  1. IMO the suite lounge is wonderful. You also will have access to the suite deck. The suite is much larger and more comfortable- Plus you get priority boarding, disembarkation and other perks. IMO so much better then AQ. Luminae is a so much better and service excellent. Blu not so great.
  2. never had a problem on Celebrity or Royal- Over 50 cruises.
  3. You had a bad experience, but try the Edge Class ships and S class ships. We had a horrible experience on Disney Cruise line. Norovirus. My DH got horribly sick for days. When you have a small city on a ship, people do get sick. But you cannot fault the cruise line. On our last cruise, many people were coughing and appeared sick. We take precautions. We are up to date on our vaccinations. But you can get sick in any public place. We still shop in supermarkets and the mall.
  4. Absolutely not. Some people need to have access to work and family. I would like to see people prohibited from using a speaker or facetime in a public area-
  5. I wouldn't venture in deep water- but I am not very adventurous! Nice to walk around the town- then go back on board. On a day when people are off the ship, it is really nice and relaxing.
  6. We withdrew our bids. I think for a nine night cruise on the silhouette, the amounts of the bid from a sky suite to celebrity suite were much too high. While I like a celebrity suite, it has one bathroom and bidding on a royal suite was crazy. Actually the booking for this cruise have been closed for a couple of weeks- so move up's, while still a possibility are remote. Maybe next time.
  7. While we love specialty dining- The price has to be ok for us. Perhaps you can swing a dinner and lunch in a specialty restaurant. We typically have cruise credit and use it for specialty dining. Enjoy your cruise.
  8. We always take the premium package- worth it for us- If you for example order something more expensive then the regular package- you pay the difference- so if you like the Martinis at the Martini bar made with premium alcohol, you will pay the difference- For a few dollars, we don't want the hassle of getting a bill at the end of the cruise- IMO not worth it.
  9. The summit was revolutionized. Heard it was done very well
  10. If you had a surgical procedure, not just a clean break- so much more serious then my foot which was a closed fracture- Hope it healed well.
  11. No glass blowing on any M class ships. Only a couple of S calss ships. The summit was redone and is beautiful. A nice smallish Celebrity ship.
  12. Of course carry an epi-pen. I would stick to very bland foods- might be difficult, but not impossible. I have a niece that has horrible allergies to many foods- Peanuts can be fatal. Difficult for her to travel- both parents are physicians. She manages I am sure you will be fine. Avoid buffets. So much potential cross contamination.
  13. I would suggest you get a walker- crutches are difficult. Even a wheel chair to use on a big ship will help. If the ankle is a simple fracture, perhaps you can use a boot and are able to walk. I broke my foot on the summit years ago- managed.
  14. I will pass. We booked the Icon- will wait until we sail- the class of ship might not work for us- why book another- Also obscene pricing.
  15. Following on the Jan 2 Silhouette cruise- Do you know who the suite concierges are? Will they be their in January?
  16. No. We find Blu not great. Tables for two are really a row of tables with very little space in-between- no privacy. The speciality restaurants and Luminae so much better. If you want- book a real specialty restaurant. Enjoy.
  17. Great to book on board. Lower Deposit and cruise credit. Many people transfer to a TA or agency that offers additional cruise credit and or perks- you have thirty days to transfer booking to TA- but verify as so much changes. If you do transfer, you keep the ship cruise credit and add the perks from the TA. The smaller deposit is great. Best way to book.
  18. You definately will fiind children on board in the summer- Have sailed to bermuda four times on the summit. Not like Royal Caribbean- but yes kids. I suggest you consider a suite as less children are in the suite lounge, restaurant or suite deck. Enjoy your cruise
  19. Sailed in a sky suite on the Edge and on the Apex. Well worth it! It is a ship within a ship concept. Loved the suite sun deck! Great service in Luminae. The suite lounge is one of my favorite places on the ship. You also have a "real" balcony which is so much nicer then a window that is on the Infinite balcony including AQ cabins.. We also enjoy special dinners in Eden and the Steak house. Other perks also offered to suite guests.
  20. I agree- in fact I felt clostrophobic in the Infinite balcony. Sometimes you cannot open the window and if you sit and aren't tall their is an obstruction looking out- Much prefer a true balcony- Unfortunately RC's newest ship also has infinite balcony cabins- will sail in a suite without the infinte balcony- really a window.
  21. We loved the Riverside Hotel! It is a historic hotel with the best location on Los Olas Blvd. If you want a "fancier" room. Book the new wing and upgrade- but for a night or two no problem with the cost effective older building. We enjoyed the restaurant in the hotel for people watching on Los Olas. The Boat house IMO was also excellent- Have stayed their three times, and will again in January. We also sailed on the Edge. Really enjoyed it, but the Apex even better! Did a b/2/b on her in a sky suite- the suite lounge and deck and wonderful! Our January cruise will be on the Silhouette, an older ship- but redone and we enjoy the amenities of the ship. Enjoy your cruise- thanks for sharing.
  22. I have sailed multiple times on Celebrity S class ships. Last time on the Equinox I decided to make something at the glass blowing studio. It was wonderful! Didn't expect to make such a nice Glass paperweight or have such a special souvenir. Great to try at least once on your cruise. When the glass blowing was introduced on the ship years ago, the sessions were too long, for many to sit on hot bench seats - but they did have a raffle and gave away prizes to some who were in attendance.
  23. One of my sons is a podiatrist. Have worked in his office and saw many cases of fungus. He advises his patients to change socks daily, keep feet dry and rotate shoes. So it is also for your health- not just a fashion statement.
