Rare LMaxwell Posted March 15, 2017 #1 Share Posted March 15, 2017 Other cruise lines usually have their buffets open 10pm-Midnight for late night snacks; a place to get some hot food, quick bites, etc. Not every RCI ship has Cafe Promenade and the buffet selections on competitors, even when limited to one section offers much more than CP. With early dinner it would be nice to have a late night spot after a show and make Royal more in line with competitors. Whatever happened with Quantum-Class that was supposed to have 24 hour WJ? Never happened? Do they still just close down at 9:30PM?? That's a bit early.
slyster Posted March 15, 2017 #2 Share Posted March 15, 2017 I would love to have that. I think most of us would especially if they are going to start charging for room service. At least keep it open until 11 or midnight or something.
39august Posted March 15, 2017 #3 Share Posted March 15, 2017 Me, me! I am trying X in Dec. and noted that their buffet has late evening hours, I believe until 1 PM! Limited selections of course.

toxicfairy Posted March 15, 2017 #5 Share Posted March 15, 2017 I would love it especially since i just read that the room service price went up to almost $8. Sent from my SM-J700T1 using Forums mobile app
Beachgirl19 Posted March 15, 2017 #6 Share Posted March 15, 2017 Would love to see WJ stay open later with some limited buffet selections. Like others have mentioned, especially due to room service cost. :D
ocav Posted March 15, 2017 #7 Share Posted March 15, 2017 A 24 hour windjammer would be interesting, especially when you fly from the UK and 5am is a normal time to wake up Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
cruzinlisa Posted March 15, 2017 #8 Share Posted March 15, 2017 A small area with some limited selections would be nice. On Disney they had a little buffet with pub type of food in the bar areas. They had things like mini crab Rangoon, meatballs, sliders, wings, mini tacos etc. They would put it out like around 10:30 or so. It was nice to have a small snack at night before bed, without eating a whole meal. Its not that much work to maintain it and its cheap food. It should cut down on room service some and also eliminate the experiences of people being hungry after having a few drinks and ordering a bunch of room service and then either falling asleep before it comes or realizing they are less hungry once they sober up. molsonschooner Posted March 15, 2017 #10 Share Posted March 15, 2017 I think it would be nice if WJ was open later. DW normally get some pizza and I get something from cafe promenade but the options there are quite limited.
cruisin0504 Posted March 15, 2017 #11 Share Posted March 15, 2017 Yes - we always enjoyed having a snack there while on NCL.
WillowHaven Posted March 15, 2017 #12 Share Posted March 15, 2017 Most definitely! It was one of the biggest things I preferred about our NCL cruise over our two on Royal. My daughter likes to stay and play at Adventure Ocean til it closes, but then is starving because dinner was 3-4 hours earlier. With NCL, we would just pop by the Garden Cafe and grab a little snack. On Royal, we had to order room service and hope it didn't take too long so that she could get to sleep. Or plan ahead and bring something back from WJ before it closed... but that didn't work very well.
luvscruising2007 Posted March 15, 2017 #13 Share Posted March 15, 2017 Yes, I would like to see WJ open until 1am or so. It is especially needed on the smaller ships without the Cafe Promenade.

Rare BermudaBound2014 Posted March 15, 2017 #16 Share Posted March 15, 2017 Excellent topic. I've been know to enjoy a late night snack after the casino. IMO no line does this better than 24 hour o'sheehans on NCL. Table service with food off an actual menu. Seems like an a table service restaurant might even be more efficient than a buffet. Are you listening RCL! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Rare RCLcruiser2012 Posted March 15, 2017 #17 Share Posted March 15, 2017 I would LOVE that!!! The buffet needs some upgrades too. I do like the ham station. :) If you aren't on a ship that has the promenade you are very limited. Remember back in the day there was a midnight buffet. Woodmnky Posted March 15, 2017 #18 Share Posted March 15, 2017 Yes. I would be very happy with a reduced selection of offerings later into the evening. We are not even night owls, but often enjoy a snack or 2nd dessert later in the evening.

davekathy Posted March 15, 2017 #21 Share Posted March 15, 2017 We are not late night eaters. However this is a great idea and I can see it being very popular for those that want that late night snack. Munchies after a night of drinking and dancing. That makes much more sense than having the entire WJ open late for just a few late night party types. We will many times go into the WJ around 8 pm for dinner, if we get too "chatty" in the lounges and miss our regular dinner time at 7 pm. It is usually pretty empty in there, except for a lot of officers having dinner in there.
TominNC Posted March 15, 2017 #24 Share Posted March 15, 2017 Good idea. 9:30 is too early. It would be nice to be able to wander in there late in the evening after other activities.
dani negreanu Posted March 15, 2017 #25 Share Posted March 15, 2017 A resounding YES. We had enough of very long wait in MDR, and the specialty restaurants (especially Chops) are no longer worth the added tag price, so we went to WJ at 8PM, but at 8.30 they start condoning off areas, and not replenishing food, so, yes, even a small area with hot food will be excellent.
