Still shopping for a prime lens and a flash.

In no way am I considered a pro, but loving this camera! Wanted to get into photography 30 years ago, just seemed to have more bills than paycheck. DH thinks I've lost my mind when he sees me laying in the yard trying to take a picture of ants or dandelions! :D I'm enjoying my midlife crisis!

The photo was taken with my 5DMII. Unfortunately, I have a serious case of the "L" disease.

As a child, my parents took me to an old time photographer. Each piece of film was on a separate insert that fit into the back of the camera. He had this black cloth that he'd put his head under to see the subject through the viewfinder.

Ok It's been 3 years since this posting. Though it would be interesting for an update on what camera's you have now and it's use.

Appreciate the great "re-cycling" on this thread to freshen it up. Yes, cameras keep improving and love the many more new and wonderful lens, etc., options. Here is my update:

In December 2013, upgraded to a Nikon D7100 with an 18-140mm Nikkor VR lens for our early 2014 Australia-NZ adventure. Been super happy with that camera's wonderful performance, including our recent Amazon River-Caribbean trip noted below. Love having the 18-140mm lens flexibility compared to use the 18-55mm lens. A little more weight, but it's great to have that added flexibility. Also got a Nikkor 35mm f1.8 for lower light and other such needs/specialities, including most of these food pictures.

Also for the Great Barrier Reef and other water situations, got a Nikon AW110 that works well. Still have and use lots my Nikon 55-300mm VR lenses for longer shots and a 10-20mm Sigma wide angle that is great for church and building interiors, etc.

THANKS! Enjoy! Terry in Ohio

From our Jan. 25-Feb. 20, 2015, Amazon River-Caribbean combo sailing over 26 days that started in Barbados, here is the link below to that live/blog. Lots of great visuals from this amazing Brazil river and these various Caribbean Islands (Dutch ABC's, St. Barts, Dominica, Grenada, etc.) that we experienced. Check it out at:

Zackiedawag that's some list:eek:

Well, the families first camera I remember was a Box Brownie, then in went up to a Kodak 127 which I played around with and I mean played.

Then there was a break working for HMG in various parts of the world and used anything.

My first owned camera was Nikon FE (film)

Then went on to a Nikon D60 and kit lens,

Then traded up to a Nikon D300s (with kit lens which I sold) and got a 70-300 ED VR lens

then purchased Nikon 17-50mm f/2.8 and also Nikon 35 f/1.8G

Have a P&S Samsung L313, which I've had for ages

But gutted dropped my 17-55 f/2.8 and it is cattled

I have a Nikon D3100 with kit lens. Looking to get a telephoto before our cruise.

I also photograph with my iPhone 6.

In the past I shot with a GE X5 (point & shoot). I also had a Kodak PlaySport underwater camera but it died when it went underwater. Had it fixed once then the second time I threw it away lol.
