JMorris271 Posted April 27, 2018 #51 Share Posted April 27, 2018 Those Greeks are slow builders, they started that building over 3000 years ago and they still don't have a roof on it or at lock up stage.:p They do have an elevator for the disabled at the Acroppolis. I rode on it when I visited last year. Bravo Greeko,
donaldsc Posted April 27, 2018 #52 Share Posted April 27, 2018 Sadly, I have heard the complaint about ancient sites not being ADA compliant many times from Americans. Why would anyone expect that archaeologically significant sites outside of the US would be in compliance w US ADA access laws? DON
Stateroom_Sailor Posted April 27, 2018 #53 Share Posted April 27, 2018 (edited) A couple Carnival "loyalists" tried out the Celebrity Summit for Bermuda (PR to NJ repo), and would daily cling to us and explain how miserable they felt, and if only Carnival would offer the same itinerary, how much better off they would be. They sailed for ports, and had already held their nose for RCCL, NCL, MSC, and Princess... all equally miserable experiences. They missed the chocolate melting cake, didn't like having all the flavors of ice cream to choose from, the ship was too quiet, they didn't like the decor... Some complaints were silly, while others, we understand that Celebrity isn't for everyone. After days of vague pax complaining, I finally asked, "What is it exactly that's wrong with the Celebrity crowd?" "They're snobs. No, nobody has said anything mean to me, but I can tell how they dress for dinner. They want people like us to feel bad." Slugsta Posted April 27, 2018 #54 Share Posted April 27, 2018 There was someone who posted on this site recently, complaining that (on a respositioning cruise in Australia) things had not been organised so that both sides of the ship got sun during the day

Rare frantic36 Posted April 27, 2018 #57 Share Posted April 27, 2018 Why would anyone expect that archaeologically significant sites outside of the US would be in compliance w US ADA access laws? DON +1 totally agree. Difficult for compliance to many countries access laws. A balancing act to ensure that people can access without damaging the site. cruzeluver Posted April 27, 2018 #58 Share Posted April 27, 2018 Why would anyone expect that archaeologically significant sites outside of the US would be in compliance w US ADA access laws? You mean the entire planet does not revolve around the expectations of some Americans? Who knew? ;p I think one of my favorite complaints was a woman going on and on about what a bad port Cartagena, Colombia is. I was surprised because we had just finished a really wonderful day there so I had to find out what the disappointment was. Turns our her beef was her inability to find a McDonalds or same place with chicken nuggets for her kid. Really???

flyingv4me Posted April 27, 2018 #60 Share Posted April 27, 2018 Day three of an eleven day cruise (our first cruise!). At dinner this couple is seated at the next table and both are NOT happy and complaining about how they had no money left to enjoy their cruise. It seems they had gone on a losing streak in the casino the night before and had gone through their eleven-day casino budget in two days. It was obviously the cruise line's fault and they decided they were going to Guest Services after dinner and get their money back. Wonder how that turned out... adamrosie Posted April 27, 2018 #61 Share Posted April 27, 2018 A couple on one of our Princess cruises complained about everything during lunch one day. The matzo balls were too small, the ribs in "spicy barbecue sauce" were too spicy, etc. If they had matzo balls, you are SUPPOSED to complain about them. It’s Jewish law. The only perfect matzo balls are those made by bubbe. Sent from my iPhone using Forums

ldubs Posted April 27, 2018 #63 Share Posted April 27, 2018 Some years ago we did a family cruise on Carnival to celebrate my youngest son’s 21stB-day. During the cruise my middle son and I were wandering around the top deck where there is, among other youngster stuff, a kiddie pool. Little tykes were splashing, laughing, squealing, and having a great time like little tykes are supposed to do. While we were walking by, this woman stormed up, put her hands on her hips, and proclaimed in a very loud voice that this was not her idea of a vacation. Then she did the twirl and stormed away. She was obviously referring to the kids playing. I figured she probably wanted an excuse to post on CC about how kids ruined her vacation.

Not knowing how much they had budgeted is hard but I imagine the cruise line would have bent over backwards to ensure that the customer was able to access more funds from their bank, so that they could still gamble on the next 8 days of the cruise. SRF Posted April 28, 2018 #68 Share Posted April 28, 2018 Not cruise. I related on other threads. But at a very nice Hungarian restaurant in Budapest. Picked by our Hungarian friends. About the time we finished, across the restaurant comes this, obviously American female, voice, saying, "But this isn't like they make it at HOME." REALLY??? Maybe that is a reason to travel, to find out how they make it where it comes from.
