Oh Andrew! He kept telling her as she escorted us to our seat that they were not flip flops...they are sandals. SMH!

You can sort of see in my face how I am looking a little peak-ed

And what do you order when your tummy is doing flip flops bigger than Andrew's "sandals" (ahem)?? Why frog legs of course!

This was dumb idea for me #1. I should have gone with lighter fare. Oh wait...there are crab cakes on the menu! Sure, let's order something really rich. That should help too.

He got the grilled portabello mushroom with meclun lettuce

Oh, sure! Let's get prime rib while we are at it

We stopped off at the cabin for me to change clothes. Tonights turn down was the heart.

We finished packing all of our stuff because we knew we would be doing self assist with COJO and husband. Therefore there was no luggage to set outside the door and we condensed everything down to as few bags as possible for ease of exit.

I put a room service order on the door since we wouldnt be going to the MDR for breakfast and headed back to LIDO!

At this point I was feeling not at all spectacular. Just a little bit of advice for you. If you arent feeling 100%...dont order really rich food. Get something light. I really wanted to eat in the MDR that last night, but should have listened to what my body was saying to me. Soup would have been a better idea. Also remember that being outside in the fresh air helps a tremendous amount.

Bad idea #2...leaving the fresh air....We heard that Music Degree was playing at Cat's Lounge so we went to watch them play a bit. I like them in this venue MUCH better than in the promenade in front of 21st Century bar.

We sat here so I could be close to the door

Music Degree

I thought maybe ordering a drink would help. I was getting pretty miffed that I couldnt do my normal "last night of the cruise" activities because of feeling queasy. And I realized then, I let it get into my head. Once you let it get to your head, you might as well hang it up.

Bad idea #3....I ordered a Mocha Chocolate Getaway. What was I thinking. About halfway through it, I went up to LIDO and walked around the deck, talking to myself like a fighter before a fight. "you got this! Stop acting like this you PANSY! You dont get seasick. You are just fine! Stop this foolishness!". And then, I gave up. I am not going to make the folks around me miserable because I am miserable. I gave the Andrew a smooch and bid my farewells to all and went back to my cabin.

I got in the shower and started to feel better and then laid down on the bed with the tv on and fell asleep for awhile. When I woke up I noticed that there was no Andrew in the cabin and feeling better, I went to search for him. He was not on lido. Uh oh. It was 2:30am, where could he be? So I looked down in the atrium and he was standing at Guest Services. Oh boy. What is going on here?

I approach and it appears he is cashing out our Sail and Sign account. I had never heard of anyone doing this before but he was able to close our cards and got back the cash that we still had left on our accounts which totalled about $80.00. Yes, we came home with money!!!!

We made it back to our cabin and fell asleep for the remainder of the night.

DEBARKATION:

We awoke to the sound of thrusters. We are back in Charleston and our vacation is over. We gathered the last of our things together and did the final check under the bed, all the drawers and the closet.

Then room service came with our bagels, lox and cream cheese and coffee.

973_zps0472a08f.jpg

And then COJO's husband came to take one of our bags up to his room to get things rolling as soon as we could start self assist.

We had a few bites of bagel and then it was time to go. We all met in the area next to the atrium and we made our way to be DINGED for the last time and then down the gangplank and into the terminal. This went unbelievably fast! Almost too fast. We went through Customs with the usual questions, reconnected outside with COJO and husband, loaded our luggage into the covered trailer they pull behind the shuttle and boarded the shuttle.

974_zpsf9bec5b6.jpg

The shuttle dropped us off at the parking warehouse and we loaded up the truck and were back home in Hollywood by 8:30am.

And there ya have it! Our Fantastical Journey! We had a great time and cannot wait to sail again...of course.

My intention over the next few days is to touch on some things that I have seen frequently come up as points of discussion on the boards and give my impression. Knowing that all opinions of cruising are subjective and wont mean a hill of beans unless you have a personality like mine. At least you will get an idea of my observations.

