cruiseat50 Posted July 1, 2015 #1 Share Posted July 1, 2015 I see that thee are countdown clocks for going to Bermuda on the Breakaway in a year. Maybe someone will be an anonymous donor? I wish... but it's a little disconcerting and will have to contact the CC to find out what happened. I don't know if I should delete it before I contact them? Should I disable my account?

don't-use-real-name Posted July 1, 2015 #3 Share Posted July 1, 2015 Others with more wisdom - but I would leave everything exactly where it is at ! Contact NCL ASAP and get their sleuths at work. Credit Cards on file - call and put a freeze on any NCL activity ! On an odd chance you have a birthday anniversary or other date of importance coming up - maybe someone close to you is trying to surprise you with a gift of travel using what other than your own money credit and account with the idea of paying your account after the booking - but your credentials make the booking so much easier with less paperwork hassle ?!? Who would do something like that - well there are stranger tales than this. In spite of a surprise - check it out ASAP - better a spoiled surprise than a surprise being foisted over on your own personal credit history ! I don't think I need to contact NCL as that isn't the problem (believe me... no one I know has the money/or inclination to pay for a cruise for me). That was just a joke.;) The only thing that is affected is my Cruise Critic signature with the added cruise countdown clock.
Rare mitsugirly Posted July 1, 2015 #6 Share Posted July 1, 2015 I wish cruises would magically appear on my countdown...it would be like a sign for me. :D But really...that's strange.
don't-use-real-name Posted July 1, 2015 #7 Share Posted July 1, 2015 A TA doing some work behind the scenes ? How else does someone access the Profile page to install the SAILING ON XXX SHIP in days hours minutes and seconds. From a roll call ??? -OR- is there an affinity group that you have given carte blanch to for this purpose - like AAA motor club - all members with 1954 Chev Bel Airs. Interested as to how this is happening - perhaps a computer gremlin saying you need a vacation so bad you don't know it yet !

garycarla Posted July 1, 2015 #11 Share Posted July 1, 2015 1 - The OP mentioned countdown clocks. 2 - This is about CruiseCritic - not credit cards. 3 - NCL has NOTHING to do with this. 4 - TA has nothing to do with this. There is NO REASON to disable your cruise critic account. What would anyone do if they did hack in? Has ANYTHING ELSE happened on this account? (betting not) Changing your password would be more than enough. Sorry, but there was either a hickup when you did your countdown clock, or user error. Nobody is going to hack into your CruiseCritic account so they can add countdown clocks. (other than family or friend maybe)

cb at sea Posted July 1, 2015 #13 Share Posted July 1, 2015 Is there financial info on Cruise Critic? I don't think so! Aside from my home state/town, there is nothing anyone could do with my info....is there???
MagnoliaBlossom Posted July 1, 2015 #14 Share Posted July 1, 2015 Well, the hiccups must be going around. Last week I had a photo of strangers and an avatar in my signature.
Mistizoom Posted July 1, 2015 #15 Share Posted July 1, 2015 I had an old ticker disappear a couple months ago for no known reason. Never thought to worry about it. But for the OP changing your password should be sufficient protection.
craig-n-carol Posted July 1, 2015 #16 Share Posted July 1, 2015 Sounds like CC is having a database and web site programming issue. They are probably someone else's countdown clock that a site error caused to show on your page. Can you go to your User CP, and edit signature and remove it? If not, I would contact CC support and have them take a look.
slaine29 Posted July 1, 2015 #17 Share Posted July 1, 2015 You could always book the same cruise, then you would not have to hassle setting up the countdown as its already there :)
cruiseat50 Posted July 1, 2015 Author #18 Share Posted July 1, 2015 Thanks all for the replies and it was good to know that others have had similar experiences. I am by no means a computer geek so I wasn't sure if it was something that I should be worried about. I know there is no financial info. tied to this site but wasn't sure if that could lead to other problems.:( So... thanks again and calm seas to all.:D

Next year will be a 35th anniversary for us and we are hoping to make it to Tahiti to check off our bucket list. This will be the first land vacation in quite a while but luckily it is near water/beaches/total relaxation. :D

ColinIllinois Posted July 2, 2015 #23 Share Posted July 2, 2015 It's always a good idea to change ALL your passwords on a regular basis whether you think you need to or not. Use a good combination of letters, numbers and special characters. Internet Security 101. :D
