  1. Well, on every post we can "like," "thanks," and "laugh." Works for me.
  2. And likely the most environmentally incorrect. They usually have one calf and in a typical ranch the amount of water that's required to provide them with hay is huge.
  3. Nope. I'd grab street food if pressed for time. It's my fave food place - including my own home 🙂
  4. There are still some entries into California that check and confiscate produce from other states. I've heard that cherries in particular may be an issue. It's because CA is such a major supplier of agriculture than they don't want it contaminated.
  5. OMG, we moved away from The City over 30 years ago but still visit. Just checked and they've been around since the 60s. Hoping to get back soon. Thanks.
  6. Oh, I hear ya, and totally understand. We're long retired and have no family that needs any attention. One of our daughters and her family go "off the grid" at least a couple of times a year 🙂 And, hey, thank for that app info. That could be fun.
  7. We've traveled the last few years on Oceania and their wifi has been fine for us. I can't remember any time we've actually NEEDED to make contact. I really need to count the number of countries I"VE been to. (My husband traveled intl a lot for business.) But I've hit six continents. Just checked: I've been to Antarctica but they have no restaurants including fast food 🙂
  8. I've never cruised solo but I would highly recommend it for a first time solo traveler. You can have as much or as little interaction with others as you choose. Go for coffee - at a non busy time. The library. Sit alone at a meal. Or join others...or let them join you...if they ask politely. (I don't know you're gender but I'll say) You go, girl 🙂
  9. Yeah, squatting over holes in the ground, I've accepted. But no wifi???????? LOL.
  10. At some point in this last period of time I've commented that generally I'm a lover of change...but only if it improves things. I didn't even see the path for improvement. PS: I've been checking here once a day and was SO pleased to see this change. I hope it's permanent or at least until you come up with something better. THANKS, @LauraS
  11. We are absolutely the same re food. We've done a number of escorted land tours. When we leave the coach with the group for lunch, if they go to the right we go to the left. And then up a side street and maybe another. I google restaurants before we go and stay away from sites like Yelp except to get addresses. I miss being at home and cooking.
  12. We used to have a place in Rio and can't remember but one time going for fast food. But one day we had an appt and needed to have a quick lunch so hit KFC. What we remember is that the food was served on real plate and flatware and glasses. And they bused the table. We were pretty amazed 🙂 Scream bloody murder!!!!!!!!!! In my favorite food city in the world I would never, ever eat fast food in Barcelona. Talk about "to each their own.' LOL.
  13. Somewhat OT but in Thailand there are 5000 7-Elevens and they're owned by one person/company. Some are right across the street from another.
  14. I was trying to think of a comment. You got it...as usual.
  15. Is this the end of this cruise? If so, will you spend some time in BA?The Italian food is SO good. And of course the beef.
  16. OPs post just said "marlin." Are there different kinds? I don't know. And, hey,how would it have hurt to ask the chef about it?
  17. I don't know what kind of marlin this was but here's a little more info. Is encenada considered Mexican waters/ I think they could have made another choice just in case.
  18. I've been waiting for the right time to share this photo. It was on our Hurtigruten Norwegian coastal cruise. The oldest ship in their fleet. A real pothole. No curb between the shower and the (small) rest of the bathroom. We couldn't both stand on the floor at the same time. Ship did have stabilizers and one rough night we would slide from the top of the bunk to the bottom - laughing every time. HAD A FANTASTIC time and had another one booked before covid raised its ugly head.
  19. I don't call you a "tree hugger" at all! Why didn't you ask the chef and/or the captain about this.
  20. I wonder if their other food tastes are less 'wild and crazy.'
  21. Hmm, just found out from my spouse that we're not using the CSR for everything, mostly recurring charges, like insurance, utilities, etc. For our upcoming trip to Europe we used our United Chase Quest points, which is our carrier of choice. Sorry for the confusion. Regarding one way when I book on UA/Star Alliance it's almost always like this trip, into Amsterdam and return from Stockholm. And on their site you click on multi-city. I just was really making the point that if our plans change UA/Star Alliance refunds our points, no problem. Again, sorry for not being clear in the beginning.
  22. But only government officials call it that.
