Rare mysty Posted March 15, 2019 Author #851 Share Posted March 15, 2019 Last night Myster and I enjoyed an SS excursion called Good Evening, Saigon. It was wonderful! Began with cocktails and a special show featuring traditional music, dances, and costumes from the northern and southern regions of Vietnam at the Majestic Hotel. Then off to dinner at Mandarin Restaurant. It was delicious! Steamed Rice Pancakes in Lotus Leaf..... Spring Rolls..... Banana Flowers Salad with Grilled Beef..... This was an excellent tour!
turtlemichael Posted March 16, 2019 #852 Share Posted March 16, 2019 I thought it the best meal we have had off the ship. And the dining companions were so good!
Rare mysty Posted March 16, 2019 Author #853 Share Posted March 16, 2019 (edited) Today was our second day in HCMC. Myster and I did the Saigon Street Food Experience SS tour. It was wonderful! Of course, more market exploration..... Lotus Flower..... Our final stop on the tour was lunch at Nha Hang Ngon Restaurant. The concept behind the restaurant is to bring together many different street vendors under one roof. In this compact venue, a wide array of classic Vietnamese dishes from throughout the country are prepared with the flair, independence and simplicity of the impressive local street fare. It was amazing! Beautiful decor..... One of multiple courses (pork and rice pancakes) served as part of our "light" Vietnamese lunch..... Two wonderful SS tours in Saigon! We are now beginning our sail out. The ship had turned around prior to docking yesterday. Starboard side was pier side. Unibok Posted March 16, 2019 #854 Share Posted March 16, 2019 (edited) Nice! I did the same two excursions, and thought they were fantastic! Glad you enjoyed them as well, and that you shared gorgeous pictures of the events. Interesting that they turned the ship around while you were out. Actually they turned the ship around before we docked yesterday. It was a PROCESS! Today we just nicely sailed out.

Emtbsam Posted March 17, 2019 #860 Share Posted March 17, 2019 Greetings from Singapore. We arrived yesterday after a wonderful flight on Singapore Airlines. We met up with the Wellseasoneds yesterday and the four of us will take the hoho bus to the botanical gardens today. The heat and humidity is simply staggering but did not keep us from walking about 4 to 5 miles yesterday. We are looking forward to seeing everyone on board tomorrow.

Oh my, enjoy the botanical gardens. They are incredible. The orchid section is worth every penny regardless of the construction underway. And, sneak into the gift shop for some much deserved air conditioning from time to time. if you are looking for a great Peranakan restaurant close by the gardens that you can walk to, Candlenut’s food is incredible. Probably the best in the whole world, actually. Have fun! Edited March 17, 2019 by Stumblefoot Added foodie pics

turtlemichael Posted March 17, 2019 #863 Share Posted March 17, 2019 Just a few more pics from our two days in HCM City. Motor bikes, inside the Central Post Office with Uncle Ho watching over us, the market, a lunch break rest and pineapple juice at the Rex Hotel roof bar.

How did you like the Ritz? We stayed at the JW recently because of its location to the metro line, but wondered about the Ritz. Have fun on the Whisper! Look forward to following along. Emtbsam Posted March 18, 2019 #874 Share Posted March 18, 2019 This is our second time staying here, and we love it. The location works for us because we like to walk, and there is also public transportation fairly nearby. Highly recommend the concierge floors and Platinum card benefits. We were able to check in at 8 am, were upgraded to a corner suite and can check out at 4pm if desired. Also get $100 hotel credit and one free limo ride.
Bluebelle14 Posted March 18, 2019 #875 Share Posted March 18, 2019 We've stayed at the Ritz Singapore (Club Room) many times and always before a S/S cruise. We are "Ritz Regulars" (always a club room) and there will always be S/S cruisers boarding with us. The "Club" is like La Terrazza without the motion...the water is visible below.
