hladygirl Posted September 23, 2018 #2 Share Posted September 23, 2018 Not me. What a waste of food. It was great to see but the chocolate taste was blah! So many people loaded their plates with stuff and then left most thereto throw out.

FLAHAM Posted September 23, 2018 #4 Share Posted September 23, 2018 I don't. Some shapes were clever. Poor chocolate taste throughout. Lots and lots of wasted, half-eaten chocolate.

gknep Posted September 23, 2018 #6 Share Posted September 23, 2018 Went to it on my first NCL cruises in 2002 and 2004. It was not there on my last couple. When did they stop doing it?
xriva Posted September 23, 2018 #7 Share Posted September 23, 2018 After seeing people pick over items and put them back on my first experience, I don’t miss it. Sent from my iPad using Forums
lenquixote66 Posted September 23, 2018 #8 Share Posted September 23, 2018 I do For the past 15 years I was unable to eat chocolate .Recently I have been able to and would live a chocolate buffet.
Rare BirdTravels Posted September 23, 2018 #9 Share Posted September 23, 2018 I do not miss it. Kinda of a gimmick that the guests did not really appreciate or partake in. NCL was turning 10's of thousands of pounds of chocolate into fish food each week across their [smaller] fleet. This kinda goes with the I've been sailing NCL long enough to remember when... thread
Rare PATRLR Posted September 23, 2018 #10 Share Posted September 23, 2018 I guess I don't. I didn't realize it wasn't on the Bliss in June. I am pretty sure it was on the Getaway last fall, but maybe it wasn't which further reinforces that I probably don't miss it. And I agree that most of it was lousy with very little taste, but that can be said for most all of the deserts on NCL buffets.
newmexicoNita Posted September 23, 2018 #11 Share Posted September 23, 2018 Not me. What a waste of food. It was great to see but the chocolate taste was blah! So many people loaded their plates with stuff and then left most thereto throw out. totally agree. The food was wasted, except for the beauty of seeing what can be done with chocolate it was a waste of time as well. Every time time and or money is wasted the cost is passed on to us. 123linz123 Posted September 23, 2018 #12 Share Posted September 23, 2018 I've done chocolate buffets on other linrs but not NCL. I make chocolate truffles with Belgian and Swiss chocolate. So I'm probably a choco snob...... but the chocolate itmes in the buffets have been cheap and I don't remember 1 single dish that was good. Rare Newleno Posted September 23, 2018 #13 Share Posted September 23, 2018 I dont miss it, I dont miss staying up late to get it, the last few years they changed the buffet anyway, it was mostly chocolate desserts not pure chocolates.
yankees111 Posted September 23, 2018 #14 Share Posted September 23, 2018 Don’t miss it at all. The chocolate quality was not good at all and it was just wasted calories. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
dcruiser50 Posted September 23, 2018 #15 Share Posted September 23, 2018 Don't miss it at all, love chocolate but hated the mad rush and plates left all over the ship. Just wish they would bring back the pillow mints and box of godiva
Barb Nahoumi Posted September 23, 2018 #16 Share Posted September 23, 2018 The first time that I went to the Chocoholic Buffet, I was very disappointed with the taste of the food. Pretty to look at, but that's about it.
Rare sprint180 Posted September 24, 2018 #17 Share Posted September 24, 2018 Never been to one but I love me some chocolate so I'm sure it would have been right up my alley.
FranknBeans Posted September 24, 2018 #18 Share Posted September 24, 2018 Same here - wasn't good. Quantity over quality... I miss watching people gorging as if it was their last meal.
jazzydiver Posted September 24, 2018 #19 Share Posted September 24, 2018 I'm glad I have photos from my early cruises, but I'm OK with it disappearing. Like others have said, everything was very pretty to look at, but the flavor of the desserts was lacking and I was always disappointed most things didn't taste as good as I expected.
Vyhanek Posted September 24, 2018 #20 Share Posted September 24, 2018 NCL has never done desserts well. Back then the chocolate had no flavor, still today, dessert is still the weak link in the meal.
dexddd Posted September 24, 2018 #21 Share Posted September 24, 2018 It always looked nice but not taste so nice. Lots of waste and people camping out to be "first" like a black Friday event.
spanishguy1970 Posted September 24, 2018 #22 Share Posted September 24, 2018 I remember everything tasted the same, the chocolate was greasy ( which they probably added crisco) and just not tasty, Ugh, always wondered what kind of chocolate they used. I don't miss it at all
TFLG Posted September 24, 2018 #23 Share Posted September 24, 2018 I agree with nearly everyone else, it was a complete waste of barely edible brown goo that way too many people left piled on plates in the hallways.
RD29P5 Posted September 24, 2018 #24 Share Posted September 24, 2018 I can't really miss what I never got to experience. However for me that is probably a good thing, because once I start it is tough to stop when chocolate is involved. Probably one of the worst thing's I have done was the chocolate farm and tasting tour we did on Kauai a few years ago. It gave me a new appreciation of dark chocolate that I had avoided for year's. It also has caused me to avoid the lower end chocolate which hasn't done my wallet any good.
