CruisingfromDE Posted June 17, 2018 #226 Share Posted June 17, 2018 That is correct. On my last cruise I requested a printout of my points earned on that sailing and the hostess gladly gave it to me. I also took photos of the final points showing on a slot machine the previous two cruises for my records. I am keeping track. Requesting a printout while on the ship is a great idea. I took a picture of the points showing on the slot machine and since it only showed my first name, they have repeatedly said they cannot verify which sailing it was from (even though it was the only cruise in which I spent any time in the casino) and the discrepancy is the difference between choice and prime and, of course, a comp cruise. cruisegirl1 Posted June 17, 2018 #227 Share Posted June 17, 2018 If I remember correctly, a $400 certificate = 1,600 points. YES - you are correct. In any case, they have no record of any play! Sorry for the confusion . I'll ask for a printout next cruise. M
maryjaden Posted June 17, 2018 #228 Share Posted June 17, 2018 After reading through your posts I am going to be sure keep my certificate in case on my next sailing there is a discrepancy. I have a certificate for a comp balcony so I was think that should prove. I had at least 4800 points.

lovelife Posted June 18, 2018 #231 Share Posted June 18, 2018 I tried to use my complimentary balcony cruise on a 2/17/19 Harmony sailing and they said no because of President's Day. I didn't think that would be counted as a major holiday. I booked 2/10/19 Harmony instead.
rte Posted June 18, 2018 #232 Share Posted June 18, 2018 You gave a lot of variables, but assuming $100 avg wager, 4 hrs a night for 14 nights.....1 pt = $5 avg wager for 10 mins. You would earn approx 20 pts/period times 6 periods/hr times 4 hrs/night times 14 nights = 6720 points Ok thanks for that. So for another question do you keep your status only for that year ,meaning do you have to build up after 1st of April to gain a free cruise.Or do your points count for the following year for your free cruise cheers

sellwingri Posted June 18, 2018 #238 Share Posted June 18, 2018 They still are giving out different information! I sent an email to Michael Bayley and received a call back the next day. I was told everything was now based on a 12 month period. My current status (Signature) is based on points earned from 4/1/2017 to 3/31/2018 and then updated every12 months. I also wish something was in writing. They can’t even send me a copy of the email that was sent.

psumother Posted June 18, 2018 #241 Share Posted June 18, 2018 What everyone needs to remember is this .... if you are prime today and cruise this month and get 25,000 points, then you cruise again in August, you are still prime. Your status will not change to signature until April 1 of the following year and will remain signature until March 31 of the following year. All points you accumulate during a 'CR year' (Apr 1 - Mar 31) determines your tier for the next CR year. AND, to further confuse everyone, if you are on a 9 day cruise that starts on Mar 29 and you are prime but during the CR year you accumulated 25000 points, will your tier change to signature on Apr 1 during the cruise? Probably not. SO, don't plan a cruise that crosses between CR years or you may not be a happy camper and all the complaining and emails you send to the CEO will not matter to anyone!!! I have been on the phone with them a lot (since Feb 2018). And above is what the supervisors have told me, for the roll out. The free cruise and the drink sticker meant a lot to us. We like to have a frozen drink before turning in for the night. So that saves us about $30 a night. I booked one of our free cruises 7 night Harmony July 7, 2018 (also was able to upgrade to a WS guarantee) They did explain about Holidays. They are not the Holidays that Royal usually recognizes. All the USA holidays are blackout dates. I'm surprised they didn't include "groundhog day" LOL. All in all it seems to be a fair program any 8 night or less cruise (except for the holidays) If you upgrade you can not use Royal's balcony discount. They just look at the difference between the room they allow you (lowest price in your tier category) and what you upgrade to. It only cost me $700 to upgrade from an inside to a WS guarantee. Unlike the Pinnacle free cruise where you get Zero points unless you upgrade to a suite. You will get Crown and Anchor points for the category you sail in. Another change is they are enforcing the "must book by 30 days" rule. I just booked a cruise for Jan and it was 31 days from the date of the certificate. But we got the certificate 2 days before the end of the cruise. So after so wrangling ( and discussing with supervisor) they accepted the certificate. I like the sticker too. I'm not a big drinker but is nice to have a pina colada once in a while. They also were fair with the "must book by 30 days" rule since I was on the ship for 4 consecutive cruises - 35 days. By the time I got off the ship, my first certificate officially expired. The one guy (definitely rude) told me I should have called while on the ship to use the certificate. When I called later and got a lady, she told me they are to use 30 days after you get off the ship if on consecutive cruises. It does really depend who you talk to. Always good to call back later if you think they don't understand the program. I read on another post that the holidays does include President's Day but they were able to book the prior week over Valentine's Day. NOW, I would have thought that Valentine's Day was a biggie!!! Just like Groundhog's Day ... lol.

I just booked a B2B on 2/15-23 and then 2/23-3 March (using 1 complimentary cruise each for me and my husband). That is over President's Day (which is why I chose that week) so it looks like this is another "rule" that they are not uniformly enforcing. Life is Good Cruising Posted June 18, 2018 #245 Share Posted June 18, 2018 When I asked about using my (tier) comp for the Holiday sailing, I was told I can and they would only apply the GS cash value of $1500 to that sailing. Of course, I choose to select another sail date and get the total full value of a GS, just had to pay the tax :D I could have also applied my husband's tier comp with mine and get an OS, but decided to use book both tier comps separately and just do a B2B :D

Next year I may try to combine the comps. I didn't realize they would allow you to do that. When they do that, they just use the cash value or do they allow you to still be fully "comped" with a discount on the upgrade ?

Sorry you are in a ruffle, it was only information to assist with determining status. It is not about what we want to go with, it's about the various answers that are being received from RCCL. Obviously it matters to the person asking the question. Yes, it is what it is, only RCCL has control of when it starts and when it ends. However, anyone can ask a question and anyone can try and help.
