  1. I would believe it best to book in the name that she will have on her identity documents/passport/ DL etc.
  2. or they may be too busy reading the several hundred emails 🙄
  3. Not a charge but a 'Hold'. It is mentioned in the online checkin process. $60 per day/per person.
  4. Message to user: "An Unknown Error Has Occurred. Please try again later" Message to App designers: "An Unknown Error Has Occurred Again. Please try again NOW"
  5. UPDATE: The new service from Malaga to El Chorro station (for Caminito del Rey) commenced today 20th March. Timings are not great for cruisers as it seems the best schedule would be depart Malaga 09.43h arrive El Chorro 10.33h depart El Chorro 15.12h arrive Malaga 15.52h Check timings at https://www.renfe.com/es/en
  6. Did you venture into the hotel or restaurant. The inside is really interesting.
  7. Why would you need surge protection? A regular extension lead will be sufficient. You will not find American style outlets in Europe. Hotels in Italy will have the standard Euro socket with/without side earth. Some older Italian hotels did have sockets that were specific to Italy, but most of those have now been replaced by the current Euro type socket.
  8. I have just check my account and all cruises are listed (past and future) and credits are correct. 11.05hr CET (Central European Time) so 05.05h East Coast USA and 02.05 on the west coast.
  9. Reports from onboard the ships now say that you can pay the difference between the $11 and whatever your drink costs (plus 18% grat on the difference). You can 'upgrade' your internet connection onboard. It is the same speed etc, but you can access more websites and apps than are permitted on the included 'Surf' level. When you are onboard and logon, you will be offered the option to upgrade. I have found it to be a good offer and the daily rate does not improve during the cruise.
  10. If you have concerns about not being able to see the Book of Kells because of 'people all around' then I would forget Temple Bar. Dirty, over-rated, over-priced Disneyesque version of 'ould Ireland'.
  11. I have worn jeans numerous times on HAL and in Norway. Do remember that even though it will be August, it does rain (a lot!) in Norway and wet jeans clinging to the legs is not nice 🙄also wet jeans take a long time to dry. Cargo pants with zip off legs are my current choice for excursions as they will double as shorts when required.
  12. I have never seen Club Orange advertised as "ship within a ship". Nor have I seen "skip the line" promoted. The current promotional pdf is attached and it states "Priority Access" and "Priority Line". $6000 seems like a lot of money for an upgrade from the cheapest inside stateroom to the lowest level of a verandah stateroom plus the additional Club Orange. 13. Offer me 10 hours in the laundry or kitchen or a shift at front desk and I know which one I would pick.
  14. I vaguely remember a post some years ago by @POA1 which explain how he connected a wireless router and was able to use it for two devices simultaneously. Maybe he kept the his instruction manual filed somewhere? Though at $10 to connect a second device, I don't think I would bother with the router.
  15. I think the Irishman (Noel O'Driscoll) rejoins the ship tomorrow (March 18th), I believe the master until then is Eric Barhorst, a Nederlander.
  16. That would be the European renumeration way, however if that was to ever be achieved then we need more 'Holland' and less 'America'
  17. Good day everyone and happy St Patrick's Day to you all. The posts about what is permitted during lent reminded me of a story in Cork.. During the late 1960's Ireland was still in fear of the Catholic Church and obligation led to all catholics adhering to its teachings fastidiously. Well, the Archbishop of Cork, one Cornelius (Conny) Lucey, decreed that "one meal and two collations" was all that was permitted during lent. A 'collation' would be a cup of tea and a digestive biscuit. However one enterprising bakery in Cork started producing biscuits that were about 6 inches in diameter, thus sticking to the edict but...... They became known as 'Conny Dodgers'! 🙄😁 Have a great day everyone!
  18. Absolutely agree with you. Currently we are looking at an 11 day Norwegian Fjord cruise which was last week reduced to €899 (incl fees & taxes) for a gtee verandah. I have a room on 24hours hold since 4 days ago! Today, I see that they are now offering a further $100 OBC per stateroom. How low can you go!
  19. They most certainly had them in the Lido last September.
  20. I would have thought that Front Desk staff were salaried and not in the tip pool. I really don't see them as deserving of being included when compared to laundry or kitchen staff.
  21. It will be in CAD (if you booked in CAD!) but will not show the exchange rate. You can work that out yourself. You pay it now by credit card. When you board your onboard account is credited the full amount of the gratuities in US Dollars. What you pre paid is irrelevant, it will show the full USD credit for grats on your account. If you have OBC, then that will be consumed first and if you have any credit remaining then providing it is less than the amount you paid for grats, it will be refunded. You can request this refund in cash USD, which is very useful for future trips.
