mad-dog74 Posted January 30, 2017 #1 Share Posted January 30, 2017 Anyone had luck requesting skinny drinks at a bar? Looking for good strong drinks that aren't too sweet. My go-to on a cruise seems to be a long island, but they are awfully sweet and I'd just soon have it without the mix but with diet coke.
goneclear Posted January 30, 2017 #2 Share Posted January 30, 2017 Go with an original Martini ( Gin or Vodka) not sweet and pure alcohol. Cant beat that for strong. My Favorite is slightly dirty vodka martini.
Woodmnky Posted January 30, 2017 #3 Share Posted January 30, 2017 I've had no problem asking them to go light on the mixer and/or hold out things like grenadine. I always specify that it is because I don't like it too sweet so that they don't add in extra of something else in order to make the glass full. I am more than happy to have the glass not quite as full if it means that I'm not sipping on as much syrup. I often order a Long Beach Iced Tea with just a splash of cranberry juice. Nice and strong, but not too sweet.

cruisehappycouple Posted January 30, 2017 #7 Share Posted January 30, 2017 I try to watch what I eat and drink on a cruise. With regards to my weight. I always enjoy a Manhattan. Definitely one of the lighter and fewer calorie drinks you can order.
Rare cruiselvr04 Posted January 30, 2017 #8 Share Posted January 30, 2017 Vodka and Sprite zero has very few calories. Or a dirty martini.
TX_Atlantis_Cruiser Posted January 30, 2017 #9 Share Posted January 30, 2017 Just got off Allure yesterday and had someone next to me in the Pub on Sat ask for a "skinny" mojito which the bartender happily made explaining to another patron who asked that he made it without the syrup to cut out sugar
k8ster72 Posted January 30, 2017 #10 Share Posted January 30, 2017 When I want a lighter cocktail, I go for flavored vodka and soda water. Sent from my iPhone using Forums

cb at sea Posted January 30, 2017 #12 Share Posted January 30, 2017 I love a vodka tonic with lime....very refreshing. Drinks with more than one or two things are always "sweet".

mad-dog74 Posted January 31, 2017 Author #15 Share Posted January 31, 2017 Thanks for all the replies... I may try the martinis or the vodka tonics... wasn't sure if they carried many flavored vodkas or not.
BND Posted January 31, 2017 #16 Share Posted January 31, 2017 (edited) Honestly, a glass of wine has less calories than most mixed drinks. I've heard diet sprite and vodka is a good low cal/low carb drink. I don't do diet sodas but I know some who do. crzndeb Posted January 31, 2017 #18 Share Posted January 31, 2017 My drink of choice is a Dirty Gin Martini, but if you want to keep calories lower and prefer mixed drinks, you can always go vodka/soda with some extra limes, or a splash of cranberry. masonpips Posted January 31, 2017 #20 Share Posted January 31, 2017 Honestly, a glass of wine has less calories than most mixed drinks.. Yes! As someone on myfitnesspal the best drink for the calories is usually red wine. Not that I've ever given up food to have that glass [emoji1367][emoji23] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
