Is it too late to change cr

Then why did he not simply say that he has been a loyal Celebrity customer without detailing his point status? I think that would have been just as effective in supporting is comments regarding changing loyalties.

But I agree with you regarding a single incident and any consideration of switching loyalties, especially for that which he describes. But that also plays into my question regarding mentioning status........

Just my opinion.

What's the difference between someone mentioning their loyalty status in a post and having an icon displaying their loyalty status in their signature on this forum?

Why do those with them in their signature feel the need to let other board members know what they are?

There is always one wherever you go so i would continue with Celebrity but email the CEO and tell him your story.

People like her have no place in that role.

You're taking an anonymous poster's version of the events as gospel in besmirching an employee. That anyone had to go to the cabin to confiscate the speaker (after a warning, even) because they refused to turn down the music that was bothering others tells me all I need to know about the OP and his/her perception of things.

TBH most people who post on here are anonymous so by taking their word and offering a suggestion is the best we can do.

Not taking a stand either way regarding the GS rep. However OP, if you're going to jump ship, you can move to Azamara without losing any of your loyalty points or starting over. They co-earn on Celebrity and Azamara simultaneously since they both use the same Captains Club/LCV account number.

You'll find the quality of crew/cuisine/service the difference between night and day...as well as the pricing. :D

First World problems apparently.

We don't need rude, loud music playing passengers who take simple statements the wrong way. Adios!

I seem to remember a DJ in the atrium on several Celebrity ships and sailings playing rude, obnoxious, loud music but nobody took away their speakers.

When I read this post this morning I very nearly posted :-

There are three sides to every story, but with this one there could be five or six..... :D

In fact there are only two (not too) sides to short "guy" story.:halo:

I would complain about someone using a loudspeaker on the balcony or any public area other than the employees. Apparently you don’t think about the people around you. Get headphones or earphones like everyone else to keep the noise to yourself.

I am on a cruise to listen to the waves and not someone’s speaker blasting.

Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅

OP, if you are anyway apprehensive about going on another Celebrity cruise, then I would definitely try another line, as you can always come back to Celebrity. Nothing worse that always thinking something bad is going to happen, as it would ruin your cruise.

BTW, speaking as someone who likes my music really loud, no one should ever encroach on someone elses space with their music. I wear my headphones and blast away and that makes for a happy me and a happy folks around me.

While you are correct that loyalty points cross-accumulate between Celebrity and Azamara [there are historical reasons for "the link"], loyalty benefits on a comparable membership tier basis are not nearly equivalent between the two cruise lines with the greatest dichotomy in value at the Elite+/Discoverer+ and, most particularly, Zenith/Discoverer Platinum levels... For those who do not tend to book future cruises while aboard and/or who do not have [and perhaps never will have] a predominant cruise history with Azamara so as to qualify for their conceptually attractive "Free Nights" benefit, the advantage--on a "perks only" basis; I still consider Azamara when small ship size provides unique destination opportunities of interest and/or preferential docking location [ie; Asia]--is clearly with Celebrity [and whether I avail myself of them or not, I do prefer their broader array of entertainment/activity options]...

Several weeks ago, I outlined some of the key loyalty program differences [for a complete list, see the web pages] between Captain's Club and Le Club Voyage in another post here on the Celebrity sub-forum... If interested, you'll find those posts here...

Xport, One thing you failed to include in your lengthy description is that while on board Azamara there are several special LCV functions that you're invited to based upon your loyalty level. An example was on our recent port of call in Gdansk, local women cooked family style meals that 80 of the LCV members were invited to the closed function. higher LCV members were boarded onto bus #1 for the Azamazing evening. LCV members also get a discount of 15, 20 & 25% off the liquor package & upgrades based upon their level. There are other examples but that should suffice for now.

However the bottom line is that the OP can either sail another line and start the loyalty over as they originally opined or begin sailing on Azamara if they want to dump Celebrity for the time being. That way if they return, the sailings accrued on AZ increase the Celebrity points.

I'm really surprised by the entitlement and sense of outrage by the OP about their speaker being confiscated. I'd think they would be embarrassed or ashamed that such measures needed to be taken because of a disturbance they were creating for their neighbors. Behavior in this manner would indicate a sense of entitlement and a "me first" attitude and complete lack of consideration of neighbors. All that is fine if one is chartering a private yacht. When sharing a ship with another 2,900+ guests it's a complete lack of consideration for others. On a previous cruise our neighbors would sit on their balcony, strumming a guitar and singing in the most dreadful voices imaginable at all hours of the day and night. We were unable to simply sit on our balcony and relax, read or just enjoy peace and quiet. We never complained to GS (although in retrospect we should have), but since we paid as much as our neighbors for the accommodations and we couldn't enjoy ourselves as we'd have liked. It was most inconsiderate. I don't suppose those folks realized the impact their actions had, and maybe they just didn't care about anyone else's enjoyment. Perhaps the OP could think that his/her neighbors didn't share their taste in music and had as much right to peace and quiet as they did to listen to music. Earphones are a lovely solution to both. In our case, earplugs or going somewhere else were the only options.

I could be wrong, but the OP's post to me comes off as a spoiled brat complaining while having no consideration for fellow cruisers.

If only a couple of incidences - one of which seems to be an occurrence in which the officer correctly did her job - are enough for the OP to abandon Celebrity, then I am inclined to say good riddance.

Did you even bother to read the OP or did you and the others just want to jump on the moral outrage to make yourself look better than others? You had a bad cruise experience, so therefore all other people are inconsiderate. Hopefully you have never scrapped a deck chair across a surface and impacted the rooms below.

If you did actually read the post rather than just jump onto the "me-to" responses, how come your response doesn't take into account

1) By saying he is a foreigner

2) The poor English in the OP more than likely means that English isn't their first language

But their main complaint was that one officer turned up and said the music is too loud, turn it down. He did, he asked is this an acceptable level, they agreed and left and then later "Julie" turned up with the I don't care what anyone else said attitude that they found distressing. "Julie" wouldn't listen to his comment that it had been approved by another ships officer, but they felt picked on. If the first officer had just said turn it off and leave it off, the second visit wouldn't have been necessary and there would have been no confusion or "entitlement or sense of outrage" as you describe.

It could just be that it was English as a second language misinterpretation, or he did indeed felt picked on. Either way the best advise I have seen above is the

  • One bad apple isn't the whole orchard - enjoy all the rest that Celebrity has to offer
  • If you run into a bad apple, include it in your post cruise survey or on-board, when something can be done about it - then think Frozen - Let it Go!
  • Do a cruise on Azamara as at least the points can be combined if you decide to go back to Celebrity in the future
  • Never play music loud enough that you need someone to visit you in the first place - you don't know who is in the cabin next to you - sleeping baby, people trying to get their groove on, or people wanting to hear nothing else but the sound of the sea - and scrapping deck chairs.

Yes - I think you are wrong - for all the reasons stated above.

Why when one officer said this is okay then another one said it isn't - which officer is doing their job correctly?

Where did the OP say that he/she was actually called a foreigner? And where did he/she say that they told Julie that the other officer approved it? I think you need to reread the post.

And for all you know, the OP turned the volume back up after the first officer left since he/she couldn't hear it with the waves.

And what does "foreigner" mean anyway? The OP lives in Florida and 99% of ship staff, including the officers, are from outside of the US.
