BTB Perks

Back when we took a b2b for the second time, the biggest perk was being able to make reservations for the specialty restaurants on the last day of our first cruise. Now, though, everyone can book those ahead of time, so it's no longer a perk. Not going to the second muster drill is great. We have only done b2b cruises twice, both times from Port Everglades. Being able to walk to Total Wine for refills on the turnaround day was nice. That's doable from the low number piers, not the double digit ones.

As someone new to Princess, the OP should get an invitation to a past-passenger party on the second leg.

Since B2B cruisers are first on the ship for the next voyage, they have first crack at reserving things or getting their names on lists for special dinner events. Seems like a perk to me.

Being first to give Princess more of your money is a 'perk'?

If you book as two shorter, do you have to get off the ship and board with the other passengers?

It depends on the port and what CBP decides. In the US, the ship must be "zeroed out." Sometimes that means you have to get off, walk thru Customs, and re-board as soon as the cruise line says you can. Other times, particularly if there are a lot of B2B passengers, CBP will come on board for the passport check. You go to the theatre and they have crew there checking documents and names as you walk in. Then you walk out past a CBP agent who doesn't even look at your passport. Unfortunately, they do have to hold you there until all B2Bs have checked in with the crew members....and you can sit for a long time waiting for stragglers.

In foreign ports, it depends on their laws, and can change from one year to another. Once, in Barcelona, all we had to go was go to passenger services at a certain time. 2 years later we had to get off the ship and remain off for a couple hours. In Japan, we did not have to get off, but we chose to.

The ONLY thing that is consistent is that you'll get an instruction letter in your cabin a day or so in advance, and an "in transit" pass that will allow you to reboard at your convenience. We were instructed to use the crew gangway to reboard--no lines, no waiting.

moki'smommy gave a good description of what happens.

However, this is what happens at USA ports (other than Alaska) whether you booked this as a single cruise or as two cruises.

geoherb.. is the Total Wine by Walgreen's? If docked at pier 2 how long of a walk is it?

Thank You

No not next to Walgreens. Walk past Walgreens up SE 17th St. to the Embassy Suites. Turn left on Cordova Rd and walk to the Harbor Shops. Total Wine is next to Publix at the back side of the mall. It is about 15/20 min. walk one way.
