Not trying to game the system or anything, just curious how it works and thinking ahead to possibly booking my next cruise as an interior, and if theres a chance to upgrade to a nicer room, I'd do it, otherwise I'd just stay as is happily! I can’t answer your questions, but I do believe this: RCI’s ‘algorithms’ whatever they are, are aimed at maximizing their profits. 🙂 We may never get a handle on this, just like never understanding who they used to choose to upgrade without cost. 🤷♂️ Edited August 7, 2019 by barbeyg

There’s only two of us. Wondering if that makes a difference. 🙂 One of our upgrade choices is for a 2bdrm GS -and it's just the two of us...

However, it is not so much the "category of room" you book as how much you have paid for your original reservation (which is closely related). They have a formula for evaluating bids that seems to take account of the amount you already paid so if two people bid the same amount for the same room category, the one who has already paid more for his or her original room has a better chance of winning. I thought that price paid did NOT factor into it. From what I have read those with casino comps and/or low casino pricing got the same bid prices as those that paid a lot more for their cabins 1

depplep Posted August 7, 2019 #3205 Share Posted August 7, 2019 Have a Junior Suite for Aug. 16 Mariner, bid on Grand Suite at $100pp on Monday. Haven't heard anything yet. 9 days out.
Cruzingal#9 Posted August 8, 2019 #3206 Share Posted August 8, 2019 We got the RoyalUp email yesterday for our October 5th cruise on the Symphony. We're in a balcony and put in a bid for a Junior Suite. After this cruise we will be 8 nights away from Diamond Plus. Minimum bid was $300pp and I put in a bid for $350pp. My thoughts are that we will get 14 nights credit with the Junior Suite instead of the 7 nights in the balcony, leaving us only 1 night away from the Diamond Plus. It's cheaper to pay the extra $700 to get the extra 7 nights credit than it would be to take another 7 day cruise and still be 1 night away. Does that make sense??? Cruzingal#9 Posted August 8, 2019 #3207 Share Posted August 8, 2019 I was just reading back through the pages and came across one saying if you're upgraded you do not get the extra C & A points. Does anyone know if that is true or not? if it is true, I'm seriously considering withdrawing my bid. I'm happy with my balcony, just wanted to get the extra points for the JS. ElizaZ Posted August 8, 2019 #3208 Share Posted August 8, 2019 Well I’ve increased my bid to the maximum I’m prepared to pay. Not heard anything. Card not charged. Cruise leaves on Sunday!! The cruise is no longer bookable on the RC site and doesn’t show up on a search.

Sorry...but this is correct...you only get the points for the category you originally booked.
JTJT1 Posted August 8, 2019 #3210 Share Posted August 8, 2019 Anyone sailing in September have bids get accepted yet? We are on the Mariner. There are still 7/8 owners suites left but no GS, which is what we wanted. I placed a "moderate" bid a few weeks ago.

No one from our cruise has won their RoyalUp in the Roll Call (and another group on another website). Our cruise is no longer showing up on RCI, and is considered sold out. I did see someone post on the other website yesterday that they won their bid for a cruise that is just over 30 days out. Their cruise is a shorter one (4 nights) that still had availability. That's all the info the poster offered. So yes, some in September are getting notification of winnings.
liberiben Posted August 8, 2019 #3212 Share Posted August 8, 2019 There are about 15 GS and 6 OS available for our sailing in a little less than a month. I’m in an panoramic ocean view suite. Bidding on both. I’m at the lowest bid, but still crossing my fingers.
precious89904600 Posted August 8, 2019 #3213 Share Posted August 8, 2019 I received an email from RC about the royal up program to put a bid in but since I'm booked thru a travel agent that I have to go thru them. I'm not familiar with this program can someone enlighten me what this is and is it worth my time
precious89904600 Posted August 8, 2019 #3214 Share Posted August 8, 2019 I have decided to keep my boardwalk balcony >talked to my ta and she said a strong offer would be over a 1000 more so I'm not doing it for a js
SRF Posted August 8, 2019 #3215 Share Posted August 8, 2019 Hmm, I did not have to go through my TA. But, what the heck, make a minimum offer. If you get it, GREAT. If not, you are no worse off.
Kayla103 Posted August 8, 2019 #3216 Share Posted August 8, 2019 Question about this. If no one bids, will the minimum bid allowed go lower? I've always wondered.
Cruiser_1977 Posted August 8, 2019 #3217 Share Posted August 8, 2019 (edited) @mcatmcat What is your sailing date? I'm on the 20th and yesterday no GS available, today their is one and less OS. Curious if yours might be the GS that opened... Edited August 8, 2019 by JennyB1977

Cheller1973 Posted August 8, 2019 #3222 Share Posted August 8, 2019 Advice needed please. We have an Interior cabin booked and have also booked the drinks package at £35pppd. If we successfully bid on a neighbourhood balcony will we get a refund of £15pppd to cover the free soda package which is included with the balcony cabin? minnie00 Posted August 8, 2019 #3223 Share Posted August 8, 2019 We are 23 days out and in a JS. you can bid on GS, CLS and ATS 1....although all suites are sold out. We are in a GTY so really have no idea where we will end up. no one on our roll call has heard either. It seems that the short cruisers are having some luck

It has been noted in many place that Royal Caribbean doesn't offer a credit for not taking advantage of the free soda packages in the Boardwalk or Park Balconies. Same situation for me. Many have reported a deck and/or muster station on it which narrows down the location.
