Andy Posted October 21, 2015 #1 Share Posted October 21, 2015 (edited) Hi Everyone, Just returned home from 10 days on Royal Princess. We had a very nice cruise. I plan to write a review, but, I'm currently deciding on whether it should be strictly a Princess review, or a comparison to Celebrity - so I need your help. Please let me know which format you prefer. Also, if you have any questions, I'd be happy to answer. The internet was extremely slow, and I didn't have many complimentary minutes, so it was costly to stay connected with work, and keeping an eye out for alerts. I'm glad to be back - Missed being a part of our wonderful forum. Looking forward to your questions, and review feedback. Thanks very much ! CanadianDee Posted October 21, 2015 #2 Share Posted October 21, 2015 I'd love a comparison review. We've cruises Princess multiple times, but are preparing for our first Celebrity cruise. :)
FlorenceItaly Posted October 21, 2015 #3 Share Posted October 21, 2015 (edited) I would like a comparison review. I have cruised both in the last seven months. Thank you! Edited October 21, 2015 by FlorenceItaly
elena7seas Posted October 21, 2015 #4 Share Posted October 21, 2015 Welcome back, Andy!! Very glad to hear you had a nice cruise. I also would be interested in a comparative review. I find they are especially valuable to me when they come from someone whose perspective on Celebrity I am both familiar with, and respect. Thank for taking the time. It is most appreciated!! Jane2357 Posted October 21, 2015 #5 Share Posted October 21, 2015 I too vote for a comparative review - I've never been on Princess but have considered it.
excitedofharpenden Posted October 21, 2015 #6 Share Posted October 21, 2015 Hi Andy. Welcome home. A comparison review would be good. Have you be suitably Perryfied whilst you've been away?;) Phil

A Sixth? Posted October 21, 2015 #8 Share Posted October 21, 2015 I wrote a bit about a B2B I did jumping from the Summit to the second week on the Caribbean Princess years ago.. I'd love to hear how things are these days...

Rare chemmo Posted October 21, 2015 #11 Share Posted October 21, 2015 ...if we are honest we have not compared Celebrity with another cruise line for a few years. We would seriously value your comparisons. Hope you had a really good vacation, good to have you back!
upwarduk Posted October 21, 2015 #12 Share Posted October 21, 2015 I too vote for a comparative review - I've never been on Princess but have considered it. Me too- never been on Princess, although I know people who sail Princess, but they have never been on Celebrity.
Rare MicCanberra Posted October 21, 2015 #13 Share Posted October 21, 2015 Welcome back. A comparison review would be great as many people often ask me about differences and having another review out there would be of benefit.:D
KikisDad Posted October 21, 2015 #14 Share Posted October 21, 2015 (edited) Welcome back Andy. We sail on both every year, but the west coast Princess ships are the older Grand ships. I would be interested to read a comparison between S class and the Royal. Edited October 21, 2015 by KikisDad spelling
maggie.1008 Posted October 21, 2015 #15 Share Posted October 21, 2015 Hi Andy, we cruise on Princess a few times a year for their California Departures. X is always our first choice and I would like to see you compare the two.
Rare hcat Posted October 21, 2015 #16 Share Posted October 21, 2015 (edited) Welcome back Andy we'd also appreciate a comparison...we are booked on Ruby for a Coastal cruise....but general comparison of the two lines would be a big help! mjmagee Posted October 21, 2015 #17 Share Posted October 21, 2015 Comparison review please! Where will we find it? On the Celebrity board or on the Princess board? Marilyn
Rare keesar Posted October 21, 2015 #18 Share Posted October 21, 2015 I am sure there are crowds out there looking for a comparison of Perry G. :)
Antonintassie Posted October 21, 2015 #19 Share Posted October 21, 2015 We are cruise newbies and have done the Royal Princess and Celebrity Eclipse both in suites. Celebrity was better overall we thought ,although food and beverage service was more consistent on Princess. Still convinced either is a match for us so we are trying Azamara next. floridatravelersforlife Posted October 21, 2015 #20 Share Posted October 21, 2015 We did the Royal Princess a year ago. I would be interested in a comparison to the Solstice class which is comparable to size and age. I wont offer my opinion until you post your comparison. tangerinebunny Posted October 21, 2015 #21 Share Posted October 21, 2015 I'd like to hear about the food, service, on board activities, and beds (are they more or less comfortable than X?). And what were your fellow cruisers like, i.e., on board ambience. Thanks for offering. Now get that laundry done and write....
CHEZMARYLOU Posted October 21, 2015 #22 Share Posted October 21, 2015 My BIL is a confirmed Princess Cruiser. We are confirmed with Celebrity. Would like to see a comparison.
C 2 C Posted October 21, 2015 #23 Share Posted October 21, 2015 Hi Andy. Welcome back. I too would like to see a comparison. Watching live entertainment options deteriorate from our perspective, we would really like an honest opinion from a Celebrity stalwart. I really miss the gang with whom we sailed so often because we had similar tastes. Modern luxury does not necessarily appeal to everyone.

Oxo Posted October 21, 2015 #25 Share Posted October 21, 2015 The internet was extremely slow, and I didn't have many complimentary minutes, so it was costly to stay connected with work, and keeping an eye out for alerts.! I believe this is a complaint regardless of the cruise line. Here is a comparison of the number of minutes provided by: Princess 6th cruise or 51 days and above - Internet Minutes (Free) VOYAGE MINUTES 7 days or less 150 8-20 days 250 21+ days 500 Celebrity Free Minutes (Complimentary) Elite - 90-minute Internet package Elite+ - 200-minute Internet package Zenith - 1600-minute Internet package Celebrity gives out more minutes if you are Zenith. Long way to go to make that level.
