  1. With WiFi package, keep phone in airplane mode when at sea, enable WiFi calling and you use the phone normally for texts and email. The basic package likely won’t have a strong enough signal to Face time but testing and emails will be just fine
  2. I read that one needs to call to have the gift cards applied, but I have an online travel agency. I have a page I can make payments with a credit card. Hal wouldn’t take a payment because I have a TA. How does that work before I spend a lot on cards?

  4. Best rooms on the ship. We have had one on several ships, multiple times. Next up is NS. We likely wouldn’t have booked had one not been available. They are that good.
  5. No. There is a small fridge at the bar in the Neptune Lounge that had some pre-mixed cocktails in cans.
  6. Drinks are definitely included in the HIA package when signed for. At least the wines. Not sure about the canned alcohols in the mini fridge.
  7. Ah, I thought it was the neptunes. Still the 4th deck is deeper I think. Nice location.
  8. The 4th deck corner balcony is HUGE. We have had it 3 times and wish we got it for next trip. Had to get 6th instead. It is deeper than other decks. absolutely a fantastic location and I’ve never had issues of vibration.
  9. If you tip extra at a bar I understood they got that tip. If you have leftover OBC at the end of a cruise you can fill out a form and have it given to staff as additional gratuity, BUT, and it’s a big one….you can only give a lump sum to the pool. You can’t say you want X to room steward and X to waiter.
  10. I’m super early as well. I order a pot at 4 am from room service. But next time I’ll take Nespresso pods onboard and make my own. The provided ones were awful.
  11. You just have to fax or email the account statement showing the shares, any type of account. 🙂You can black out account numbers and such. I have gotten responses the same day both times I submitted recently.
  12. I actually didn’t love any of them. I love trying specialty cocktails in restaurants. I never found one on HAL that I wanted to order again. I thought there would be better drinks and choices. I will enjoy seeing the replies here in hopes I find a favorite for next trip.

  18. I agree. I use my phone as normal off the ship. But I said I knew people who would not. Likely some folks don’t have phones that would even connect outside the US. Between those, the ones who refuse to pay $10, and the ones who pride themselves on disconnecting and connect to come here to tell us us about it, a ship can never reach everyone in an emergency. it really sounds like HAL did a great job in this case. I’d like to think if I heard bombs my inclination would be to get back to the ship immediately. And to call the ship…again, another reason to have an operational phone!
  19. I know folks who refuse to pay the $10 a day in port to take the phone out of airplane mode. There will probably never be a perfect way to recall everyone, unfortunately.
  20. I wrote on the bottom of the ticket any special instructions for an item in that bag. Hang to air dry green pants. Pink sweater, no dryer/dry flat. It worked !
