Don't know if that's Shogun, but there does appear to be a high percentage of tuxes on formal night on the maiden cruise. Wonder if that will be the norm for the following Med cruises or the TA?

 

Those stairs are pretty crowded:D

 

Not sure if the tux is coming along for the TA, not sure it fits anymore, interested to see if the Med cruises are as formal.

I have another question. Just saw a picture of the carpet in the cabin hallways.

There's no more Red or Blue "stripe" on the carpet to let you know Port or Starboard side? That was handy when you came off the elevator (lift) - instead of looking at the sign you just had to look at the carpet and know which side you need to go to.

Glad you are enjoying the cruise..what a true spirit to take time out to answer so many enquiries..I met a couple from Scotland on a aribbean cruise a few years passed, Trudy and Brian, wonderful folks..they came to San Francisco, stayed with us a few days and we sailed to Alalska out of Seattle with them..Brian wore his kilt..another proud man~

 

I have reviewed every page of this thread and either I missed it or it has not been answered..regarding the solid space between aft deuxe balconys..what is it? you can see on balconys above Dolphin and Emerald decks seem to make an extended balcony for the center most cabin..but I can't get an angle on the these two decks to see if its solid or not.

 

I read this article somewhere about the stairs and found it to be true..I thought back and imagined myself going down 32 Princess cruises worth of stairs ( I always use the stairs) and I seem to be facing aft. I also think it doesnt matter where you are on the ship..the stairways always face the same way..aft. Now I'm speaking of the main center stairways..there may be side exits that will not conform to this. Also, think of all the stairways on both sides of the pool areas..always face aft as well. IMHO this theory seems true.

Stair width is reduced considerably causing folks to walk up/down using the one hand rail that is available.

What is Princess' definition of "adult" as it pertains to The Sanctuary and Retreat Pool areas? 17? 18? 21? I assume that since the "Youth" activities are for passengers 17 and under that an 18 year old would not be relegated to the kiddie pool and could hang with his/her parents in the Adult areas. Any idea?

 

18 and over is considered an adult for these purposes.

They do, but the landing is always between decks so when there are stairs, it is correct, they do face aft.

This really is a wonderful photo. However, I wonder how long it will be before someone is overheard telling off another someone to "get off my ledge". In the photo, the lady is resting upon one of the few places surrounding the pool which are available to sit. Unfortunately, I have come across quite a few people on cruises who would expect that the ledges surrounding the cabanas "belong" to each cabana. It looks like there can be potential conflicts since these ledges are the only place directly around the pool to rest -- yet, they encroach upon the "exclusive" area of the cabanas. Maybe I am jaded, but I have lived too long in New York to not expect that some lively discussions will take place over who the ledges belong to in these areas...

 

As another jaded New Yorker I can see the claws coming out. As a matter of fact It will probably an argument between someone from Brooklyn and someone from the Bronx.

Me too! I just don't think it's safe. Then, add sales tables on Decks 6 and 7 (which I hope they won't do on the Royal), and it gets very crowded.

 

However, I was very glad to see that the stairs themselves are not glass. The HAL Noordam has glass stairs in its atrium, and DH wouldn't even let me walk down them (I have flat vision). They were a true caution.

Hi All

Malaga today started off in nice sunshine then by late afternoon a sea mist started to roll in, this turned to the thickest fog you can think off, the large container ship opposite just disappeared along with the dock and the massive loading cranes,

As we sailed away the fog horn every few minutes, looking out to sea nothing then a reply, still could see nothing then for a few seconds a large cargo vessel heading into port, then gone again into the fog, On the bridge wing the look out scanning the sea, then the fog horn again, there is something spooky about a ships fog horn,

Tonight captains circle party OK cruise is almost over and I prefer them at the start, do not see the need to wait for a formal night, but that’s just my view,

Diner is lobster night, so will report back on it for you good folks

Casino is staying open all night for our convenience, come the small hours of the morning I will be safe tucked up in bed, if DW is still winning then she will be aloud to play so long as the shops are closed, shops are bigger here on the Royal, but for some odd reason the range is either the same or slightly less, they just have more display space.

Its now Time to get undressed to get the kilt on, chat more when I can,

Hi All

 

Quick post last night,

 

ship a bit hot in places tonight casino to hot to stat in,

 

half casino is smoke free at all times where the stairs are, while other side allows smoking

 

club 6 has doors at both ends and is a nice quite place to go during the day,

 

cigar place next to it,

 

no problem with smoke in shops,

 

casino very busy at all times and its a big casino

 

new shows getting good comments on ship

 

not many minutes left so chat when home,

One thing we had on the Sapphire that we couldn't find on the Royal - the display of the evening menu outside the Anytime dining room. It helps us decide where to eat that evening as my other half is such a fussy eater. We looked on both sides of the entrance to the Concerto dining room and went away wondering - is it just a Sapphire thing?

 

When I looked for this on the preview cruise I found that they had left a loose copy of the menu out on the desk at the entrance to the symphony dining room. It was tucked under some other stuff.

 

It may be that they are still waiting for the display cases to be fitted - the future cruise lady was still waiting for her 'drop box' which she had been told was coming soon.

On the Star's mid ship stairs you face forward as you exit the stairs on each deck. Assume it is the same on the Golden. The forward and aft stairs face aft as you exit them.

We were just on the carnival Legend and the adult only pool was for 21 and over and it was on the sign under serenity.

My DD is 18 and her friend 17, they went to see if they could both go to the teen area, Nope 18 year not allowed. Not allowed at adult pool till 21 and they carded her going into the nightclub where you had to be 18, didn't card her friend as she is taller:D

Not sure if Princess follows the same age limits.

Unless it has changed recently, 18 was the age on Princess cruises to be allowed to use the adult pool.

 

We traveled with friends and their daughter was allowed in with us.

 

The disco on Princess is 18 and older after 10 PM.
