EightFurryPaws Posted January 20, 2015 #1 Share Posted January 20, 2015 Just wanted to see if this has happened to any other cruisers. We were on the Golden to South America from 3/1/14--4/1/14. Our cabin steward was Conrad. We were on the Coral from Whittier to FLL from 9/6/14--10/11/14. Our cabin steward was the same Conrad! I just couldn't get over it, thinking of all the ships, cruises, and cabin stewards, we had the same one in the same year. He was a good one, too. Faster than the speed of lightening. Thrak Posted January 20, 2015 #2 Share Posted January 20, 2015 The longer and more often you cruise the better your chance of having this happen. People who cruise often definitely have their favorite crew members whom they see over and over.
Rare geoherb Posted January 20, 2015 #3 Share Posted January 20, 2015 We had the same cabin steward on the 4-day leg of our recent cruises on the Caribbean that we had on a cruise in August on the same ship. Once we had an assistant waiter from the Star Princess on the last night of a cruise four months later on the Grand Princess. He was filling in for the assistant waiter we had had the previous six nights when she got sick the last night of that cruise. And even less fortuitously for us, we had the same CD on the Ruby Princess for three cruises. He was scheduled to have been gone by the week we took the third cruise (three months after the first two). And then he ended up on the Caribbean Princess three months later. Times Prince Posted January 20, 2015 #4 Share Posted January 20, 2015 We saw one of our stewards from an older ship onboard Emerald Princess. He recognized us and also thanked us for our commendation from the previous cruise - apparently it helped in his contract renewal and posting to a newer ship. It was good to hear about it and learn that We Make a Difference when filling out the You Made a Difference cards (and more recently the post cruise surveys). More often we've seen dining room wait staff from cruise to cruise and ship to ship. It is amazing they recognize us after seeing all those other passengers in between. rockdoctor Posted January 20, 2015 #8 Share Posted January 20, 2015 We have seen our favorite sommelier on more than one ship. It was quite a pleasant surprise.
Liz54 Posted January 20, 2015 #9 Share Posted January 20, 2015 We had a really nice young waiter one year and we commented (On a You Made a Difference card) on how great he was but a bit shy and reticent. A year later he was on a different ship serving in the Crown Grill - but completely out of his shell laughing and charming everyone. It was so fun to see him! And to see he was doing so well!:)

CruisinChris Posted January 20, 2015 #12 Share Posted January 20, 2015 Like you, I've had the same Room Steward on multiple cruises - different ships. Have also met many crew and staff members multiple times. Keep in touch with several.
Cruisin' Chick Posted January 20, 2015 #13 Share Posted January 20, 2015 On a Carnival cruise we went on, our waiter had been on hubby's waitstaff for his first cruise nine years before. On our second Princess cruise, the waiter had been our assistant waiter on our previous cruise (different ships, Star and Sapphire) about a year and a half before. She even remembered some of our preferences.
debkaysmith Posted January 20, 2015 #14 Share Posted January 20, 2015 We had a bit of family squabbles December, 2006 on our cruise (from Hell) aboard the Grand Princess. Our waiter, Constantine, helped out in innumerable ways to keep the peace. In 2008 my daughter and I met him in the MDR aboard the Caribbean Princess as the assistant maitre'd - a promotion for him and still that fabulous smile and attention to service. Hope we see him again some day!
skf Posted January 20, 2015 #15 Share Posted January 20, 2015 We were in Coral a couple of years ago, and had a Waiter, Bernardo, we liked. Sailed in Royal this spring & he came over to say hi. Turns out he had some foul-up on his visa & couldn't get to Coral, his favorite, and had to take Royal instead.
RRFPresident Posted January 20, 2015 #16 Share Posted January 20, 2015 We've sailed on the Caribbean Princess twice and enjoyed the great service in the Crown Grill from this one waiter on our British Isles cruise. He had only been with Princess for a short while. Fast forward to our Med cruise this past summer on the Regal and who ends up waiting on us in the Crown Grill but that same waiter! He was as shocked as we were when I mentioned the coincidence.
land lover Posted January 21, 2015 #17 Share Posted January 21, 2015 (edited) I think the odds are very small to have the same room stewart.... We have had 2 photographers remember us...when we met the cruises were half way around the world...and when they saw us again the cruises were leaving from US ports. I don't remember anyone... Rare cruisequeen4ever Posted January 21, 2015 #18 Share Posted January 21, 2015 It's so fun seeing crew from past cruises! Our assistant waiter/waitress last summer was on a cruise we took in 2012. We've sailed with Vicky from the cruise staff 3 times, and now recognize her voice from videos, we've heard it so often. Another cruise staff member we've had on 2 cruises. We had the same head waiter on 2 cruises aboard the same ship 6 months apart. He recognized us right away and took great care of us yet again! skf Posted January 23, 2015 #19 Share Posted January 23, 2015 We had our favorite Future Cruise Consultant, Terri Bettany three times. She was always ready with a hug & a kiss. The third time we went onboard Crown & she had just arrived on another ship & got a surprise transfer.
Rare Host CJSKIDS Posted January 23, 2015 #20 Share Posted January 23, 2015 We have seen some of the same crew on different ships. Just saw a bartender that was on our January 2014 Ruby sailing on our November 2014 Regal sailing and he recognized us. Not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing! I have never had the same cabin steward though.
