Diamond Plus Loss of Benefits

How did I miss this thread

Why do so many want to get to Suite lounge without booking a Suite. I don't get it. I personally like the less people and faster service. The more people, the slower the service. I just don't get it....

I thought they were going to a DL (we are D's too but have never gone to either lounge yet) ....

I'm sure that your finding this thread will breathe new life into it.

As for the suite lounge, I have no interest in being in it either with or without booking a suite so don't worry about any crowding from my family.

I certainly am glad you missed me.

I just find lots of humor that people are so worked up with Status and what benefits or perks it gives them and by rule, are always subject to change at anytime. The more D, D+, and P's that gain status, means lots of numbers. When it becomes too much to handle, RCCL should and will make changes.

Seems they feel they are ordained for life with these perks... while they can be adjusted at anytime... we cruise to have fun. We do... I spend my spare time in the Casino, not a lounge... I like a drink or two but hanging in a lounge has not always been our big thing.....

............why do some get so worked up?......look around you on your next cruise........most men live " lives of quiet desperation" and the "status" is a focus of their other wise miserable life.........who in their right mind balances their whole vacation choice on where they will sit when they are about to leave the ship?............

Hubby and I cruised frequently in GS and OS when we found out about the double points. Now that we're D plus we just book JS now. It doesn't make sense to book a GS or above for a suite party or the gold card pool access since we're not sun worshiper's. The JS is perfect for us. Hubby gets a big balcony and I get more room to store all my outfits and shoes. It's a win-win.

I think we will also try the JS after we make diamond plus, great closet and many aft views. wish more ships had aft for GS

So you spent money on suites just to get extra points in a program than could end tomorrow? And by the way, you would have received the same number of points, and saved yourself a lot of money, for booking the junior suites in the first place which seem to be your preferred category anyway.

This sounds like a win-win all right....for RCI.

My husband doesn't get to vacation as much as I do and he doesn't mind springing for a GS or OS. We always booked a GS or above so we could hang out with our Diamond Plus and Pinnacle friends who like to use the CL. For some reason, our friends don't like to hang out in the DL due to the crowding. Now, that we get most of the benefits of a full suite with the Dplus perks, there is really no reason to spend a few thousand more dollars for a suite party. However, when we see a good deal on a GS or above, we do splurge and get one because we can. on my upcoming jewel cruise, we're in an OS.

Of course, at some point, ships will have a suite lounge and a diamond lounge (no concierge lounge) so you may be back to suites. It is likely D+ will use the DL and Pinnacles will use either.

Exactly. Like I said, if we can afford it and the price is reasonable, we have no problem purchasing a GS or OS. If the price is out of our range, we go with the JS. Thankfully, most of our cruising friends are Dplus. So, if were in a larger ship and there is no CL we will all suck it up and use the D lounge or just go to another bar and use our 3 drinks voucher.

I don't understand why some mock and ridicule those expressing disappointment, or venting, that their benefits have been reduced. Obviously nothing is guaranteed forever. I think everyone understands that. But that doesn't mean people aren't allowed to voice displeasure. Last I checked no one here worked for the cruise line and everyone is, basically, on the same side of the page of wanting to maximize the value of their vacation dollars.

While I'm not super vocal about some of these changes as the impact to me is minimal at this time, I am getting nearer to D+ and don't like to see any dilution; and I certainly don't bargain myself down in the frequent C&A benefit loss threads.

To me, many of the benefits I can ascribe a dollar amount to and thus they are considered in the total value proposition of booking a cruise. So I get where people are coming from, even if a particular benefit isn't applicable or important to me. Ridiculing those concerns and complaints is kind of petty.

I get what you are saying now. In your other post it sounded like you were booking the suites just to get the points which, as I said, you would have received in a JS anyway.

Feel free to move on to more important topics. This is a website that deals with multi-million dollar cruise ships and the people who spend thousands of dollars to sail in them. You won't find too many deep, existential, life changing topics around here.

...............complaining where you sit when you wait to leave the ship to me is "kind of petty".......;)

See my first post in the thread; if RCI is going to communicate a package of benefits, they should provide them, or update their communications to reflect what is accurate. I don't think it is hard to agree on that.

If the cruiseline won't let me stay on board for another week, then it just doesn't matter where I sit waiting to disembark. However we usually are doing early walk off, with our luggage, so while others are sitting around, we are on our drive home complaining about where they are sitting -- since there really isn't anything to do.
