  1. Glad we did these ports early on.. except for Astoria.. a very limited port!
  2. that is true but it ran over its alloted time..and then a residual crowd there are still some quieter spots along the winding pathway! and a sweet spot between blu and EDEN without a loudspeaker..and good chairs..and comfy seating near Guest relations area. .Seek peace and you shall find it!
  3. nicely organized posts I like salads for lunch..most other items not thar appealing ..the buffet on ASCENT was sub par!
  4. We were In AQ Class on Ascent in Jan..full house ??? .BLU was lovely...not crowded (we eat early).. so happy for that. The outdoor pool was a total mob scene.. from early on there was loud music and pool games. Solarium was pleasant early in the day.. Many nice spaces were taken over during daytime by sports..pickleball on Rooftop garden, curling in the CLUB, golf putting in EDEN.. We managed to find quieter spots, Cafe Baccio was nice, we could get lunch at Raw on 5 and at Cafe Bistro..Go early for good seats at shows..they do fill up.! Other than the loud and shouty vibe it was fine.
  5. only tried it once. for us it was early embark and disembark, and larger cabin and balc ..
  6. is this generally a bad time for cruising these itins..or just bad now? We are used to mostly smooth sailing in the Carib. For a trans Atlantic we'd want a very sturdy Ocean Liner vs a Cruise ship..
  7. exactly..and BARECELONA..the city of thieves! and NYC too!
  8. do not wear jewelry.. and secure wallets! also at the falls there is an old scam where they offer to hold your camera etc..but costs quite a bit to get it back!
  9. I am not much of a talent in the kitchen but will def try this! Salmon is one of my favorites! Thanks
  10. the trolley tour sounds nice because it is authentic rather than made fir cruisers.....we'd try that..thanks for the idea!
  11. value trips at Hyatt Place is a great deal.but they have some black out dates in winter It is near the shopping center and restaurants.. , nice bkfst, wifi and acceptable pool..We miss it! We will stick with the Holiday Inn for the next 2..
  12. the Salmon appetizer in photo looks very good..Can you share more about it?
  13. I never tried kippers, but would if the opp arises.. Without the hollandaise sauce..I believe it's no longer eggs benedict... it's poached egg..We like ours with Canadian bacon on Eng muffin
  14. We also prefer BLU menu and the BLU pre dinner snack to Luminae..Some nights there on BEYOND, nothing appealed to us, slow bread service . Our seats in Luminae were either in a dark area against the entry wall or a loud crowded area in the middle! Sommelier was over worked. We stopped going to Lum.. went to BLU or Specialty rests
  15. Blu on ASCENT was a wonderful experience!
  16. inside the port gates are shopping, food. music at times.. .. sort of a " fake" port but we enjoy it! Felt safe and clean! we went on an excursion from there. It.was poorly organized.. we would not do it again, AND we would not walk outside the gated port!
  17. i eat fish for bkfst most days ( lox..smoked salmon, herring, sardines, etc) and 2 days eggs . works for me! sad to see those luggage tags again !
  18. Others have been confused as well. .I think it's because of the typeset... lower case l looks like a cap I on most computers!
  19. was that hotel on 17th St? or another ES, closer to the FLL airport? The one on 17th st has a great location but was sooo shabby on our last visit..dust all over, broken down furniture, terrible beds .. and the comp breakfast. buffet was just so so ! They said the hotel would be re-done but had no set date. Needs a complete upgrade! In Jan we stayed in Dania at a Wyndham hotel.. It was VERY expensive, not very appealing, but had free parking, and was fairly close to the port entry. Only 1 restaurant was nearby and the breakfast buffet was expensive. BUT they sold us a bagel with free coffee. For our next 2 cruises in Dec '24 and Jan '25 we are booked at the Holiday Inn by the Convention Center, 17th St. Has parking and is near places to eat. Hope it works out ok We mostly cruise in prime season so hotels are at a premium and often bookdd up!
  20. Really incredible looking food..great concept and of course the amazing doors! Bon Voyage..ENJOY!
  21. We are not hoarders but after 40 yrs in our modest size house, we battle constantly against clutter.. we are not paperless, plus lots of kiddie toys b/c we watch our grands often.. Making progress...I think! Told our dtr she can store whatever she wants in our attic.. after we are gone she and her husb can clear it out!
