that this isn't only limited to Celebrity, but like dominos, all cruise lines will be the same- We pay more an get less. I feel sorry for the employee's on the ships, as they clearly will be expected to work harder and get paid less. We used to tip our butler, but will not if we don't see him/her daily and they are unable to provide us with any service like previously. We have lower expectations. But recently on the Apex- in a suite and it was perfect. Will be sailing on an S class in January. We now mix our vacations to include All Inclusive. Have had wonderful experiences in Cancun.
  12. We have visited the Sky lounge during the elite cocktail hour. Since no drink menu items were to our liking, we went to the bar and ordered what we wanted via our drink package. Never a problem. So if you have the package and prefer another drink- go directly to the bar in the lounge. Enjoy.
  13. We love the Lawn club grill- our favorite specialty restaurant- enjoy the salad bar and pizza appetizer. I typically get lamb chops, baked potato and grilled veggies- Try to avoid the hot cookie with ice cream after the big meal. My DH enjoys the filet- cooked the way he enjoys it.
  14. Tables for two are so close, it is like being at a long family style table. Some people will join in on private conversations- but if you like it- it will work for you. Enjoy
  15. Following. Sailing on the Symphony August 9th in 2 grand suites. Son Spouse and 3 year old and my DH and I. We are Diamond Plus members.
  16. I have had cooked food there previously. Not for me
  17. We have purchased unlimed specialty dining for our nine night cruise- we do not eat sushi- love the lawn club grill- will dine their three times- 2 times tuscan, 1 time Qsine- whatever it is now called and the rest at murano. We also get lunch when a specialty restaurant is open on sea days- I think. Enjoy your cruise
  18. We have sailed on the Silhouette three times over the years. Will again sail in January. We love the ship. Service great- love the lawn club grill and all of the suite amenities. Great service- looking foward to sailing on her again- and seeing the renovations. Not happy about the new butler situation- and the excessive increase for photographs, but will report back after our cruise. Interested in you analysis. Have a great trip.
  19. Positives: Muster Drill process New Ships Negative: Lack of service- employee cutbacks- No butlers for sky suites Prices crazy- especially photo packages
  20. Never did MSC. Like you have been in all types of cabins on Celebrity, except PH. Including Aqua (meh). I have a close nephew and his spouse trying MSC Yacht club. They have tried most cruise lines and cruise at least 6 times a year- Waiting for his review. IMO if you ever sail on NCL also like you said about the Yacht Club- either the Haven or skip the cruise. We enjoyed the Summit, M-class , Solstice class ships and three times Edge class. Loved it.
  21. Really depends upon the sailing. My sailing in January has been booked for weeks. Unless people cannot board or are sick, unlikely for any move ups
