Stockholder benefit officvially extended

I have never used the "form" but rather just sent a fax or snail mail to Princess with the requested information. Luckily I bought the stock back in 2008 at a great price and just wish I had bought more. Over the last 10 years I have realized a very nice return on my modest investment. One really nice angle is that it works on all Carnival owned cruise lines and it can be combined with any other available OBC. RCI does not allow their stock OBC to be combined with any other OBC.

I'm thinking of buying CCL stock today, in hopes of using for my Princess cruise August 18:

1. The Shareholder Benefit page says this is good for applicable sailings through July 31, 2019. Do they normally extend this date yearly or for some other period of time? Should I assume this will be an ongoing benefit? If not, it's not worth it for 1 cruise.

2. If I purchase this stock by selling other items within my IRA and buying CCL stock within my IRA, does that qualify? Again, the Shareholder Benefit page says to provide "a current brokerage or nominee statement". So, I think this would be a "nominee statement"?

Thanks for the clarification!

Each year since at least 2005 the CCL board has extended the benefit. While I would expect this will continue as in the past, no one can guarantee it. CCL stock currently pays around 3% dividend based on current market price.

Yes, you can own the stock in an IRA and qualify for the stockholder benefit. I do. I fax a copy of the page of my monthly IRA statement which contains the CCL stock, other items blacked out, of course. I either get a hard copy from my broker, or I print it on my PC.

Thanks for the clarification!

I've always assumed that the end date of benefits would just perpetually be extended and the date updated periodically. Has there ever been a time since the benefits were first introduced where they didn't honor them?

It's definitely a good time to buy!

We've used the CCL stockholder credit for cruises on Holland, Princess and Carnival. Purchased 100 shares in 2011 for $30.49 per share and have gotten $1200 in OBC so far.

Wow, that is a great return on investment! Not to mention dividends and the growth in share value. I didn't get in until May 2016 @ $49.04 but I'm still a happy camper!

Faxed in my share info about a month ago. I used FaxZero, free fax service.

It took about a week before it showed up in our Personalizer, I got a bit concerned so I called and the very nice lady said they were backed up and it would take a few days. Checked back and there it was, $100!

This is for our February 2019 cruise.

Does anyone know if the shareholder benefit can be used with a free cruise offer from the casino? The casino is paying the fare for the cruise.

I suspect that it can't, considering that other cruises obtained on "special rates" such as employee cruises do not allow them. It may have changed recently, but I doubt it. You can always call Princess and ask, the worst that can happen is that you learn that you can't use them. ;)

The benefit information says that anyone cruising on a complimentary basis is excluded. I've never even tried requesting it when doing the casino cruises. I guess you could try - worst they can say is "no."

Celebrity is part of Royal Caribbean. Unfortunately for those who own RCI stock, they don't allow people to combine their shareholder benefit with a lot of other promotions. My brother and his wife cruise on RCI ships a lot and get to use their shareholder benefit about half the time.

I have yet to be able to get the OBC on Royal Caribbean. If you got even the slightest deal on your cruise you can get the credits.

The cruise I just took in May, I submitted the info and that same day it reflected on my account.

In an old thread, there's an email address for submitting these. Anyone still use that? Seems like it would be a lot easier than faxing or having a dinosaur deliver it. I still have a fax machine but it's sitting on a shelf, I used faxzero since that seemed easier than printing something, setting up the fax, and and sending it that way.

Also, I used a trade confirmation since I just bought them yesterday, they won't show up in my statements till month end. I could screenshot the current holdings but that seems like too much work.

No email requests are accepted in North America...snail mail or fax.

Here's the most recent form which isn't required nor have the dates been changed but either way they'll accept a complete request.

Carnival aka Princess needs to get with it. I know they use mail & FAX to discourage us, but, really? Why not have a website I can securely submit the info and have it attached to my account?

Why - because it's a pain for us to do, they still have to handle the FAXes that come in (via a free FAX service). If I didn't get something for owning the stock (which is why I bought it), I'd sell it in a sec, RCL does much better...

they do not accept emails because file attachments can be very deadly with a possibility of containing virus, malware, spyware and other crap that can wreck havoc on computer systems. Even through these systems is protected by anti virus, anti malware software and firewalls, it only takes one undetected bad file to spread the payload and cause havoc

most company's these days use electronic fax (e-fax) which is kinda of sending emails with file attachments that is a little bit more secure

It works pretty well with the fax. [emoji3]

Works for me & much prefer the CCL shareholder credit which is combinable with other types of OBC. I’ve read that the RCL shareholder credit isn’t combinable with some other credits.

If RCL does much better with the application process, I think CCL overall does much better by having SOBC that’s combinable with any other type of OBCs.