If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to ask away. I am on Cruise Critic even when I dont have a cruise planned...because I am obsessed. I cant help it. And I created a monster with fromthebus.

HAPPY NEW YEAR READERS!!!!!!

Thank you for your review! I love your point of view on things! My hubby and I are a lot like you and the Andrew. We have been talking about a cruise on the Fantasy, but I've been pushing him to think about another ship since both of our cruises so far have been on that class of ship. We are on the Legend at the end of January so maybe that will give me my fix and we can give the Fantasy a try after that. I hope we get to sail with you at some point because you guys seem so fun to be around!

I loved the review, Nancy! You did such a fantastical job! (:

It was great to relive the cruise! With this cold and snowy weather we've been having at home it makes me wish I was cruising again! I think cruising at Christmas time needs to become a tradition!

Thanks for the AWESOME :D review!!! Looks like ya'll had a BLAST!!! :)

I love this ship! We sailed the Fantasy twice so far, from our experiences the staff has been the best of any of our cruises!!! We are looking into sailing her again in October/November with the same ports you sailed.

We went on the Dream in October, Funship Freddy must have been in hiding as we never saw him, was Freddy hiding on the Fantasy also?

Enjoyed seeing the photos and reading your review. Can you tell me more about Music Degree? Where do they play, what kind of music and how often? I am sailing on Fantasy this week (1/4/13) and am sailing with 23 people. Mostly young adults ;)

Great review ~ hope to run into you and The Andrew on a ship someday!

And totally off topic (well maybe only semi!) ~ I loved your hair in Nassau - so cute yet practical - as I'm utterly incompetent when it comes to cute hair styles - how'd you do it?! :)

We cant wait to sail again! We just love meeting all the new people and just breathing in the sea air. We are really laid back folks that enjoy every moment as it comes and sometimes we are lucky enough to hop on a ship and sailaway!

We have only been on one other ship in Carnival's line up and that was Triumph in 2007. I really want to try a cove balcony on the Dream. Maybe that will be our next adventure. It's just so easy to sail out of our hometown though.

We had a total blast! Cruising is our JAM!!!

We have sailed Fantasy 4 times now. It's just so darn convenient!

We saw Freddy a couple of times but he really creeps me out now for some reason. I took this picture right around the corner on the way to LIDO on embark day.

CREEPY!

Music Degree is mainly a cover band. They can replicate the voices of anyone they are covering. They do an amazing job at covering Pink Floyd and the Doors. They also do Lynard Skynard as well. Get them to play Freebird! Not kidding.

We saw young and old quite enjoying the music. Make sure to take an evening to go see them play. You will not be disappointed.

Happy new years to you guys too!!:D

Thanks for the fantastical review. As usual it was AWESOME!!!! :D:D

Thanks for reading! Our New Years celebrations started EARLY!!!

Thanks that was a great review. I'm glad you shared with us.

I was a bit worried about writing a 7 day review and hoped I would be able to keep everyone's attention. Sometimes I am all over the place when I write. Glad you enjoyed. :D

And totally off topic (well maybe only semi!) ~ I loved your hair in Nassau - so cute yet practical - as I'm utterly incompetent when it comes to cute hair styles - how'd you do it?! :)

Willow, my hair is unruly and needs to be man-handled on a regular basis. That morning I pretty much parted it down the middle (sort of) grabbed some hair from next to the ear and then just pulled up and twisted it and then pinned it up with a barette and repeated on the opposite side.

My hair is really thick and fuzzy (aka frizzy) so forcing it into submission takes some slight creativity.

Right now, I sit here writing in a pony tail. :p

If you are ever lucky enough to sail with ToriB and you ask nicely, she may braid your hair for you. I like to think I am special and she did it just because she loves me though. :D

LOL and I sit here typing with my hair tied in a knot on top of my head - that's my idea of high fashion! Thanks for the tip, and I hope now to cruise with both you and ToriB (and hope she really likes me at least!)

BTW - feeding the sea rats can be FUN!!! 2681_1131418561066_832935_n.jpg
