  1. This is why on our recent Apex cruise I booked the restaurants separately online. I wanted to know that I could dine at the time I liked. Cost a bit more than getting the package but I preferred it that way.
  2. Having seen Aqua cabin on Apex (we were in a CS) there is no way I would ever sail in one. Id rather not cruise. For me a proper balcony is too important. I’ve said SV with 4 MDRs & specialty dining or a suite on all E class ships. Dh agrees.
  3. Just tried it & swirl for me but not sailing till May so most likely why.
  4. We were in a CS in October. Our mini bar was stocked with our choice of soft drinks, water & beer. At no point apart from embarkation, were we offered Champagne in our suite. We’ve been in PH before & we had bar set up & champagne whenever we wanted.
  5. We ordered room service once & was told to go through the butler. I did ask her when she slept as she was always around 😊
  6. Thank you. Hopefully we will be able to just turn up then. Have always been in a suite before so never an issue. Aqua this time.
  7. Try the Byzantine icon museum if you fancy something a little different. It’s near the Hilton Hotel IIRC.
  8. Anyone know please if you need to book for lunch on embarkation day? I’m trying the app & earliest available slot is 6pm. Just wonder if we can turn up once we have boarded? It’s for May on Silhouette. Thank you
  9. I don’t disagree but it was dealt with really quickly on the telephone. But I agree it would make more sense to be able to upgrade online.
  10. Gluten free here as gluten exacerbates my rheumatoid arthritis. Eden, Luminae & Fine Cut were superb. Le Petit Chef as GF not worth it in my opinion.
  11. I’m gluten free & Luminae had no problem in adjusting menus for me. On a couple of occasions I didn’t like the options I had fillet mignon & salmon.
  12. Staysure were a nightmare for dh & I. We ended up getting travel insurance through Axa who we have health insurance with. What a mare. Mind you they have so many exclusions as well. Before dh retired we never had any issues with either travel or health insurance.
  13. Which cruise line would you all recommend for Alaska please? We usually sail Celebrity in a suite but are open to other lines including luxury ones. Thank you
  14. Thank you. Will get around trying to trying Princess at some point. Have only been on celebrity & Disney.
  15. Thank you that’s interesting. I hope you feel better
  16. We’ve used the tram when staying near Taksim. Was sad to hear about the explosion there at the weekend. My sister was there the week before staying with friends. I love the cisterns so interesting.
  17. Was coming on to say the same! If I’m honest I was a little disappointed with Olympia, probably as it was cold (October) first thing & I couldn’t concentrate. Museum was fabulous. I will go back to Olympia in warmer times! Olympia v Ephesus- Ephesus every time. And I’m Greek 😁
  18. Is that in Olden itself & do we need to prebook? That sounds right up our street so thank you. Just out of interest which is your favourite cruise line - you are an officianado!
  19. Well Pig in the Wall want full payment upfront. Dh has said to stick with HH. I’m happy with that.
  20. Do you get the same protection booking onboard as you do booking in the U.K.?
  21. This is what the Celebrity agent says to me when asked. SV usually go first followed by sky suites. He said most post cruise comments are from people saying they won’t sail in an IV again if they can avoid it. But if you want concierge or Aqua than IV is your only choice on E class.
  22. We were sat near the show kitchen on our recent Apex cruise. Eden was beyond fabulous. Loved it. Would go back on Apex just for Eden.
  23. Perfectly put. Whatever anyone says. An IV is not a balcony.
  24. I think so but at those prices I’ve started to look at the more luxury lines. But she’s a lovely ship. Make sure to go to Eden & have each of the tasting menus. Steakhouse was great also. Didn’t rate Le Petit Chef. Was in retreat in October on her. Lovely cruise. But a bit too big for me but I did love it.
  25. We have been in Nicosia in Cyprus a couple of times when it’s been 45degrees at 10.30pm! So yes you always need to be prepared. Greece is generally cooler than Cyprus to be fair. But it does occasionally get unseasonably hotter than usual.
