Princess ship ... Princess rules ... don't like it ... change cruise lines ... or just suck it up

I don't like the new PBP vrs the previous AIPB ...  I deal with it ...

Get out much?   😁

Actually, I do.

I have 74 Princess cruises, and this year is the first time that I have been hit with this Chisel.

Do you get cheated and robbed a lot?

Are you used to it?

Just wondering.

Actually, I still like Princess.

Unfortunately they have become a little cheaper each year after being purchased by Carnival.

The Carnivalization of Princess.

I have spent and continue to spend thousands on Princess cruises.

I don't lose sleep over a coffee package whether I paid $38 for or I received for free in a mini bar exchange that does not carry over to another cruise.

You can thank your fellow passengers for selling their cards on eBay and abusing the system for these changes.

If you hate what Princess is doing maybe it is time to move on?

There are so many choices out there.

Thank you for your generous advice.

However, a chisel is a chisel, no matter how small.

Princess and other cruise lines are looking for ways to squeeze more money out of the customer, and the change in the coffee card perk is a good example.  I guess I would think it would difficult to determine that a few cards sold on ebay would have any effect, after all those cards were paid for or earned.

My biggest issue is I had no way of knowing where I was on my uses as it didn't appear in the shipboard account anywhere that I had used 5 of 15.  I hope they have fixed that now.

Because many if not most of the expired coffee cards often discussed were given free as a trade for a free minibar set up or purchased with nonrefundable OBC.

The use of a punch card went out of style long time ago.  Technology is much more efficient for everyone.

I cannot beleive that Princess used those antiquated cards for so long.  The Medallion conversion probably forced them to modernize.

That’s surprising...would think both elites in a cabin would get one coffee program but obviously not for you.

Next month we’ll learn about how the Royal manages the elite exchange for the 2 coffee programs...do you have any experiences when making the swap during the first of B2B 7-day cruises?

Ours can only be booked as 2 cruises which are linked together in the same cabin.  Our OceanReady Pass shows both confirmation numbers but is listed as a 14-day cruise.  I’ve read posts that in our situation the coffee program would be valid on both cruises but others who have said no.

Unfortunately this appears to be another example of Princess being consistently inconsistent & lacking any standardization.  The coffee program being electronically linked to our onboard account was implemented over 9 months ago & they need a clearly stated policy that’s followed on all ships.  As you know calling Princess could provide one answer & onboard staff a completely different answer...it shouldn’t be that way.

Just got off the Caribbean Princess.  We did a b2b, but my invoice was booked as a 14 day cruise..one deposit.

Caribbean Princess is now fully Ocean Medallion.

Traded our mini bar for 2 coffee cards on day one (call room service).   In ten minutes the coffee cards were loaded on to the medallions (even though the mini bar was taken away later in the day).

We did not close out our account at the end of the first cruise, but did have to close out our casino account the last night of the first cruise.  When returning from immigration early morning the first day of second cruise, we were given another mini bar setup. We did not know that all the unused coffee "punches" were rolled over to the second week..so we exchanged for the coffee cards ,again.  Since we were using our old paper cards on the first few days of the first cruise ..we started the second cruise with almost 50 "punches".  Had we known that the first card rolled over..we would have kept the mini bar and gotten beer and diet coke, instead.

All my OBC were given as a 14 day cruise (military, stock and FCC) and the free internet minutes were given as a 14 day cruise (not two 7's).

Same experience for us on the Royal in November.  We were on b2b 7 day cruises (booked as 14 day) and traded the minibar each week for coffee cards.  During the second leg of the cruise we found those unused punches leftover from the first week rolled over the the second week.

Don't want to start a new thread for a few simple questions.  Have cruised Princess before.  If I remember correctly no Coffee Card is needed for the brewed coffee at the International Cafe, correct?  That is also the only place to get brewed coffee.  We are traveling on the Emerald for the first time.  Thanks.

You do need the coffee card for brewed coffee at the IC, or pay the cost for it.  It's free in the buffet area.

What is the price for brewed coffee at the the IC?  Is the buffet coffee now brewed and not syrup in the buffet?  Last cruise was on the Star two years ago.

hi all!

I was hoping somebody might be able to help me understand these new coffee cards on princess. I called princess, and the customer service rep I spoke with said that brewed coffee and tea is always complimentary, and that the coffee cards are only needed for specialty coffee and hot chocolate. I’m confused, because when you go into the personalizer to purchase a card, it says one is needed for brewed coffee and tea as well. Can anyone on here tell me which of these is correct? We are sailing on the royal princess if that makes a difference at all. I understand that some things could differ between different ship classes.

Thanks for any advice on this in advance! And I look forward to reading more and posting more on here leading up to our first cruise!

First off some customer service persons don’t have the info. Coffee and tea is complementary in the buffet, and dining room. Some coffee lovers don’t care for that coffee and like true brewed in the International Cafe, or Pastry shop

I'm not sure, I think for regular brewed it's around $1.75/$2 a cup.  And it's brewed, and I think the coffee in the buffet is the syrup based.  Maybe someone who has sailed more recently can reply.

So sad 😞 I have 2 paper coffee cards from prior cruises and was told could be used on the next trip. Well the next trip isn't until next April/May because we needed to change our plans for this April. Now I will not be able to use 1 full and 1 with 2 punches next trip.

Well it is a 12 day so will use the 15 I will need to purchase. And I do like the coffee in the buffet on the Regal so will see what 2020 brings on Princess.

All Princess ships have coffee made from concentrate in the buffet & dining rooms except for Royal-Class ships (Royal, Regal, Majestic) which have filtered coffee machines that uses ground coffee.

Unless it’s recently changed, the Pastry shop on Royal-Class ships only had specialty coffees but not brewed coffee the last time we sailed on the Royal.

Sixty bucks down the drain.  How do you feel?

Those were purchased with CASH in good faith and with the information that they would be good on furture cruises.

Crooks.

It is really bad that Princess expired something that was never to expire.  That is a bad PR item, but most people will go "meh, $30 isn't a big deal", so it happens, and will continue to happen.

Every year a new small "gotcha".

None big, but the effect adds up.

Too bad.

the 'punches' on future cruises was not the breaking point ... the abuse of having a punch or two on a card and using that to obtain for free the brewed coffee in IC for future cruises was the problem

nip it

nip it in the bud

that's what Princess finally did
