  1. We don't cruise for those particular experiences.. but great for those who enjoy them at sea. I agree however, .enough said and done ****** Back to one of the main points being discussed regarding crossover, is potential crowding at events..No one has presented data. We will not reach ZENITH or PINNACLE so I do not know how those events will be affected by crossover in the long term We do know that the regular Cap Club events are very crowded and we have skipped those for many years.. .Now the Elite Sr Officers events have become crowded as well..so we usually just stop by and head for a less busy location Used to be very nice intimate social gathering..but now seems it's more frequently about customer retention! We only have 2 cruises booked ahead on X.. Have been looking but not ready to book just yet!.
  2. A compelling story esp at a time of turmoil in our world. Thank you and your brother in law for sharing his personal insights.. Perhaps one may forgive, but must never forget... Glad your brother in law has found peace.
  3. living near NYC we have seen dozens and more prof ice shows with Olympic level skaters since age 5..and with our own child abd now grands . Many shows were in Madison Sq Garden or Coliseum size venues, so lesser shows on a smaller rink are just not the same for us. Cruise skating shows are just not like Disney on ice like comparing Broadway or West End talent (Cunard) or Prof Ballet with Celeb Singers and Dancers..( A for effort) Still nice for a cruise ship but not the same.no need to argue.. btw..my skating days are long over!
  4. hoping I am wrong as well.. if the alcohol perks were deleted wonder how appealing crossover would be? Those who are able to attend " big" ice shows in major venues, can easily compare. On Oasis we had to line up for tix and then the show..It was ok but not top pro ice show level and not worth waiting for...Probably cute for kids! Same for the diving show! It was amateur level... guess it depends on the experience level of the divers! Again..not worth the wait..nothing awesome.. although both skating and diving on a moving ship is probably quite challenging!
  5. My opinion Just another step towards full Royalization and obliteration of the unique X brand .More crossovers will cross from Royal (by sheer numbers), and they will push to make X a clone of Royal... other than X has nicer ships!
  6. buy a few specialty dinners and pre paid excursions on the card..adds up quickly!
  7. We have a 4 night cruise booked on Silhoutte in Dec..hoping for a sane and sober clientele!
  8. OMG really..lets hope this is not the future of X.. Charla is a classy cruiser with a stunning chic wardrobe and even on a girfruends cruise ai am sure it will classy fun all the way! ( Like our Gatsby Party on BEYOND)
  9. agree woth above post 2 tables will work better..or you may find yourselves at a very long table....with slow service and needing to shout . some in your group may want to try another venue once or twice??
  10. off to a great start...will be following ASCENT is a great ship..so far best of E Class for us!
  11. Royalizing has been underway since we had LLP... The new perk system will hasten the process by bringing even more Rotal crossovers who want X to be more like Royal....it's .so much about the drink perks! We enjoyed ASCENT ..esp the dining, our port excursions, and music BUT it was def a Miami style party vibe! Great & lively at times, but fewer quiet spaces and places on board! Just the way it is!
  12. Ahoy Charla.. would love to join you..but I would be the 'granny on board". Other than one trip to secure our Fl place against storms, we hang out at home in the summer..Long Island NY. We have and beaches all around...vineyards out east...great restaurants... dtr has a great pool and I love my deck/ backyard. HAVE A GREAT CRUISE!
  13. personally, while we enjoyed EDEN (regular menu) very much.. I do not think it's worth that price when there are other possible choices
  14. X will likely have a good share of Am guests...def bring costumes, decorate your door and enjoy. X lately is doing " shine" party in lieu of white nites...up to the CD
  15. great reminder Absolutely look for the Tear Drop 9 11 Memorial.. we have missed a few dinner res so we can take it all in for Sailaway! best to do buffet..
  16. Good catch..we must be our own proof readers..so many mistakes...even by the robots!
  17. Correct... Raw on 5. has .many more options than Sushi on 5, but OP will still have to pay! We were not impressed with Lunch at the Retreat sundeck..slow service and VERY limited menu. Have heard there might be mini sammies at Cafe Baccio. There are also treats set out inside in the Retreat at various times.. But mostly free is at the Buffet and burger place on regular pool deck!
  18. Le Grand Bistro would be a great lunch but OP does not want to pay maybe Eden Cafe or Spa Cafe...limited menus and hrs????
  19. We have been on most of the ships but most recently E Class.. .7 days on ASCENT in AQ class was great..we ate at BLU and Specialty Dining as well..EDEN was our favorite . The buffet was not great! We very much enjoyed the ship, itin and the excursions we chose. We had great service from room steward and did ok with cocktails...but not big bar goers so hard to judge that! Ship was fairly full, and sadly for us, it was a very loud party type vibe(January) set by the CD and his staff...It .was hard to find quiet spots at times..but we did. During the day games and sports were spread out indoors and pickleball was played up on the roof top garden...plink plink .. OP...To try X for 4 days would be smart..see what you enjoy. We are tryng Silhouette for 4 days in Dec..change of pace from E Class
  20. the Billy Joel afternoon tribute entertainer on Ascent in the Martini Bar area was SRO and truly outstanding. Better than many production or solo entertainer shows we have enjoyed on X ships! Some of the shows in E Class are very creative but seems on other ships they still repeat and repeat the tired old dogs
  21. wonder if they will have it on the Caribbean itins..? Would love to see it next January.
  22. yup.. that's what I do...Rides are short enough so it works OK!
  23. interesting..the glass elevators with views out make me " anxious" ..like riding in a cable car
  24. sometimes going early is good..but sometimes waiting is better. over the years we have experienced all permutations of timing....avoiding ice storms, snow storms, chasing hurricanes..etc Came back to Bayonne.once to cars covered in snow! We have 100% given up cruising in hurricane season, and only cruise in winter when we are in Fl already and drive across Fl a day ahead. But as mentioned, Fl has wild fires that cause road delays, big detours and road closures. On our last drive across in Jan, there was a fire on other side of I 75 that caused delays, a few fender benders and parades of big trucks hauling away post hurricane construction debris.. glad we went day ahead..avoid some stress. Always a good feeling to walk on board! Hope we hear that everyone makes it!
