  1. IDK about the thread link, but there was a big "to-do" over the new Royal Princess - similar to what we have seen for the Sun. IIRC, there was much more deep dive and digging into details than I have seen for the Sun. Still the Sun seems more revolutionary for Princess brand than the Royal Class which was more evolutionary to me.
  2. Then just text the number with regular cell text. Too bad cuz WhatsApp is terrific IMO.
  3. I just added this to my list of PCL phone numbers and it is described as "Discovery Princess" in WhatsApp. I am thinking this is actually on the ship despite the "661" Area Code (which is the Area Code for PCL HQ). IIRC, 360 is on two ships now and will be on Sun/Star no doubt, so a guest using the provided number should be sailing on Discovery I should think.
  4. There is an exception to pre-ordering something and not paying. But it is not using OBC. If a guest has a Specialty Dining (SD) credit due to a Princess booking promotion or because they booked with Premier Cruise Package, then the system (DineMyWay or DMW) should (key word) recognize the credit and not bill for a reservation. This works for many folks a lot of the time, but not all folks all of the time. If it fails, you have to get OBC refund on board or contact PCL to book you if they can.
  5. To clarify, there is no dress code - they are recommendations. But your question is what guests are actually doing/wearing because the Princess clothing recommendations have not changed in many years. What has changed are guest habits and the relative looseness of DR Mgmt in accepting smart casual all the time.
  6. Welcome to Cruise Critic and Princess Forum. To clear up some misconceptions. The internet is not free on Princess ships - nor any other mainline cruise options. The INTRAnet is free - the things you might do online via an App that relate to ship activities, schedule, reservations, checking cabin folio account, locating cabinmates or friends, or ordering an Internet plan. In order to do email, surf the web, etc, you need an INTERnet plan. Also, not all non-alcoholic drinks are free. You can get a glass of water free anywhere, anytime, but not a bottle. You have choice of juices at breakfast. Coffee and tea are served free when dining, but not from bars or International Cafe. You can get coffee or tea in the buffet when it is open. Soda is not free. Mocktails are not free. Princess is fine with walk-ups for dining in the main dining rooms (MDR, DR). If you are not sure when you want to eat, you can go that way. Some times are quite popular. It can take a bit of a wait for a private table at peak times. If you do want to get a private table at certain time or times, ask a DR host to see if they can book you in and helps if you do not care which DR they put you in. You can call Dine Line or use the App on board to book dining. PS - The Medallion replaced the key card and serves to identify you and open cabin door. It has nothing to do with using the internet.
  7. The BA parade's time has passed by but, like several other things, PCL refuses to let go. With people entering and leaving the DR's at more random times than days of yore, dimming lights are marching the waiters around doesn't make a lot of sense. Call us bumps in our seats, but we don't wave the napkins about anymore. Perhaps next cruise, I will raise a white flag in surrender.
  8. Never. If it seems necessary, we ask the waiter to step up our service as we do not want to linger.
  9. I have seen the package and it was placed in a small mailbox at our condo in FL. I have seen similar size P.O. boxes. I really don't see why it would be an issue since USPS is the carrier and not a courier service. But PCL policy may not support that. Yes, I think I have read the same, although with the new packaging and coming via USPS, it seems an outdated policy. I think the first set of Medallions I had shipped to our pre-cruise hotel in FLL (2019 at least) came via FedEx.
  10. I believe PCL has moved as much as possible into the Piazza/Atrium, so I wouldn't expect a lot of relief from noise on the CB. The OP asked about kids. @drpclarke, as others have suggested, the itinerary and dates are critical to advise you, so please give us that info. Kids are more likely on a 7-nighter as opposed to a 10-nighter if during school. If the voyage is being booked during holiday periods, well there are going to be more kids around. That said, Princess is hardly a place where one will encounter hordes of screaming urchins running about. All things equal, I would go for the newer ship.
  11. You can pay your bill and not ask for early ticketing. You cannot ask for early ticketing without at least paying for the airfare.
  12. Not sure what kid would want to go without internet. But the the separate beverage package cost is so high that may as well buy the Plus for the kid as they would likely consume beverages each day and be over $60 in no time.
  13. Cannot have two cabins under one booking number. The system is going to bill for each booking $10. Not sure if a call to PCL would allow combining for one fee.
  14. That is quite old news - the $10 fee. As for priority, Green lane should move faster, but that is also dependent on the ratio of Green vs Blue guests for each sailing. As for getting onto the ship, the Lane does not define priority - that is based on Captain Circle Member Level and cabin category (Suites get priority regardless of Member level, for example). The priority groupings matter PRIOR to the ship being open for boarding. Arriving after general boarding has begin pretty much depends on how fast you get through security and check-in (green/blue/gray).
  15. Also, problem with local TA's - meaning Ontario for folks like you and me - is that they do not discount. Certainly nothing like many US agencies.
  16. If they work for a major agency, the business thing shouldn't be much of a problem at all. Also, all monies paid go directly to PCL and not to the agency. Never deal with an agency that wants you to pay them.
  17. If you like them and like/need the service, sure. But are they giving cash discounts off the cruise fare or just selling at PCL online pricing like virtually all Canadian-based agencies?
  18. You know what I would say. Find a good US TA that is with an online agency and gives a good cash discount off the cruise fare (the commissionable portion). Should be able to find 12% or perhaps more if lucky. Ask around on a voyage or begin with looking into agencies that compete for your cruise business online and look for best price compared to PCL.
  19. New setup for each leg.
  20. As you both will know, Elites get priority disembarkation as well. We have never seen the need to queue up and stand around waiting for gangway to open. I suppose we might look for the special access if we were ever looking to beetle off the ship at 7:00am or so.
  21. We normally do not have excess luggage. If we do, I pick a time so that the luggage color tag aligns with when we expect to leave. Tip: Pick a time slightly earlier to avoid delays.
  22. The CC Member info shows where you are going to be. 14 before stepping onto ship and 16 after completing the B2B. You were at 15 after first leg, so Elite for second leg. They did right by you, but we need to adjust what CC Member area indicates because it adds up booked days and sailed days. That is misleading for what should be happening.
