  1. Our daughter did the long hike.. plus winding roads on bus. It was a long day...but she said it was OK Glad we took a small boat ride from where the ship docked. It stopped at 2 resorts to pick up a few others..and then went on for us to snorkel at a beach with close up views of the Pitons. The beach and view were the stars.. snorkelling just ok..We had a.lite lunch and then our boat went directly back to our ship... St Lucia is beautiful. We.have done bus tours there too.. along windy roads. Enjoyable!
  2. Is Eclipse in that bad shape? we thoughg it was the M Class ships that were aging next.
  3. ok. I get the gen picture. We will cross Summit off our list..No guarantee that fixes in one area will be enough..as other issues may crop up. ( I do not use FB ...but get the gist of it all) We sailed Infinity one yr "way back" ...all was fine..The yr after, same ship, we had hallway leaks, mildew in bthrm, and recurring A/C problems including in our cabin.. It is concerning b/c Sihlouette, a newer S Class ship recently had a messy bthrm issue. Some E ships creak..where to go????
  4. Do you recall seeing a rowing machine? Seems lacking on E Class..but there's def enough to get by for a week ..
  5. Hmm..Guess no more bouquets at the ports! I'll bring some cheerful faux flowers..I like them on the lighted E Class niche to warm up the cold HOPPEN decor schene. Real is better but some lively color is good too And we still get the Cap Club Rose and a two stem item..in AQ. (not sure about concierge)
  6. just to clarify...we have AT & T if we set the phone to airplane mode, can we still use it onboard to take photos, send and receive e mails? What is needed in a port to do e mail and short tel call...International Plan? thanks
  7. Could it be the materials used for these ships,? Still have not seen any "official" statements,,,??? After our APEX cruise, we may stick with S Class...unless they start to come "unglued!"
  8. We feel that way about Tortola....so happy to see the recovery from their last devastating storm! Never a lack of places to enjoy.. We'll be back again next yr! We all have our fav ports! Love St Kitts too.
  9. We were allowed to bring on flowers. ..from Port Ev, Hawaii, Barbados and sunflowers from France..just not back into US.. Have rules on that changed? Wish we could still buy flowers from X. I did get a beautiful b day bouquet on ASCENT from Cap Club. ( it was a big b day cruise!)
  10. sounds nice Aside from cruises, we vacationed there yrs ago. Those tour stops are good highlights. Antigua has some of the best beaches..great island foods!
  11. not very generous! esp for 2 people... That's why we bring our own snacks and crackers!
  12. Hope the Earthquake settles down! nothing here on LI, NY Jim...Jyst an opposing view: As for driverless delivery..hope they keep that in the desert for awhile....not quite ready for having that on the roads.. esp here in NY. .Fun as a science project but not perfected!
  13. I think we are overdone with St Maarten..Been there so many times...both sides of the island..land and sea.. We do like the Greenhouse, if still there.. While Barbados is lovely..we have been there quite a few times as well and did not like the bus terminal used for tours. But we like the shops in the port area..and the flower stall if still there! We Love Antigua, great beaches, arts and crafts, and find St Lucia very natural scenic (Pitons a must) St Kitts is a favorite... The excursion to Nevis in January was an amazing day.. Can't wait to hear what you do at each of them.!
  14. yes..much weaker event , but we were in a bit of what the...? shock at the time! Next up. The Eclipse is coming!
  15. Same issue we found for our jext cruises... Few pre cruise lower prices and only at ridiculous times. I booked only 1 service and will seek lower pricing on board if available..
  16. We had no damage ..we are in center of Long Island (halfway between Manhattan and Montauk) .. way east of the NJ epicenter. Almost all of our wall art and photos need to be straightened. Local TV is showing damage closer to where it hit! And they say there were a few aftershocks. But nothing being shown looks like Taiwan. ******* So there will be pre cruise posts from Jim before sail away,?
  17. on the orig thread, I think someone said they were cleaning out shower heads..but can't exactly recall or locate the source right now.. Go with a positive attitude..No doubt ship has done all it can to be healthier! Ascent is a great ship..
  18. What we felt like was not like any flu that we've had before.....But without testing, no way to know.. We had the sr flu shot this year but no idea what its success rate is for tbis year's strains...
  19. excellent description! but our grandchildren are quite deserving!
  20. The older ships can get a face lift but the underlying systems usually stay the same..A/C, electrical, sewer. So far, we won't sail on Infinity or Connie, any more and seems now Summit.
  21. We had a great itin on ASCENT 1/28....with Tortola, St Kitts/Nevis and San Juan (stayed onboard). It was a higher fare than the alt itin but we picked it for the date..my b day. Very pleased with the itin and ASCENT...great dining other than the buffet which was overall sub par!
  22. we were AQ class on ASCENT in Jan with " all included" booking and E + minutes.... Had no issues with sending or reading e mails, or uploading photos and posting to Cruise Critic from my phone.
  23. Still following this great live from report..How cool to see you and Jim! Hope weather improves!
