Penguin11 Posted November 11, 2018 #1 Share Posted November 11, 2018 We just arrived home from our Nov 3rd Anthem cruise. We had a great time, and could not imagine life without cruising again. in fact we we took advantage of the cruise next offer. 🤪. Bullet points windjammer - plentiful, fresh, variety MDR - lots of repetition every evening, but served the purpose and wait staff was attentive and fun. Cabin - balcony, was larger than we expected, room was sparkling clean, room attendant (Vessy) was kind and very attentive. Shows- only went a few, two70 was amazing. A few afternoons sat there for lunch from the cafe and just stared into the hypnotic ships wake. casino - 💩🤯🤬🙀🤕🤮🤢🥵😡 ifly - fantastic rock climbing- fun flowrider - REALLY FUN, BUT VERY HARD Pools - wonderful Solarium - HEAVENLY Rock hall - our nightly hang out for a cocktail and music Boleros - Salsa dancing 😻 I was a wonderful, Anniversary cruise. With gods will, the first of many... Here is the bad part. In bermuda our balcony was facing the water. I had the balcony door open, and my husband and I were sharing an intimate moment when i noticed a DRONE flying just outside my balcony. Obviously recording us. So, I dont know how many other people were recorded. I called security to report, but what can i do. Most likley a pervert looking for a cheap thrill. well i hope they enjoy it.... so mortified. My husband was extremely angry. Dont know if it was a passenger, or someone on the island. My own stupidity I suppose by letting my guard down. And keeping the curtain open facing the water. DISGUSTING!!!
Rare John&LaLa Posted November 11, 2018 #2 Share Posted November 11, 2018 I read drones are allowed onboard now.
Rare A&L_Ont Posted November 11, 2018 #3 Share Posted November 11, 2018 The drone was most likely from land though, still creepy though.
mattb31 Posted November 11, 2018 #4 Share Posted November 11, 2018 As someone who flys these things all the time, unless that drone was hovering like 5-10 feet off your balcony for an extended period of time, I doubt they were trying to specifically record you or try to snoop on anything. But then again, if the drone was just hovering there they were probably creeps. Regardless, Bermuda law requires drone operators to stay 50m away from boats/vehicles/crowds etc, so if you could see it out your balcony they were def breaking the rules. Rare puppycanducruise Posted November 11, 2018 #9 Share Posted November 11, 2018 A drone outside your balcony? Creepy! I would call security.
luvscruising2007 Posted November 11, 2018 #10 Share Posted November 11, 2018 (edited) Drones are intrusive. If all operators were responsible and considered others, maybe I would accept the drones. Unfortunately not everyone is ethical enough to be considerate. I don't think drones should be allowed on any ship. And anyone who uses one to fly over a ship should have the drone confiscated and never returned. fredflint Posted November 11, 2018 #11 Share Posted November 11, 2018 I would have thrown something at it, most drones are pretty fragile.
Rare island lady Posted November 11, 2018 #12 Share Posted November 11, 2018 A few years ago, while on EX doing the NE route, we were docked in Portland Maine. I was coming out of the bathroom..dressed thankfully...when I looked beyond where my DH was standing facing away from the balcony. I asked him "what's that?" Which we saw was a drone hovering just a few feet from our balcony. It was there for a minute as we watched it curiously. I then grabbed my binoculars and stepped out onto the balcony. It zipped off in a hurry...right down to the parking garage that had an open deck near the ship. As I watched, a 20 something young man was quickly retrieving it and tossing it into the trunk of his car. He drove off in a hurry..apparently worried that I could report him. Yeah...agree with the OP...very creepy!!

crystalspin Posted November 15, 2018 #21 Share Posted November 15, 2018 Leaving your balcony door open messes with the climate control not only of your cabin but all in your 'sector'. Just saying.

Just saying. I read it to say her balcony curtains were open, not the door itself. To the OP, I too would have been furious. Thank you for the heads up while in port, and I’m sorry this happened to you guys. We would have thought nothing of leaving our balcony curtains open either while in port, after checking to see if the window washers were outside. Started cruising when Royal didn't even have Balcony cabins, had tiny Port Hole s for windows. But mid 90's when Vision Class with all that glass came out we quickly realized Window Washers were doing their job while ship was n Port... There is no expectation of privacy on a balcony of a cruise ship.
