TheDivineMrsM Posted July 28, 2014 #1 Share Posted July 28, 2014 Should the three of us each keep our key card on a lanyard? Or how about one of those wrist band type lanyard? What works best?
Amerryscot Posted July 28, 2014 #2 Share Posted July 28, 2014 I kept mine in my handbag.
ludomonster Posted July 28, 2014 #3 Share Posted July 28, 2014 Absolutely not. I wear one at work and that is enough. Just put it in your purse or pocket.
alfaeric Posted July 28, 2014 #4 Share Posted July 28, 2014 If you like them, yes. We wear them. And every cruise someone asks were we get them. Others hate them. it's a very personal thing.
cb at sea Posted July 28, 2014 #5 Share Posted July 28, 2014 (edited) Small purse for me...pocket for hubby. Unless you want to look like you're at a convention, don't use lanyards! What do you do with a hotel key? Do the same thing! Edited July 28, 2014 by cb at sea
leaveitallbehind Posted July 28, 2014 #6 Share Posted July 28, 2014 (edited) Never use a lanyard - always just keep it in my pocket. Same with my wife and if she doesn't have a convenient pocket I hang on to hers as well when we're together. CruiseFanatic123 Posted July 28, 2014 #7 Share Posted July 28, 2014 I just kept mine in my small purse or in my pocket.
AmberCascades Posted July 28, 2014 #8 Share Posted July 28, 2014 I keep mine in my pocket since I like the freedom of not lugging a bag or anything. We saw quite a few people wearing lanyards. No one was pointing or laughing at them. Do what works best for you. If I didn't have pockets I'd probably use a lanyard since I don't want to carry even the tiniest purse around on the ship. MSN-Travelers Posted July 28, 2014 #12 Share Posted July 28, 2014 As a percentage of the passengers aboard the ship, very few use them. Those that do use them seem to love them. We never saw the need to have one hanging around my neck and a wrist strap will just get old real quick. It travels in my pocket or my book aboard ship or in a small fanny pack on my waist when ashore.
denmarks Posted July 28, 2014 #13 Share Posted July 28, 2014 I hate them. It makes the cruise look like a convention. One warning: do not put your card in the same pocket as your phone or sometimes even a camera. It will erase the magnetic stripe.
JBM Posted July 28, 2014 #14 Share Posted July 28, 2014 Only recently, have I started wearing a lanyard. Needless to say husband wouldn't be caught dead with one on! I love it, it's very practical for me. I don't carry a purse on board because all you need is your cabin card. Some of my shorts do not have pockets and the lanyard works perfectly. Laurie S. Posted July 28, 2014 #15 Share Posted July 28, 2014 I use a lanyard when we go off the ship so I can quickly find our cards in my backpack when we're getting back on the ship. I put both the cards on one lanyard. Onboard, I put it in my pocket or in my purse.
calliopecruiser Posted July 28, 2014 #16 Share Posted July 28, 2014 Since I don't carry a purse or bag on board and often don't have pockets, I clip my card to a bracelet. I have them punch a hole in the card, then use a small jewelery finding to attach it to one of several beaded bracelets I have.
dsrdsrdsr Posted July 28, 2014 #17 Share Posted July 28, 2014 What works for me is a pocket. If you have a card you always carry eg. a credit card, carry your cruise card the same way. If not, there are no expensive options so feel free to try them all. A lanyard under your shirt is an option if you feel self-conscious.
sail7seas Posted July 29, 2014 #18 Share Posted July 29, 2014 I never use a lanyard. I am never without a small purse and keep my card in my wristlet or small cross body purse.
OCruisers Posted July 29, 2014 #19 Share Posted July 29, 2014 We find they get in our way and don't care to have them having around our necks so NEVER use them. LuLu
dancinman66 Posted July 29, 2014 #20 Share Posted July 29, 2014 I just use pockets for card now rather than lanyard It is totally a personal choice Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Calgon1 Posted July 29, 2014 #21 Share Posted July 29, 2014 I use a lanyard. Not around the neck (like at work). But rather looped around my belt, with the card in my pocket. Very easy to reach, but hard to loose . . . :)
Rare Scrapnana Posted July 29, 2014 #22 Share Posted July 29, 2014 I didn't like lanyards when I was working and don't want to wear one now I'm retired. I carry a camera with me every time I leave my cabin (never know what interesting sights I might see) so I carry a small purse. I tuck my key card into a side pocket. Rare BlueRiband Posted July 29, 2014 #23 Share Posted July 29, 2014 (edited) Never wore one on a ship and never will. Pockets are very convenient. Edited July 29, 2014 by BlueRiband
Krazy Kruizers Posted July 29, 2014 #24 Share Posted July 29, 2014 I don't like things hanging around my neck for hours at a time. I either put my ID card in a tiny purse I use on shore or in my bermudas pocket when on the ship.

Yes, for outfits with no pockets, I'm thinking of getting a wrist lanyard. I hate carry a handbag if I don't have to, even a small one. I must have a bouncy sort of walk, since the neck lanyards bounce from one side of my body to the other when I walk, and drive me mad. And when I go out into the wind, the card flies up and smacks me in the face! :( So a wrist lanyard is the next attempt.
