Bermuda+drone = CREEP

I don't think cruise lines should allow drones onboard. Maybe I'm in the minority, but that's my feeling. If that drone came from land, there's nothing that can be done, but if it was from someone on board, then that person needs help.

That was Galveston and a Vision class ship in the posted video.

Personally I have no problem with the drones. There is no expectation of privacy on a balcony of a cruise ship.

Obviously the police in Texas have a problem with it.

That was the cops making the video, look at the beginning. The drone case is sitting on his patrol car. There is no privacy in this day just because you cannot see anyone else. Look online for videos of the Nikon Coolpix P900 and P1000. That thing can take clear pictures and video so far away that you cannot see the person taking the images at all.

I don’t have a problem with them in general. I don’t object to cruise lines allowing them onboard to be transported between ports but they should keep their distance from the ship and definitely not be close up to the balconies. The 50 meters away in Bermuda seems like a reasonable rule.

Look again.  Cops showed up at the end with several officers and several patrol cars.  The drone operator was not in uniform.  The "cop car" with the package on the trunk you mentioned in the beginning....looks like a taxi to me.

Front crash bar and a spotlight at the driver window. That of course does not mean the rest were not there to end his filming.

What I think the drone operator did wrong for sure was the last three minutes. Directly overhead they should not do. There may be rule about the channel and port being no fly. There are many no fly areas. I live in one.

Agree...directly over the whole ship.  There is a reason one or more police boats escort a ship out of port.  Why would they want a strange drone flown by who knows who...to fly low over a ship.  I can see why they showed up.

....until you realize how good the zoom lens is on some of those drones.:classic_ohmy:

Someone could go on that side with a boat with a zoom lens. I have taken pictures of the ship from the Bermuda ferries. I did not happen to have a zoom lens on but I could have and taken some close up shots with my long birder lens.

Agree. Started cruising when Royal didn't even have Balcony cabins, had tiny Port Hole s for windows. But mid 90's when Vision Class with all that glass came out we quickly realized Window Washers were doing their job while ship was n Port...

Agree window washers can also surprise you , close curtain

I am guess the window washers and painters, etc. have seen it all before.  And plenty of it.  Probably numb to it by now, and have seen things that burned their eye balls.  Something they

would rather forget.  :classic_blink::classic_wacko:

Who was the house band in the Music Hall?  My last cruise October 27th was the Royal Swedes, but they were leaving the ship.  How is the new band and what kind of music do they play?

Hi Gayle ☺️

"The Switched On Band' is currently onboard Anthem.

They were IN the room.

The drone was looking through the window.

The OP mentioned an open balcony door and I assume the curtain was also pulled back.

Biker, who wonders if it's possible to join the balcony club on Celebrity Edge which doesn't really have a "balcony".

I was wondering about balconies on Edge.  It looked like there were none.  I don't get that

As I said on other Drone Thread miss the days when you could Skeet Shoot off back of Royal Ships, and I'm an Expert shot...

Do you remember the episode of Harry's Law that opened with Harry shooting down a drone in her back yard?
