kittylovestocruise Posted February 5, 2018 #1 Share Posted February 5, 2018 I would love to book a cruise with the early saver rate. I cannot do this because it says no name change allowed. My husband and I have different last name for a couple of different reasons. I do not think it is right the I will have to pay more for a cruise on carnival due to different last names. For the cruise I am looking at the different in early saver and past guest is $35 a person. That is a least $70 more just because my husband and I have different last names. Is there a way around not having to pay more just because of different last names?
kingston13 Posted February 5, 2018 #2 Share Posted February 5, 2018 The name change is after you are booked. Are you asking if you can't do Early Saver because you have different last names? If that is the case yes you can book ES
Rare PrincessArlena'sDad Posted February 5, 2018 #3 Share Posted February 5, 2018 You can book early saver with different last names among the guests. No name changes means that once you book the cruise, you can't change which people go. So, if you book for yourself and your husband, you can't change it to yourself and your sister/friend later. aliblueyes Posted February 5, 2018 #4 Share Posted February 5, 2018 You can definitely book! You just can’t change the people in the rooms after you book. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Homosassa Posted February 5, 2018 #5 Share Posted February 5, 2018 You definitely can book with different last names. What gave you the idea that you can't?
ProgRockCruiser Posted February 5, 2018 #6 Share Posted February 5, 2018 Yeah, I'm confused about the OP's confusion. When I book and get my first confirmation, I get "John Smith" for my name (no, not really my name!), and "T Smith" for the second passenger, which stands for "TBD Smith". When I go into the booking, I update the second passenger info to whatever I want, perhaps "Jane Doe". I just can't change it again after that, I presume. CandR314 Posted February 5, 2018 #7 Share Posted February 5, 2018 No name changes does not mean no different last names. My wife and I have different last names too and always book ES.

Wondering the same thing. This is a new question I’ve never heard before!

Rare sparks1093 Posted February 6, 2018 #11 Share Posted February 6, 2018 Past guest is the best because you can cancel and get your $$$ back and also make changes. What is "best" for you isn't necessarily "best" for anyone else. "Best" is a very relative term.

Cruiseman38 Posted February 6, 2018 #15 Share Posted February 6, 2018 My fiancé and myself have different last names and always book ES with no additional charge. No name change means after you book.
lizardhowson Posted February 6, 2018 #16 Share Posted February 6, 2018 Threadstarter is just confused (having mis-interpreted Carnival's policy). In any case, Carnival routinely breaks their own rule about no name changes for Early Saver as long as you are OK with "donating" them a $50 fee for each name change. evandbob Posted February 6, 2018 #17 Share Posted February 6, 2018 Who remembers when a cruiseline or hotel would prohibit guests from booking the same cabin together if their surnames weren't identical?????? This had actually occurred back when we had morality police and hotel/cruise dicks patrolling properties 70 or 80 years ago, We've moved on since then. Shirleybird Posted February 6, 2018 #18 Share Posted February 6, 2018 So after reading other people reply's I just wanted to add my 2 cents. I book online myself. Sometimes hubby comes (same last name) sometimes he doesn't. As stated before, the second passenger will be "TBA Smith" (Smith used as an example). If hubby is coming I just go in Carnivals website under "Manager" and add his info. If I bring a friend I do need to contact Carnival to add the 2nd person since there last name is different. And yes, it can be done with Early Saver rate code.

jaggin Posted February 6, 2018 #21 Share Posted February 6, 2018 How about cabin changes on same ship? Does Early saver allow this?
Schoifmom Posted February 6, 2018 #22 Share Posted February 6, 2018 How about cabin changes on same ship? Does Early saver allow this? On same sailing? Yes, as long as you are not downgrading.

loanshark Posted February 6, 2018 #24 Share Posted February 6, 2018 Do not book as "TBA Smith".... Book it as a solo cabin, then add the 2nd passenger, once known, later.
ray98 Posted February 6, 2018 #25 Share Posted February 6, 2018 This has to be the only person who got that takeaway from 'no name changes'.
