Cdresser Posted February 9, 2020 #141 Share Posted February 9, 2020 Report post # Date of Cruise: 12/08/19 Ship: Edge Cabin #: 15103 Deck #: 15 Cabin Category: Edge Villa Cabin Location: Forward Port, 2 entries - one on deck 15 and one on deck 16. The entry on deck 15 is across the hall from a "secret" side door to the Retreat lounge. The entry on deck 16 is located within the Retreat area. Bed Position: Facing window Balcony Type: Traditional Balcony/Window Size: Very large Balcony/Window View/Obstruction: None Balcony Overhang?: None Magic Carpet Issues?: None Noise Issues?: None, we never heard our neighbors or anyone using the Retreat even though there are loungers right outside the upper level door. Wind Issues?: None Connecting Cabin? Where Does it Connect?: No Suite Details: The Edge Villa is the 2-story suite with living room/dining area/bathroom on the first floor and the master bedroom/bathroom on the second floor. The bathroom on the first floor has a shower and the master bathroom has both a tub and a walk-in shower with a bench. The bed faces the windows which are floor to ceiling. There is a drop-down panel tv over the bed. There is a pull-out couch on the first floor and the balcony is accessed from the first floor. The balcony has a hot tub which could seat 4-6. The hot tub needs to be filled for each use by the room attendant and drained and cleaned after each use. This made is a little less convenient to use, but we set a standing "ask" to have it filled to use by 9pm each night and we thoroughly enjoyed ending our days with a soak before bed. The balcony was completely private. Advantages/Problems/Comments: We loved our week in the villa. We entertained guests almost every day including a party for 14 people with space for more. Every time we entertained, our butler provided an assortment of nibbles at no charge to us. If you have mobility problems, this is not the suite for you since it is 2-story. Being close to the lounge and retreat area enabled us to take full advantage of those perks. Since the suite comes with unlimited specialty dining, we ate in the specialty restaurants for almost every meal. Would You Book It Again?: Absolutely, but only if I could get it through the MoveUp program like I did for this cruise because it is out of my price range otherwise. I would call it an obstructed view cabin. Balcony Overhang?: balcony is completely covered by balcony above and further covered by Magic Carpet . You could hear people opening their IV Wind Issues?: None Connecting Cabin? Where Does it Connect?: No Suite Details: Advantages/Problems/Comments: Great Location. Would You Book It Again?: Yes, but I wasn't a HUGE fan of the IV. In concept it was fine, but the A/C shuts off the moment you open it. In the Caribbean, even when it is 80F outside, the room immediately gets SUPER humid and it takes about 45 minutes after closing to get back to a comfortable temperatures.. Didn't bother me as I'm more a Moana - focus on the line where the sky meets the sea. Balcony Overhang?: Honestly I didn't notice. Magic Carpet Issues?: None - other side of ship Noise Issues?: Nope. Wind Issues?: Nope. Connecting Cabin? Where Does it Connect?: No Suite Details: n/a Advantages/Problems/Comments: Great Location. Would You Book It Again?: Yes! Where Does it Connect?: Yes Suite Details: Na Advantages/Problems/Comments: Good location/ creaking sounds / not a fan of IV - shade comes down over outer window. I’m an early riser and I like to enjoy veranda early in the am while my husband is sleeping with a cup of coffee... unable to do that because I would need to raise the blind and flood the room with light. Also opening the window shuts off the a/c regardless if you close the bifold frosted glass door. I did enjoy the extra room in the stateroom when the window was closed however it was more like an ocean view cabin than a veranda to me. Except for the constant creaking on the ship, we would give it a 4 star rating. Bed faces wall in these S3 rooms. Great cabin steward! Kem. Half the size of Solstice Class Royal Suites. Balcony/Window View/Obstruction: Yes, to the left (aft) Balcony Overhang?: yes Magic Carpet Issues?: n/a Noise Issues?: only once from deck 14 early in the morning Wind Issues?: no Connecting Cabin? Where Does it Connect?: no Suite Details: Beautiful suite, great location, easy access to Luminae, the retreat, FWD elevators and stairs. Balcony size was disappointing. Huge bathroom and plenty of storage. Safe in the closet is pretty small. Two USB plugs in one side of the bed and an outlet on the other, in addition to the standard box on the desk/make up area in the bedroom. This lighted makeup desk, also disappointing. If you need a magnifying lighted mirror to apply your make up, bring your own. Advantages/Problems/Comments: Good location and great service. This was the Apex Maiden Voyage and our first cruise in 17 months. Had a great time and were so grateful of being part of this chapter in Celebrity Cruises history. The crew was fantastic and really happy of having guests back on the ship. Would You Book It Again?: Only if the price is right. Originally booked on a SS-1 got this RS through the MoveUP program.
